Extra's: The best extra was the 20.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Concubine. It was primarily a set of interviews with the gals that also had some grainy footage of the scenes at times but I thought it was well done for a first attempt (it looked like a first attempt at least). There was also a slide show, some trailers, and some commercials for Hustler as well as a "select a star" menu to choose the performers and the sex act that you want to see.

Audio/Video Quality: Barely Legal 51: Another Night In Paris was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot by director Jane Waters for Hustler Video. Jane has been making porn longer than some performers have been alive (to hear him talk about it), working on many high end productions for other directors. The general visual quality of the DVD was better than the dearly departed Clive McLean provided in the first 50 volumes of the series with a sharp focus, perfect fleshtones, and decent (though not perfect) lighting that all but eliminated the grain. A bit more fill lighting would've helped it look even better and I saw no compression artifacts or video noise but my biggest complaint was the composition of several of the shots that simply didn't enhance the look of the cast. The stereo English audio track was about average, with the vocals easily heard and the music as generic as ever. There wasn't any significant separation between the channels or high end dynamic range but most people don't buy a porno from this series searching for such qualities (although there are companies providing that).

Body of Review: With the passing of famed pornographer Clive McLean, a lot of fans were wondering what would happen to the numerous series the talented director was known for, myself included. Having directed 50 (yes, 50!) volumes of the Barely Legal series, could anyone truly take over and make the series their own? Well, Jane Waters was willing to try with Barely Legal 51: Another Night In Paris, a change in pace for the series as it had the performers act like the rich and infamous from the headlines of yesterday involved in various sex scandals. I'm not a fan of this change but admit that a revival was in order given the change of director and I wanted to be fair to him. I liked Volume 50 better in many ways but the first two scenes were decent and showed some potential with the female cast being within 5 years of 18 (i.e.: "barely legal"). Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting no condoms were used and one scene had anal:

Scene One: Paris Visits Boyfriend: Teena Fina, the gal featured on the front DVD cover on the right hand side, was up first with Randy Spears, on a couch. While I don't think she looks much like Paris Hilton (as implied), she's cuter and generally known as a better fuck with a better body. The videocamera aspect of the scene allowed for some limited point of view (POV) angles and the scenario had her portraying the rich brat in a scene much like the one she did that's being distributed by Red Light District (with better sex of course). They did the usual foreplay, oral and vaginal boning before the pop shot to her face. She displayed some energy as she rode him and blew him so I rate this well above the infamous video so many people were suckered into buying.

Scene Two: Lindsey's Fashion Shoot In Studio: Trinity Post, the only gal in the movie not gracing the front DVD cover, was a cutie with red hair portraying the infamous Lindsey Lohan at a photoshoot with Jay Huntington as the man with the plan. Trinity is another one that doesn't look like the role she's playing (again, better in my opinion), as she changed into a sexy outfit consisting of a fishnet top and bright yellow shorts. At some point, she lost that outfit in favor of a pink top and matching panties, bent over for Jay's pleasure on a red leather couch and the fun began. This was another oral (by both parties) and vaginal bone-fest as the two seemed to appreciate one another more than a little bit. The chemistry between them was evident and she was moderately energetic though not as much so as Teena before her. Fans may appreciate that she took a stiff one in her ass but that wasn't as fun as the previous aspects of the movie (though you may enjoy her ATM antics better than I did).

Scene Three: Nicole Back From Shopping: Gigi, the hot blonde featured on the lower left hand side of the front DVD cover, was up next as she acted like an airhead for her boyfriend Van Damage, who was sitting at the dining room table. In her favor, she looked nothing like Nicole Ritchie, offering a far better (and leaner) body, prettier eyes, and a sweet face the rich gal from reality television would kill to acquire. The two had some okay sex (oral and vaginal) but her strength was in her attractive features, not in her skillful handling of a cock. He did almost all of the work and this scene was a filler except for her looks.

Scene Four: Nikki In Las Vegas Hotel: Jamie Elle, the youthful looking gal shown on the middle of the left hand side of the front DVD cover, was obviously suggested as representing Nikki Hilton to old man Jon Dough's meat puppet character. The premise of the ongoing storyline was worn out by this point in time as he looked like Rasputin compared to the blemished performer in the bathroom (and later, the bedroom). Like Gigi, she wasn't the best fuck of the flick and unlike her associate, she wasn't as appealing, but most guys watching this series have gotten used to sacrificing the heat and passion for the youthful appearance long ago. It was another basic scene with little to recommend about it but it fulfilled the general requirement of having a young gal in a sex scene.

Scene Five: Paris Visits Girlfriend Tina: Marlena, the brunette with the 1940's hairdo on the upper left hand corner of the front DVD cover, was up last in a lesbian pairing with Teena Fine. They rubbed and sucked on one another before using a colorful glass toy during their sexual activities on a brown couch but it wasn't the best such pairing I've seen this morning, never mind recently. I'm not saying I turned it off but they didn't appear to be anything more than lipstick lesbians for pay; a fact I can live with but it lacked replay value like the last few scenes so I was left hanging again.

Summary: Barely Legal 51: Another Night In Paris was worth a rating of Rent It to me for the first two scenes alone but the weaknesses of the others dragged it down. On a conceptual level, cashing in on the names of the rich is nothing new for porn but came off as lame due to the acting skills of the performers. The gals did have all natural bodies, Teena and Gigi were hot looking, and the technical values were decent, but the lack of passion and chemistry made this just another porno instead of something special. On a positive note, the sex in movie was better than any of the celebrity sex scenes floating around involving Paris Hilton and friends but that really isn't saying much.
