Extra's: The best extra on the DVD was the 18.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showcased all the gals of the movie. There was a lot of sex and nudity; good things to have on a porno extra. There were also some trailers, a biography for Mari Possa, a photogallery, and a bunch of commercials.

Audio/Video Quality: Seymore Butts' War of the Girls was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Seymore Butts for distribution by Pure Play Media. The rule of thumb for all recent Seymore Butts movies is that the lighting is less staged, as are the scenes (at least that's the impression they given when watching them), which sometimes leads to a lot of grain and shadows. That was the case here although the playfulness factor overcame my initial apprehension of the technical deficiencies with the cast doing a stand up job of displaying their talents to best effect, displaying heat and chemistry, and simply having a good time. Contrast that with most porn where the gals are almost in a contest of how extreme they can get and you'll see the appeal of a Seymore movie (I fuss at his technical issues more than most, especially since he can fix it fairly easily, but I try not to lose sight of the strengths he shows). There were no compression artifacts and minimal video noise so the visual aspects, while imperfect, didn't kill the heat of the scenes. The stereo English audio was about as average as ever with no separation between the channels and little dynamic range but I could hear what was said by the cast. A few of the gals yelled so loud as to distort the audio track but that was infrequent so I won't kill the score over it.

Body of Review: Is there any doubt that Seymore Butts (AKA: Adam Glasser) is one of the top directors in porn these days? While he may not be as edgy as he once was when new to the field of gonzo, he still has a large following based as much on his past as his devotion to taking relatively few gals and exploring them all the way rather than go with the quantity approach. His latest release, Seymore Butts' War of the Girls, seemed to be a play on words to make people think of the H.G. Wells classic (the recent mainstream version making tons of money) but despite the comments on the DVD cover, there was nothing here to suggest a parody or any contest between the gals. Still, if you like Seymore's other movies, this was a nice return to some of the strengths the director has shown over the last decade or more, and here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Good Tip: Mari Possa, Selena Silver, Flower Tucci, and Samantha Ryan, were all horned up and barely dressed at the mansion when they decided they needed a few drinks to cop a buzz. The bartender was a half dressed Kurt Lockwood, and Mari figured she'd start giving him a tip in the form of a blowjob behind the bar while the others watched. Selena was second up and the others joined in after that with some salad tossing (rimming Kurt's ass) and more oral to the lad before the gals left him for some heated lesbian antics in the bedroom. The gals all seemed to be quite at home with lesbian playing, using tongues and toys to compliment their fingers as they jammed stuff into all the available holes present. If you like seeing high end glass toys plunging into anal passages of attractive women, you'll be busting a nut in no time with this part of the scene.

Scene Two: Bar Closed: The next scene started "8 minutes later" according to the comments on the screen, with Mari Possa and Samantha Ryan making better use of Kurt Lockwood's body for their personal pleasure. Mari was rimming him from down under while Samantha was riding him up above. Seymore walked in on them, followed by Selena Silver and Flower Tucci, but they didn't skip a beat as the trio went at one another in a very passionate tryst. For their part, Selena and Flower ate at the Y, but it wasn't long before the whole thing turned into a group grope of one sort or another with plenty of anal sex. After some squirting action, the gals all gang banged Kurt by sucking his cock, fingering and licking his ass, and otherwise playing with him as he took them one by one. The gals added in some foot sucking action (why some of you enjoy that is outside of my understanding but I'm not knocking it), and the variations of the action proved pretty interesting. Fans of gals yelling out loud will appreciate it more than average too but the main point was the high energy levels and chemistry between them all.

Scene Three: Secret Hideaway: Alexis Amore, a busty brunette with a curvy body, was up next in a scene filmed "4 days later" with old man Herschel Savage playing the meat puppet. Whatever else you want to say about Herschel, the guy has been in porn a long time with some proven skills, proving old guys can score young gals too (if the gals are paid enough). She worked his cock in her mouth handily but the housekeeper kept vacuuming and that background noise detracted from the scene for me. She was another aggressive rider of penis, using both her pussy and ass to milk out a load. She did some ATM (ass to mouth) and seemed at home in the variety of positions shown but his weak load disappointed me (especially after I built him up so much earlier in the scene description.

Scene Four: Ride Home: The last scene took place "9 minutes later" with Mari Possa and Scott Nails actively screwing anally in the expansive bathroom. His dick was pounding her ass and she was screaming out loud about how good it felt. Some people really like this aspect of Seymore's movies as it gives the false impression that he "caught them in the act" rather than the usual scripted scene but I like seeing a scene from true start to true finish myself. In any case, it ended when she jerked out a load to her face and the scene was as solid as the others in terms of chemistry and heat.

Summary: Seymore Butts' War of the Girls proved that Seymore Butts still has what it takes to compete with the newer breed of directors but I had mixed feelings about the DVD given the length of the movie. While other companies focus on providing 2, 3, 4, and even the better part of 6 hours on their releases (I'm not talking compilations either), this DVD had less than 90 minutes as the main feature for the same (or higher) price. That, combined with the technical matters described above, made me really have to push my thumb down hard on the scale to rate this one as Recommended. I liked the playfulness and energy but the detracting aspects shouldn't be ignored either. Seymore is no longer way ahead of everyone except for John Stagliano too so he needs to offer more footage or he'll soon find himself relying too heavily on his Showtime series to prop up sales as fans move on to movies with more fuck for the buck. In all though, this was one of his better recent DVDs and I think fans will really like it.
