Extra's: The best extra was a 19.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Rosalinda M. Much of the feature focused on the photoshoots of the gals but there were some playful antics as displayed on other BTS extras released by Mercenary Pictures. If you like the cast, you'll get to see more of them in various states of undress and getting ready for their scenes. The editing could've been a bit tighter but it was a decent extra well worth watching. The other extras were the standardized fetish menu, photogallery, trailers, and double sided DVD cover.

Audio/Video Quality: The Dominators was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Domina X for Mercenary Pictures. Like much of her previous work for the company, the lighting was not optimal and that caused some grain, shadows and video noise but the problem is not unique to her in this regard (hopefully, someone at the company learns to provide better back and fill lighting before too many other releases are weakened in this regard). The composition of the camera angles was generally pretty good and the fleshtones seemed accurate with only some focus issues otherwise adding to the technical problems with regard to the visuals. The stereo audio was a bit weaker than most releases by the company with the vocals ranging from too low to too high (where they sounded distorted). The audio is one area in most porn that could use some work but even when the levels weren't off, the gals sounded hollow, as if in a wind tunnel.

Body of Review: Now that Domina X (also known by her performing name of Vanessa Blue) has decided to branch out and offer her services for other companies, it is easier to see what makes her tick in terms of directing skill. After all, how much of her ability is derived from those around her and how much is indicative of the limitations of the crew a particular company has to work with seems to be a deciding factor in many porn directors these days so those that've seen some of the limitations of her earlier work at Mercenary Pictures will have some idea of what her latest release for the company, The Dominators, looks like. In short, like her other work to date, the central theme seems to be women dominating men under various pretenses, with each getting off at the end of the scene. While the fetish outfits appeared to be window dressing here (like in most of her work), she did start to offer up something closer to the promised action than she has done in the past. Setting aside the usual technical limitations of her work for the moment, here's a brief look at the action in the movie, noting that no condoms were used and no one was hurt:

Scene One: Anatomy of a Domme: Destiny Deville, the British gal on the middle of the front DVD cover wearing a hat and fishnet stockings, was surprised to come home and find a similarly dressed up (in fetish gear) gal, Victoria Sweet, rubbing up on her man, Doni Blass. After some screaming and yelling, the trio ended up in a shadowy scene with one another on a couch. The gals took over and gave some oral before riding him vaginally with Destiny doing most of the work by the looks of it. The sex was almost a grudge fuck and had some warmth but the technical limitations weakened it for me too much. The ending pop shot was on Destiny's ass and Victoria licked some of it up for good measure.

Scene Two: Learning the Scales: Mika Tan, a very cute Asian gal with a pleasing body and lovely face, was up next as a teacher to tone deaf Marco Duato. Sitting at the piano, she managed to prove why he's a porn stud instead of a pop singer as she beat him whenever he got a tone wrong. She seemed to take advantage of his position by distracting her with some rubbing of her crotch though she stayed in charge as she slapped him around when striped down to her PVC bra and short shorts. I like Asian gals just fine but they aren't my primary focus with few exceptions so her appealing look stood out for me and her driven oral was among the best of the movie. It was sloppy, energetic, and seemed to come from her crotch rather than a director's imagination so I have to admit I had some fun watching it. The vaginal screwing wasn't quite as heated but she did seem to keep some of the passion alive here and rode him aggressively in several positions. It ended with her licking some spew off a glass table after the facial. In all, it was a very well done scene that rose above the others on most levels.

Scene Three: Bitch Fucked: Jada Fire and Vida Valentine, the gals on the right and left side of the front DVD cover respectively, wore some PVC outfits to enhance their looks as they teased poor old Marco Duato in the house. They weren't the best looking gals of the movie according to my tastes but fans of gals with junk in the trunk will find a whole lot to appreciate with each of them. They tag teamed his penis orally before getting serious and the limited domination themes seemed cast aside in favor of a more straightforward gonzo offering this time. They did do some dirty talk but nothing like Destiny or Mika provided; seeming almost uncomfortable doing so most of the scene. Jada won out for best performance in this scene but neither really did much for me, even with the ATM (and other variations on the theme), and Jada's booty was far too accommodating of Marco's meat stick to make it look like a challenge for her.

Scene Four: She Said "Three Way": Marie Luv, a lean black gal with a gap toothed smile and a decent booty was up next wearing a pink and black PVC fetish outfit with lots of laces to hold it together. Her tease was decent but I've rarely been impressed with her performance ability (simply a matter of personal taste folks) though her partners for the scene did manage to put her through her paces in a decent fashion. The guys were Alec Knight and Jack Venice; starting out in POV (point of view) fashion as they played with her and warmed her up for the action. She sucked and fucked them, ending as expected, but I couldn't get into the action. Fans might appreciate her more though so give it a look see.

Scene Five: Payback: Destiny Deville, playing a jilted girlfriend this time, claimed to be able to get any guy she wanted as she talked on her cell phone to her girlfriend. Wearing some nicer fetish attire than she did previously in the movie, she set up a videocamera while waiting for Lexington Steele in order to play a scam on him. He initially resisted but she was very convincing as she dragged him into the house and seduced him in a fairly predictable manner (lets face it; wearing what she had on, even if he truly believed she was "like a little sister" to him as he claimed, he'd be tapping that ass in record time in real life). She eventually got to sucking him off, doing as good a job (if not better) as the first scene, and the boning went even better. It went so well that he popped off in her face and it looked like the scene was over but she came back for more on the staircase and he drilled her even deeper than I thought was possible. Yow!

Summary: The Dominators was worth a rating of Rent It to me due in large part to the limitations of the technical matters, the lack of follow through on the domination aspects of the show, and the general malaise some of the performers in their scenes. A few of them appeared to be in top form but they were the minority here and I'd be misleading you if I said the DVD was anything special. The other directors at Mercenary Pictures provide better quality fuck for the buck (not to mention more quantity too) so while I'm not exactly condemning this DVD, it was in need of a lot more spit and polish than it received by the looks (and sound) of it. I think Vanessa has enough talent to overcome these limitations in future directorial efforts but she needs to push herself, and her crew, to do better, with performers that are hungry enough to give the kind of performances fans are willing to pay for.
