Extra's: Most people will appreciate the bonus scene between Jessica Drake, Cheyne Collins, and Mike Horner, the most. It was from The Collector and was short (a bit over 7 minutes) but it had some nice erotic appeal. For me though, the All Access: The Making of Sold, was among the best thirty minutes I've seen out of Mark Stone in awhile. It gave the cast and crew a chance to offer up their view of life, liberty and the pursuit of porn; making it fun to watch (don't skip it if you're a fan of the cast). The 3.5 minute Box Cover Shoot was also interesting as it reaffirms Jessica's love of all things white (she appreciates the purity of the color, even if she strays in terms of men once in a while). There were many photogalleries this time, with the one for the movie and seven more (one for each leading lady), and I liked them just fine. This was followed by the usual Star Stats for three of the performers (Jessica, Keri, and Austin), the usual promotional reels by Wicked Pictures, the standard DVD Rom materials including desktop pictures, the casino game, awards and nominations from their back catalog, and a profile for the company). Lastly, there were seven trailers and a cardboard protective sleeve on the DVD case.

Audio/Video Quality: Sold was presented in the same non-anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Brad Armstrong for Wicked Pictures. This was one of his film presentations and the quality of the scenes varied more than usual since the darker nature of a few of them caused too much grain and some video noise for my tastes. The scenes were generally good looking though and the fleshtones were accurate with a good eye for the composition of the shots (enhancing the way the women looked). There were no compression artifacts and Brad's attention to detail was well received. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround but most of the sound came out the center speakers of my home theatre set. As far as I know, the vocals were recorded in a basic manner with the music added in to enhance the soundtrack but even then there was no separation of the sound in any significant way. My biggest issue with the audio was how the droning music overpowered the vocals in most cases and a few scenes, Rita Faltoyano's in particular, seemed dubbed.

Body of Review: Brad Armstrong has been directing movies at Wicked Pictures for over ten years now and there's a reason for that lengthy contract; he's a talented guy (don't tell him or it'll go to his head). His latest offering is Sold, a "sort of sequel" to The Collector where extremely wealthy people go to bid on sexual fantasies with men and women of their choosing. More of a vignette driven movie than a feature, the lead was the beautiful Jessica Drake as she assisted in the auction, both as bidder and object of the sales. Brad seems to be drawn to making several of this type of movie a year (shot on film instead of video) in between his bigger budget releases but fans already know that such films contain his some of his best efforts. Here's a look at the scenes, noting that while men used condoms, the scenes weren't majorly impacted by them from my point of view:

Scene One: Jessica Drake, the attractive hotty on the front DVD cover, was up first as the bidding war heated up with her getting $17,775 by "Takata", a wealthy Japanese businessman who hooked her up with muscular Tommy Gunn. She was bound in ropes and the same fetish outfit seen on the front DVD cover, hanging from a metal rod as Tommy performed a kata with a samurai sword before her. Soon enough, the scene skipped to a point where she was untied and working over his penis orally, slobbing it nicely as she inhaled the shaft; using her hand for added friction. He then donned a condom and went to work on her pussy in a few positions. It was interesting to watch her finger her own ass (two fingers at a time) but he never partook of her backdoor. It ended to see the pop shot on her chest in this warm scene.

Scene Two: Austin Kincaid and Jenaveve Jolie, playing twins dressed in red camisoles, stockings and bras, were won by Randy Spears for $16,000. The theme of the scene was a film noir setting by a bank vault (he was a banker after all). The gals smoked cigars and tried to present cold, dispassionate characters through the use of their sunglasses but it didn't work since they seemed pretty into the threesome that ensued. Licking, sucking, and rubbing one another, they all seemed to get in some oral action on one another before he began to bone them. In all, the scene wasn't bad but the music and canned moaning weakened it for me enough that I found it tame compared to several of the other scenes.

Scene Three: Rita Faltoyano, playing a rich foreign gal looking to buy a man, picked up Talon for a tidy sum of $7,500. The setting of the sex was a Victorian era scene with the couple dressed up as a princess from days gone by and her chauffeur of a horse drawn carriage. The sex took place outside in the midday sun with each pleasing the other handily using tongues and hands until Talon got to bone the beauty from behind. The vocals appeared dubbed over the music and the action retired to an indoor room by a fireplace where Rita's fine ass got a workout too. The motion of her grinding the hips into him with his penis drilling her ass was great and she never let up until he popped on her face and mouth. It might not have been her best scene in the last year but she sure gave a great performance.

Scene Four: Jessica Drake, back inside a phone booth on a rainy night, won a phone sex fantasy for an undisclosed amount with Brad Armstrong, Chris Cannon, and Tommy Gunn. Summary: Sold was not made to compete with the recent blockbuster movies but in terms of the type of movie it was designed to be, it largely succeeded. As such, I rated it as Recommended but I'm a big fan of Jessica and Rita so your personal mileage may vary. The technical qualities could've been polished more and the audio track could've been given a second option with lower music as some other releases have had but the overall quality of the casting and sex, complete with decent extras, were enough to earn the rating. It made a nice addition to my collection and I think it had some overall replay value though some of the gals were allowed more freedom to shine than others. Check it out and I think you'll appreciate the finer qualities it had to offer.
