Extra's: Most of you that have written me, have been adamant that the bonus scenes were your favorite extra on Vivid release but you've also expressed an interest in seeing all new scenes with the lead of the show too. In this case, I'm led to believe that the movie originally starred the lovely Savanna Samson since the first three (of five) bonus scenes had her in starring roles. This was a pain in a sense that Lanny Barby was cheated out of any bonus scenes but as she makes more of them, I'm sure that'll change. My favorite extra here was the 9.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Nate Liquor. It took awhile to get to see some footage of Lanny but she looked great! There was also a short biography of her, a couple of photogalleries, some trailers with the positions room, spam, and double sided DVD cover as expected.

Audio/Video Quality: Skin On Skin was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment. I've seen a lot of visual flaws with the movies released by the company, figuring it was related to the amount of generic extras included and bad DVD mastering but lately the company has been surprising me with the quality of their offerings. This one looked very crisp and clear with solid lighting, little grain (if any most of the time) or video noise, and some very pleasant composition of the shots included; each of which enhanced the looks of the gals. I liked the flat lighting of the video-shot movie and there were no compression artifacts either (though the loss of focus came up more than a few times). If all of the company's titles start looking this good or better, I'll be very happy in the future. The audio was presented in the standard 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo with little, if any, separation between the channels but I could hear all the vocals and music very easily.

Body of Review: Chi Chi LaRue is one of the most eccentric directors in porn but seems to have more than a little bit of talent given the body of his work I've seen in recent years. One of the gals he hasn't worked with much in the past, Lanny Barby, was the centerpiece of his latest work; Skin On Skin, a vignette flavored movie with a lot to like. Lanny is the hotty on the front cover and I'll be the first to admit that Vivid made an excellent choice signing her to a contract. That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that none of the scenes were weak (and most were very solid) this time:

Scene One: Lanny Barby, the drop dead gorgeous brunette on the front DVD cover, was wisely up first in a scene with buccaneer Tommy Gunn in a lushly set up stage. They rubbed and engaged in foreplay before falling back on a black leather couch with him eating her out handily. One look at her pretty eyes or her erect nipples will tell you that she wanted him badly but I know it's easier to just figure they were there for pay. She sucked him off just as nicely with a lot of energy and skill, proving one good lick deserves another. The two then screwed vaginally and anally after a short titty fuck. When she was on top, she rode him like a champion, forgetting the usual tenants about contract gals needing to be passive (thankfully at that). There wasn't a lot of anal sex but fans will appreciate it nonetheless. This was a great scene to start the show with and had a decent facial ending.

Scene Two: Lanny Barby, in an attempt to prove her versatility, was up next with curvy brunette Texas Presley on a couch in a darkened room. Aside from the gals, the first thing I noticed was how little grain there was, even with the lowered lighting, something Vivid has been terrible about in the past. (Good work!) Anyway, I'm not familiar with the partner here but with a name like Texas, how bad could she be (even with the wig)? I liked this lesbian pairing almost as much as I liked the last scene given how they did each other like no camera was present. They used one clear plastic toy to screw with but most of the scene was erotic rubbing and tongue play, working very nicely for my libido (I was so hot by this point that I was looking fondly at the wood pile in case there might be a snake in it). I look forward to seeing both gals in future Vivid releases.

Scene Three: Gen Padova, a light haired gal that might not be a classic porn beauty but has that approachable look some of you find appealing, was up next with black Tyler Knight. This scene seemed to address the critics that have railed at Vivid for not offering up a lot of interracial sex in recent years (a charge I laugh at for the most part) with the couple starting off somewhat mechanically. They warmed up to one another fairly well though and the chemistry, while not on the same level as the last two scenes, was evident even to a jaded old porn hound like me. She savored the taste of his cock in her mouth at first but then turned something inside her own and went ballistic, bouncing on his penis like she had a clitoris in the back of her throat. He snacked on her crack as well and I'm not sure I've ever seen her ass looking as good as it did here. Foot fetish fans will like that he sucked on her feet a bit and they screwed for a while (but it seemed like ages concentrating on the wonderful oral they shared) and it ended when he rubbed out a load into her mouth.

Scene Four: Lexie Marie, a very attractive blonde and brunette Jezebelle Bond, were up next in a scene that had the two gals teasing Eric Masterson before he got lucky and joined them in bed. His newly blonde hair looked silly (as though he were imitating Barrett Blade) but his talented tongue pleased the ladies more than a little bit as he tasted them to full effect. Lexi's fishnet and corset enhanced her look more than a little and Jezebelle seemed to dominate from behind as she shoved his face into her crotch as she licked him silly. Both gals took some dick in their pussy but Lexi seemed to get the short end of the deal this time. It ended when they double teamed him orally to a good pop shot.

Scene Five: Barbara Summer, an incredibly attractive blonde that I really, really, wanted to see work with Lanny, was not disappointing when she worked with Jerry and Trent Tesoro in a bed instead (I can wait for another time I suppose). She masturbated in some light blue lingerie and they came over to rub her a little themselves as they kissed and fondled her to arousal. She took turns on their shafts until Trent got the idea to go down on her, which started her on the path to screwing the men with all her skill. I knew when she took four fingers in her ass that she'd be doing anal although I was surprised to see her tossing salad when she tongued some man-ass too. I was pleasantly surprised when she didn't do a DP here (I find nothing interesting with two naked men being within millimeters of one another but she mentioned doing DP in the BTS feature) and they unloaded their semen deposits on both ends of her to finish up the show.

Summary: Skin On Skin was a title I really liked a lot and think had significant replay value. I would've liked a third scene with Lanny in it and some more Lanny-specific extras but the solid production values enhanced a great set of sex scenes with the talented and sexually attractive cast. If I hadn't known better, I would never have guessed this one was shot by Vivid (or by Chi Chi LaRue) and I applaud the improvements the company has offered up of late. With so much competition in the marketplace, I'm pleased to suggest this one as Highly Recommended, noting that Lanny Barby was great and the others offered up some substantial replay value; looking better than I've seen them in ages. There were a few rough spots but as a star driven vehicle, Skin on Skin will have you applying the concept in some heat generating hand to gland action too.
