Extra's: The extras were something of the standard Vivid package with five scenes from previous releases (three starring Lexie Marie), a Lexie Marie biography, a couple of photogalleries, a 9 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Nate Liquor (that spent most of the time with Lexie and a few moments with Chi Chi LaRue), trailers for titles like The New Devil In Miss Jones, When Strangers Meet, Circus and Janine's Been Blackmaled; a double sided DVD cover, and some of the usual spam for phone sex and other Vivid products.

Audio/Video Quality: Spiked was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as directed by Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment. The lighting this time was above average, keeping the grain & video noise to a minimum in all but a couple of scenes. The composition of the shots was solid in most cases, enhancing the look of the gals, and the editing wasn't bad although a few out of focus moments and other slips could've been excised out (a recurring theme in Chi Chi's recent movies). There were no compression artifacts and I thought it was a pretty good looking movie except for some shadows that could've been taken care of with more fill lighting. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English language and the vocals sadly took second fiddle to the droning music track but there were times when the dirty talk was plainly heard. There wasn't any separation between the tracks and the dynamic range was limited but audio rarely gets much attention by production companies.

Body of Review: Chi Chi LaRue has been one of those directors that routinely makes a lot of "product" movies, churning them out as fast as he can, in order to have more artistic direction on the handful that he feels strongly about. I suppose this is like most jobs and to be open about it, the guy can provide a very solid sexual experience on video when given the chance. His latest release is a little title by the name of Spiked, a story starring contract performer Lexie Marie as she talks to her shrink about a pair of shoes that seem somehow tied to her sexual identity. The story elements aside, the sex was often very well handled and the improved technical matters that Vivid's been working on were showing up in full force. Here's a look at the scenes by action and cast, noting that condoms were used but not a big factor to me this time:

Scene One: Sweat Dreams: Kimberly Kane, a light haired gal with all natural breasts and a tiny bush, was up first on the couch with muscular Reno. They seemed mismatched due to his size and her youthful appearance but those who've watched her at work know that she is quick to handle just about any man with the kind of skill a talented performer needs to stay in the business. His oral to her was fair but she seemed to come alive when handling his shaft with her hand and mouth, keeping eye contact and playfully manipulating the shaft with all her skill. He then set out to boning her in several positions, showing increasing interest as her tempo sped up. Once she was on top, she was definitely in charge of getting off and I was surprised he held out as long as he did before popping a load into her mouth. The scene showed some chemistry and passion but I knew that some of the others would be even better.

Scene Two: The Shoes: Trina Michaels, a large breasted gal with light hair, wore a black camisole and matching panties in bed as she worked over Jack Venice in the next scene. This time, there was little doubt that she was sexually dominant as he sat back and enjoyed the ride with her sucking his average shaft off as though on the bonus plan. If anything, her skill levels with blowjobs have increased of late and I was pleased to see just how much she's grown. I would've preferred the titty fuck to last longer but he wanted her so badly that I don't think he cared; rubbing her before she rolled into a 69 with him on the bed. In all, I think the pile driver was her best position here except that it showed off her implant scars too much on the close ups.

Scene Three: My Polar Opposite: Lanny Barby, the dream gal of many a man (and woman), was up next in a lesbian scene with lovely Lexie Marie; the gal on the front DVD cover. Both are two of the freshest Vivid contract performers and well worth watching, especially in the dreamy veiled room they did each other in. The visual distractions were minimal as they kissed and teased one another, increasing the level of heat as they locked onto one another in several ways. The pearls Lexi wore enhanced her look (I can't say why though; perhaps it's my programming from years of reading Penthouse in my wayward youth) and aside from some minimal shadows, this was the best lit scene of the bunch. They licked and sucked each other off but they could've been oil wrestling for all I cared since they contrasted so well together. As much as I prefer seeing Lanny with a guy, her skill with a woman, especially a quality woman like Lexi, can't be denied. Yum!

Scene Four: The Others: Michelle Lay, playing the therapist in the movie, was up next as Lexie watched her and Randy Spears do one another. Michelle is a lean brunette with an attractive appearance and a set of sexual skills well worth seeking out if you're in the market. The two were on the couch with her in a black form-fitting dress and pantyhose where Randy felt obligated to suck her crotch, feet, and shoes with equal vigor. After he warmed her up, she went wild on his throbbing penis, attacking it orally and with her hand like she was on a mission. The oral alone was pretty cool but she also toyed with him by using her pantyhose to enhance the action nicely. The screwing took place in both her pussy and ass although she was decidedly more active when getting it in her front door. It ended when he came in her shoe and she licked it up, proving the totality of the scene being better than any of the others to this point for sheer kinky flavor and skills shown.

Scene Five: Into The Light: Lexie Marie, this time looking even better in a luxurious red dress and the black shoes in question, took care of studly Tommy Gunn on a couch with some nice foreplay. Shot partially in a dream sequence fashion, the two took their time to pleasing one another, looking like a perfectly matched couple in all ways. The shot of her laying back with her legs spread open and rubbing her pussy under her red panties was great combined with the look of desire in her eyes and he went right to work on her crotch orally after it. They both did a lot of oral though and fans of it will appreciate that it didn't just look like preparing for the sex as most such scenes do. The screwing in her sweet pussy was almost an anticlimax but her dirty talk rather than active hip movement ruled the scene as he pounded her initially. Once on top though, she gave a solid performance, right up until she milked him dry of his load onto her chest.

Summary: Spiked was a little uneven in terms of providing enough Lexie Marie (or Lanny Barby) in action for my tastes but the other gals proved to be worthy of my time and energy so I couldn't fault director Chi Chi LaRue too much this time. The story wasn't all that involving but this isn't the type of show to rely too heavily on the plot devices so much as the sex and it came together nicely overall. I'm going to rate it as Recommended, noting that the technical matters were nicely handled (a growing trend for Vivid) and the extras were up to speed too. Fans of Lexie will definitely want to get a copy but it had some merit for others too. In summary, Spiked was a winner from heel to toe.
