Extra's: The extras were pretty good here, as expected, and began with a 9 minute Behind the Scenes feature. Like most such features, it had the cast when they were "off" their usual stage personas and there were some cute moments where Stevie was establishing the ground rules (and dominance on the set). This was followed by a nearly 4 minute long scene between Kat and Hillary. They were mostly jilling themselves with toys but in my opinion, it was far too short a scene. The next extra was something I've come to like about the series, the lengthy interview reel where the participants of the show spent a lot of time talking about themselves and matters of importance to them for 24.5 minutes. If you're really into any of the gals, you'll want to check this one out for the interesting content from the performers. There was also a photogallery and some trailers with a link to become a judge for an upcoming volume of the series.

Audio/Video Quality: Pussy Party 12: Anal Mimosas was shot in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as directed by Cousin Stevie. The lighting of this gonzo shoot wasn't the best but that was largely due to the gonzo nature of the shoot. In order to maintain some sense of spontaneity, the production made use of minimal lighting and a roving camera. For some of us, the raw energy on display easily compensates for the additional grain and minor video noise this adds while others have expounded on the lack of technical quality this presents. Personally, I'm not a fan of lowering the technical quality for any reason and I often dismiss the belief that gonzo "looks that way" unlike critics elsewhere since I've seen plenty of flat lighting used in some shoots that worked better. In Stevie's case, much like his mentor Seymore Butts, he gets away with it thanks in large part to the casting choices he makes. Still, the composition of many of the shots didn't make the best use of the gals or enhance their looks as nicely as they could have. That said, the production looked pretty good and conveyed a sense of heat in many cases with no observable compression artifacts noticed. The 2.0 Dolby Digital audio was basic with no separation between the channels and about the level of quality I'd expect from a generic gonzo movie but I could hear all the action going on and that's the important thing.

Body of Review: To many people, the term "CSI" means "crime scene investigator" thanks in large part to the public's fascination with the television show by that name. For the purposes of porn however, it simply refers to the production company Cousin Stevie Inc. For those unaware of who this guy is; he's the curmudgeonly old man routinely seen as a foil in the Seymore Butts cable show, Family Business. His trademark line is telling people "fuck you" as he finds little patience for dealing with idiots or those who get in his way. His latest production is the twelfth in the series of lesbian contest videos, Pussy Party 12: Anal Mimosas; much like the last two volumes in the series that I saw in Pussy Party 1 and Pussy Party 2.

By now, most fans of lesbian porn are familiar with the series but the premise is that Stevie gets together a group of gals to perform in a lesbian movie. He also assembles a group of judges who rate the gals by various factors, typically things much like reviewers do such as passionate performances, specific tricks of the trade, beauty, and other enjoyability of their work. As the series has evolved, he hands out small monetary prizes at various stages in the show with larger cash bonuses at the end, depending on how the judges rate the ladies (first place overall gets an extra $1000).

Most of my fellow reviewers at DVD Talk have picked up a volume or two of the series (I sold it so well that they all wanted in on the action) so it's been awhile for me to look at it but I recall reading an interview with Stevie at another website where my name came up as part of the discussion for finding so much to like with Stevie's first attempts at directing porn (I rated Pussy Party 1 and Pussy Party 2 in favorable terms). I had been lucky enough to score an advance copy of the two DVDs and found plenty to enjoy with them, with other reviewers following in their praise some time later. To be frank about the matter, the credit for the positive press had nothing to do with me, I just stumbled onto something worth checking out and others did likewise. The winner of the attention was not only Stevie but the fans of the series that appreciated it as providing something off the beaten path.

In Pussy Party 12: Anal Mimosas, the scenes were broken up into four groups; Couples, Anal Mimosas, 4 Girl Orgy, and Lucky Judge. Rather than give you a lick by lick description of the action (which is always easier to do since it relies on listing the mechanics of the action rather than the quality of what took place), suffice it to say that while the world of porn has plenty of "gay for pay" lesbian action, there are a number of talented ladies that truly enjoy getting off with other women. The bottom line is that however Stevie does it; he has a great track record at finding such ladies and coaxing out solid performances from them with this volume being no different than the last two shows I caught.

The ladies this time were Kat, Hillary Scott, Violet Blue, Layla Jade, Staci Thorn, Dillan Lauren, and Alyssa Knight. I've seen Kat and Hillary in scores of productions together and Violet and I go way back to when she debuted with her boyfriend in a William Witrock release. Dillan is one of the most attractive gals in the industry and the others have all amassed a substantial body of work that speaks for their skills and love of pussy. The usual problems existed here as in the earlier volumes; with so much going on at any given time, it was impossible for the cameramen to keep track of all the action. The way the show started off with the gals pairing off before performing the circus act sex trick of seeing who could shoot enema water the furthest, to the orgy and eventual "reward the judge" blowjob given to Herschel (Heck, I'd have been a judge if that possibility existed for me), all added to the fun. The use of a variety of sex toys (the glass ones from Phallix looked especially cool to the eye) will appeal to many of you as well. In short, the series has kept on track and managed to stay fresh in an age when churning them out as cheaply as possible supersedes the normal quality control fans like. In that sense, fans are the true winners here if you enjoy this type of thing (admittedly, this review doesn't address gay men but being straight porn, it probably shouldn't be worried about them).

Summary: Pussy Party 12: Anal Mimosas was worth a rating of Highly Recommended for fans of lesbian action in large part thanks to the cast of talented ladies that all seemed to enjoy their role in this sperm milking flick. The technical qualities were decent, if unexceptional, and the amount of fuck for the buck was well worth the amount of replay value the sex provided in conjunction with the solid extras. Cousin Stevie still has what it takes to present a great show and the cunning array of stunts (or was that a stunning array of...) were well worth my time and energy. Keep up the good work!
