Extra's: The best extra by far was the 35.5 minutes of additional footage from the scenes (most of which looked like deleted footage but some was well worth adding into the main movie). Audio/Video Quality: Veronica Da Souza: Some Piece of Ass! was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director John Leslie for distribution by Evil Angel. To be frank about it, there were numerous times when I thought the visuals came from Christoph Clark (on a good day mind you) since the lighting averaged a lot better than John has provided fans in recent years. All the stylish visuals in the world don't make a porno better for me (the fewer the better is a good rule of thumb) and this is where he typically drops the ball. This time, the lighting wasn't flat and perfect but it was superior to many other efforts, elevating the quality of the picture by lowering the grain and video noise while allowing the viewer to see the action better. The DVD mastering appeared to be pretty decent too with no compression noise or artifacts seen. The audio was shot in a basic monaural and enhanced during post production in a 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo from the sound of it with no separation and little dynamic range but a decent basic approach that worked well. I could hear all the moans and groans with the occasional music piece set back far enough to prevent weakening the vocals. Most of it seemed added in (from John's band) but the breathless moans and groans covered it up for the most part.

Body of Review: John Leslie has been associated with the porn industry for decades now on one side of the camera or another. As such an established veteran, he has often provided something just different enough to set himself apart from what could be called mainstream gonzo. That said, his attempts at style sometimes interfere with his vision and in a return to basics, he made Veronica Da Souza: Some Piece of Ass!. The movie was a showcase for the attractive Veronica Da Souza who starred in each scene, notable for her unwillingness to do anal at all but still come out ahead of almost all the other gals in the flick regardless of what tricks made up her repertoire. The movie succeeds due to her look, style, and ability to generate heat; all enhanced by John Leslie's directing skill. Here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used and John was on a roll with most of the scenes:

Scene One: Veronica Da Souza, the brunette featured on the right hand side of the front DVD cover, was up first wearing a black tube top and some form fitting red shorts that rode up the crack of her sweet little ass to start the movie. Scene Four: Veronica Da Souza, wearing yet another black dress but accentuated with black fishnet stockings, came into the room where Choky Ice, James Brossman, and Bob Terminator were playing pool. As much as they liked the table game, all thoughts (mine included) turned to Veronica as she went over with them to the couch. The emphasis of the scene after this was on oral with her stroking and sucking them off like a virtuoso expert in the field. To be fair, the viewer won since the gals appealed to different dynamics yet this provided further evidence to me that John could offer up something without a lot of gimmicks and I applaud that fact.

Summary: Veronica Da Souza: Some Piece of Ass! was a very good showcase for Veronica and company with plenty of extras to add to the value. She may not do anal or circus act sex but she is well worth checking out for any male that appreciates fine women having sex on camera. As far as the rating goes, I settled in on a Recommended but fans of foreign porn could easily elevate that a notch given the strength of the performances here. In many ways, this was a visual treat from director John Leslie that provided me enough evidence to suggest that he still has a place among the growing ranks of directors employed by Evil Angel; providing a complement to their work rather than directly competing with it. I'd like to see him showcase some of the local talent like this someday soon with a list of performers immediately popping into my head as good candidates.
