Extra's: For me, the best extra was the audio commentary between Jesse Jane and Nic Andrews. Whatever else people say about this pairing, they both came from completely different angles with Nic focusing on technical aspects and Jesse providing more of a wild-eyed-wonder style that porn could be more than just the crud you see pushed all over the place (gonzo, primarily). The 17 minute long Behind the Scenes feature shot by Joone was also interesting to watch; I wish he'd shoot more of these for features released by the company though I'm told lead director Robby D. opposes that idea because it kills the fantasy. Seeing extra sex footage of Jesse banging away though is always a plus in my book so don't pass it up. The 4.5 minute long Bloopers Reel wasn't as well developed but that's sometimes the nature of the game (though Jesse had a funny little bit you have to see to believe). There was also a photogallery, biographies for Nic and Jesse, and trailers to shows like Island Fever 2, Sinful Creations, Three Timing, Digital Playground's All Star, The Hitman, Beat The Devil, Sex in the Valley, No Limits, Rush, Virtual Sex with Jesse Jane, Virtual Sex With Nikki Tyler, Jack's Playground 8, Jack's Playground 7, Jack's Playground 6, Jack's Playground 5, Jack's Playground 4, and Jack's Playground 1, among others.

Audio/Video Quality: Loaded was presented in a non-anamorphic 1.85:1 ratio widescreen color as originally shot by director Nic Andrews for Digital Playground. The movie was shot to look like it was on film so there were some moments of grain but it looked appropriate for the type of feature it was in almost all scenes. The lighting was solid, the composition of the scenes (both the sex scenes and the plot scenes) were all handled as well as anything else that was made up to this point. I would've preferred the sex scenes lasted a lot longer but in terms of the action and plot aspects of the movie; no one can reasonably deny that a lot of care went into the production of the picture. Heck, I've seen a lot of cop action movies that looked worse than this one (that I'm sure cost a great deal more and had far less sex). To nitpick, there were numerous minor flaws but the movie looked convincing for what it was trying to be. The DVD could've been mastered in anamorphic widescreen and shot in HD (it was reportedly the last Digital Playground feature not shot in HD) but it was fun to watch nonetheless.

The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English. The vocals seemed shot in monaural but were handled well enough that I barely noticed the few times when some of them were dubbed in. The music track was one of the best I've heard, even today, with a variety of types of music heard throughout the scene that compared favorably to mainstream titles made on moderate budgets. The music seemed to have some separation between the channels and the dynamic range overall was better than average. My biggest issue with the audio track was actually how some of the scenes relied on music rather than the sex sounds couples make. This issue pops up more nowadays but I don't think I'll ever like music over vocals so your own mileage may vary.

Body of Review: One of the things I've noticed in recent years about porn companies is that when a company releases a large scale project, some of their older works get revisited too. One case in point is Digital Playground's Pirates where the lovely Jesse Jane stars as a pirate hunting buccaneer has broken sales records all over the place; leading new fans to search out her older works. Suffice it to say, she has very few full length movies available but one of her best in terms of blending mainstream action and porn-styled sex has to be Loaded. The movie had a couple of good scenes with the lovely starlet and a solid supporting cast for the sex but it also had more action than many cop shows or made for cable movies that I've seen too (including Jess's own Busty Cops seen on late night premium cable). The story was a tribute of sorts to several different mainstream flicks where an auto theft ring chases down a witness to a murder with two detectives trying their best to protect the young lady from harm. The story had many of the same clichés you'll find in other shows but the point to remember is that while the sex was very strokable, the action was enough to get you to put the remote control down and actually watch the plot points of the movie. Like my mainstream reviews, I'm not going to fuck you over by outlining the entire plot and story (ruining the story for you) but concentrate my efforts on showing you what kind of sex took place with whom so you can decide if it might be for you. Here's the sex scene breakdown of the movie, briefly describing the pairings and actions, noting that no condoms were used in them at all:

Scene One: Brittney Skye, playing a street racer gal in a skimpy outfit, ended up teasing Cheyne Collins into the back of a van to have the opening scene. It was a cramped location but she made the most of it while she sucked him off like the nasty gal she has long seemed to be. Using her hand and eye contact, she got him ready for the fun but he paused to give her a tonguing of his own as she lay back with her legs in the air. Her implants distracted me but she had one of the most appealing pussies I've seen and I could see why he went right to hammering away at it for a few moments. This didn't last long before he rubbed out a load but it was an okay way to start the movie's sexual fun.

Scene Two: Lea DeMae, one of the hottest looking blondes to ever grace porn, was up in the second scene with old man Tyce Bune, on a crappy couch. Scenes like this one that were made before her tragic passing but like all of her scenes, she gave a lot of energy as she sucked and fucked her way into his pants. That she had lovely, all natural breasts to go with her superior sexual skills was a bonus but the oral and vaginal sex were as well done as any other in the movie (if not better). The facial wasn't anything special but I doubt I'd ever get enough of seeing her in action.

Scene Three: Jesse Jane, the leading lady of the movie and easily the reason why most people would consider buying it, was up next in a bed scene with the muscular Lee Stone. I've seen almost all of her movies and still maintain that she gets better as she learns more about how to portray sex in a porno so this really doesn't hold up compared to her newer work but it was still a very well done scene. The lack of a vocal track really weakened it and I've never been a fan of her implants but her charisma enhanced the scene a lot for me. Both seemed turned on during the oral but it was the vaginal ride where she aggressively bounced on his cock and if you watch the BTS feature; you'll see how much she enjoyed the sex even when the primary cameras weren't rolling. The sex was so strong between them that he popped early on her abdomen and she kissed him gently before the plot based stuff came back into focus.

Scene Four: Jesse Jane, dressed down in blue jeans and a black tank top, was on the lame from the gangsters with Eric Masterson when the two had the next scene. It began with a tender kiss, something rarely seen in the fast paced world of gonzo-driven splooged-fests, and progressed more naturally as the two started stripping off each other's clothes. If Jesse has ever looked more enticing with clothes on (except maybe when she was sitting next to me once), I'm unaware of it and she started sucking him off as he kicked back on the bed. The looks she gave him combined with her playful tongue flicking on the tip of his shaft added some heat to the scene and her ability to grind into his body as he boned her was also sweet. I'd add about 20 pounds to her frame if given the choice but in all, the action (and her look here) stands the test of time even if I'd have added the vocals back in. Whew!

Scene Five: Asia Carrera, one of my favorite performers throughout the 1990's and early 2000's, ended her career with this scene boning Barrett Blade in the cramped office. The editing conveyed the sexuality of the scene much like a decent mainstream movie (typically the slow fades, MTV edits, and dissolves); something I haven't thought of earlier in the scene but her oral was well done and the product of years of training in the industry. She's done more in other movies and she's shown more chemistry elsewhere but this was a great way for her to end her onscreen career. If you're a raincoater, the scene might not work for you but I'm versatile when it comes to watching hot ladies screw on camera. The pop shot was another chest blaster for those who care but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a slave to facials since there's nothing appealing about them to me.

Summary: Loaded was one of those feature porn flicks that has received mixed press since it came out a few years ago with a handful of curmudgeons telling the world that it wasn't up to mainstream standards (so why bother making it) and others suggesting it was another leap forward in the progression of porn to mainstream that companies like Digital Playground and Wicked Pictures have been pushing for years. The cast was talented and skilled to the point where I'd be lying if I said they were noticeably worse actors in the plot parts of the movie than most mainstream actors would've been. There wasn't much ground covered that I haven't seen before but the fact that most of those cases involved far bigger budgets on Hollywood shoots spoke volumes about the quality levels of the production. The extras were also decent in adding value so I thought the movie was worth a rating of Highly Recommended. Even a couple of years after its original release, the movie stands out as indicative of the kind of quality Digital Playground can offer when it wants to showcase a gal as hot as Jesse.
