Extra's: The best extra for me was the 34.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Xavier Towers. I have always appreciated the more detailed, lengthier features like this that allow the cast and crew to not only explain some of their roles in the movie but also provide fans a chance to see their favorite performers as human beings. I also liked the humor on the set as it provided some cute moments too. I didn't see any of the listed trailers on the second disc but there were three photogalleries and a cardboard protective sleeve for the DVD case worth mentioning.

Audio/Video Quality: She Bangs! was presented in the same 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director James Avalon for distribution by Red Light District, perhaps best known for offering the best gonzo value in porn these days. The colors were slightly faded and the lighting not optimal this time but the sex was heated enough and the humor good enough to distract me more often than not. The colors were overly saturated and there was some grain due to the lighting but in all, I didn't mind the difficulties encountered on my viewing of the show. There weren't any compression artifacts observed but there was some shimmer in a few scenes due to the outfits worn by some of the cast. The 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo audio track in English was okay but there wasn't a lot of separation or dynamic range to speak of and the vocals seemed somewhat hollow at time. Still, the vocals were easily heard and the music didn't get in the way much.

Body of Review: James Avalon is one of those unassuming guys in porn that has a lot of talent but also seems grounded in the realities of his profession. When I spoke to him last month at the 2006 AEE Show, we discussed what type of projects he hoped to do in the future and where he might eventually land. The rumormill has him leaving RLD as so many others have done in recent months but I really think he adds a lot to their often generic gonzo fare. A quick look at his handful of movies for the company (award winning movies I might add) show that he's equally capable of handling plot elements and sex elements with no quarter asked or given on the hardcore sex as some had originally predicted would occur. Contrast this with the efforts of other directors that seem to lighten up on the sex the same day they start directing feature porn and you can see why I appreciate his ability to combine the two styles in a manner that lends a lot of replay value to his work. While I missed out on his cowboy comedy, his other titles were a lot of fun and the same can be said for the substantially lower budget She Bangs!, his latest comedy for RLD. The story is about an undercover cop played by Sunny Lane who overcomes her sexual inhibitions to catch a porn kingpin involved in other criminal activity by becoming the next big name in porn. While a few more plot elements might've tied this in better, I'm glad that when push came to shove, the sexual material was not the aspect of the movie cut back. That said, here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used in the scenes:

Scene One: Gia Jordan, one of the most talented hotties in porn, was up first on the scene of a porn set with Erik Everhard and Steve Holmes as her partners (Manuel played the sleazy director with John Strong as his cameraman). After some discussion of rates, she took them on with the proviso that she'd be fucking them (and not vice versa). They stuck their dicks in her mouth at the same time and gag-fucked her before the men each took her from both ends. This got John all hot and bothered so he jumped in for some DP action which meant all three of her holes were full at the same time. She was an active participant of the scene, seeming to enjoy the action more than a little bit, using dirty talk to coax them on. As they continued, even Manuel jumped in with each guy taking turns on that precious ass of hers, leading to the multiple mouth loads of semen that she swallowed to close things out. After the half hour long scene, the scene ended on a humorous note with a sly wink to the previous ownership of Red Light District. Whew!

Scene Two: Sunny Lane, the hotty on the front DVD cover that seemed about half the size needed to fit in her sergeants police uniform, was up next as she went undercover to catch a porn kingpin. The joke was that she was frigid and wouldn't even fuck her boyfriend (Brandon Iron), so when she was called out to prove her sexual skill, she took on John Strong and Manuel Ferrara on their crappy set. She sucked and fucked them (vaginally though) with far more skill than any virgin would do although her performance style was indeed a reminder that she's not the most skillful porn performer in the world (or maybe she's just a better actress). Still, her milky white skin contrasted nicely with theirs and she was appealing in the scene as they worked her over enthusiastically.

Scene Three: Jenna Presley and Tiffany Taylor, also playing undercover cops dressed in skimpy outfits, were up next on bait & switch operation involving the porn director's accountant played by Steve Holmes. His acting ability wasn't nearly as skillful as his swordsmanship but the trio had a lot of fun with oral and vaginal (both gals doing far more than most cops would do for a bust). The scene didn't have anal as I expected but it showed the gals giving over the top performances as they did the deed on the desk and nearby chair. There was some added tease footage when he rubbed his dick on their clits a bit but in all, it was a passionate little scene (set to a light version of 1970's porn music). It ended with a pop shot to the chest with some licking of the semen afterwards.

Scene Four: Sunny Lane, now self actualized by her recent exploits in porn, had a limited scene on the couch with Brandon Iron where she jerked and sucked him off as a preview of things to come on their wedding night. I thought it worked well within the confines of the plot though I wanted her to do more.

Scene Five: Sunny Lane, on the scene of another porn set to uncover the second set of books, is caught by muscular Tommy Gunn in the bedroom. To keep him happy, she drops to her knees and sucks away on him with ever more vigor, showing her gradual learning curve in the oral arts. This worked well enough for her that she disrobed her purple satin outfit to present her full entourage of heavenly delights to him, though again she only did vaginal with him. It was a playful blowjob that got him rock hard and he tore into her doggy style before they tried several other positions. She was loud and proud about the fun she was having with him, ending it when he popped on her abdomen for some oral cleaning.

Scene Six: Lacie Heart, Karina Kay, Georgia Peach, Sunny Lane, Sascha, Manuel Ferrara, and John Strong, were up last in the lengthy orgy scene in the living room by the fireplace. It was a big mass of flesh with the standard type of music playing in the background as lesbians paired, Georgia humped the couch, and Manuel offered up his cock to Sunny. Georgia took over on the oral and eventually became the anal queen of the scene, doing a DP (or three) while the other gals were content to do strictly vaginal. It ended with lots of taste testing and semen taken orally, marking a decent orgy scene (such scenes are tough to get right and while this one wasn't as good as many that Jim Holliday made in his day, it was still fun to watch with good replay value).

Summary: She Bangs! might not have looked quite as good as some of the other features on the market but in terms of sexual heat, it surpassed all but a few. Further, while I thought the amount of fuck for the buck, second disc extras, and winning cast made it worth a rating of Recommended, any fan of Sunny Lane should consider this a must buy as it showcases her in almost every scene. For a single performer to get that much exposure in a feature, albeit a hardcore feature like this one, speaks volumes for her appeal to those involved in making the movie; seasoned professionals that have seen a lot of gals come and go (hopefully more of them coming repeatedly of course). I know James thinks she's a fresh hotty worth every second of screen time and I saw the lines of fans clamoring to get a moment with her so perhaps they're right; there's no denying her look and growing skill. Check it out and you'll see what I mean but spend the time to watch the plot points too since they were often very amusing to outright hilarious (in a usually understated way).
