Audio/Video Quality: Angels of Debauchery 5 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jonni Darkko for distribution by Evil Angel. Having watched his works for years now, I can safely say that he has been improving the quality of his work in regards to technical matters just as he has been getting better at displaying passion and heat in the scenes he shoots. This title was another case where he surpassed the visual qualities of his peers at the company by using solid lighting (with minor exceptions) that got rid of the grain, video noise, and related flaws. He also seemed to spend some time enhancing the quality of the looks of the gals using camera angles that flattered them individually instead of a cookie cutter approach as in the past. For all these improvements, I tip my hat to his care and consideration. The DVD had no compression artifacts or other flaws added in during the mastering process so it was a nice looking DVD too. The 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo audio wasn't as pleasing as the visuals since they typically started out with droning musical pieces and moved onto almost always quiet action sequences. I hate rap and thump heavy music in porn, especially when the vocals are weakened because of them, so this was an area needing lots of TLC in the future.

Body of Review: Jonni Darkko is the type of porn director that lets his work do the talking for him rather than get in your face as some of his peers do. While this sometimes keeps him from receiving the kind of accolades he deserves, it also makes him one of the best kept secrets in porn if you believe what people say about him. Reports are that one of his alias names from a past company are still being kept alive on the strength of his long finished work for them although the imitators seem to have his routine down a little too well for me to think he's not still directing for them once in a while. That said, his latest release is Angels of Debauchery 5, a title that shows the cast having various forms of hardcore sex after doing some ample teasing, typically to lame music that gave me a headache. I have only seen one other title in the series, Angels of Debauchery 2, and liked it well enough, but there really doesn't seem to be any specific theme to set this one apart from the crowded field of porn so your mileage may vary as to whether or not you like it. Here's a quick breakdown of the scenes, noting that no condoms were used at all:

Scene One: Alektra Blue and Jamie Huxley, a couple of brunettes with lean, all natural bodies, started off the show by giving the camera some lesbian action in their mesh outfits. The technical values were better than I'm used to from Evil Angel and Jonni seemed to be in solid form, I just wish he had polished the rougher edges more than was allowed this time given the nature of the show. I still wonder why Jonni's peers at Evil Angel regularly provide much lengthier movies for the same price but I'll give him credit for offering some consistently stroke-worthy porn, regardless of length.
