Extras: There were some decent extras included this time that started off with a 10 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, carried through with 20.5 minutes worth of interviews, a photogallery, a sausage "deepthroating" contest where Missy Monroe cleaned up, and a web access feature that required installing software so I passed it up. Taryn came across as a name dropper in the BTS feature, then told the camera why she was anal shy this time (if she wasn't up to giving her all, she should've passed on the movie), but I was still wishing she would've had a better chance at winning (she's a major hotty and deserves better but she seemed to have extra attitude here). There was no section of biographies as advertised on the back cover but the interviews were pretty extensive in that sense and I doubt anything of importance was missed.

Audio/Video Quality: Cousin Stevie's Pussy Party 14 was shot in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as directed by Cousin Stevie for distribution by Pure Play Media. The lighting of this gonzo gem wasn't the best but it was an improvement on previous volumes of the show (keeping in mind that limitations were largely due to the gonzo nature of the show). In order to maintain some sense of spontaneity, the production made use of a roving camera that caused some of the scenes to seem out of place at times. For some of us, the raw energy on display easily compensates for the additional grain and minor video noise this adds while others have expounded on the lack of technical quality this presents. Personally, I'm not a fan of lowering the technical quality for any reason and I often dismiss the belief that gonzo "looks that way" unlike critics elsewhere since I've seen plenty of flat lighting used in some shoots that worked better but Stevie's crew worked on this since I last watched a volume and it showed. In Stevie's case, much like his mentor Seymore Butts, he gets away with it thanks in large part to the casting choices he makes but it was interesting to see the improvements happen so soon. Still, the composition of many of the shots did enhance the looks of the ladies more than usual too, even if not making them look as nicely as they could have. That said, the production looked pretty good and conveyed a sense of heat in many cases with no observable compression artifacts noticed. The 2.0 Dolby Digital audio was basic with no separation between the channels and about the level of quality I'd expect from a generic gonzo movie but I could hear all the action going on and that's the important thing.

Body of Review: Cousin Stevie is the grumpy older man from the Seymore Butts universe as seen on the Showtime series Family Business. To say that he adds a sense of humor and delight that no one else in the cast does isn't going far enough, even if the general premise is about fans trying to catch a glimpse of their favorite porn performers rather than laugh out loud. Well, a few years back, Stevie started a lesbian series where gals would compete against one another in various categories, the winner earning extra money. Today's review is of the latest volume, Cousin Stevie's Pussy Party 14: King Klit, where some of the basics were changed but the premise stayed the same; gals getting one another off for the viewer to appreciate. Here's a brief look at the three sections the DVD had to offer, noting that no men got to play this time:

Scene One: Solo: Unlike previous volumes in the series, the gals weren't introduced at the beginning and they weren't given the formal entry runway walk in front of the judges but a lot of people probably appreciate that they skipped the formalities in favor of getting down to business sooner. The quality of a masturbation scene lies primarily in how well the gals can convince the audience that they are getting off. Fake screaming, lube in place of actual female wetness, and perhaps a hundred other factors contribute to the believability factor of such scenes though even a fake solo scene is better than a real kick in the nuts. Cousin Stevie's method for showcasing the gals involved having them in the desolate room with spray paint on the walls and limited furniture, commenting (sometimes coaching) from behind the camera. Brandy Wylde started off the festivities this time by masturbating with a lengthy glass dildo from Phallix on a black leather loveseat, to be followed by Missy Monroe proving up her skills with a glass dildo, Amber Peach using a vibrator, Kami Andrews (doing a short, no toys bit that really worked), Erika Kole sucking her own toes, Vivian West using a brand new toy, Monica Sweetheart giving a shy, understated performance that sent shivers down my crotch, and then moving onto the couples section without showing off Taryn Thomas (whose name was misspelled several times as were other words in the credits). In my opinion, Kami won for most aggressive sexuality while Monica would have me going back for more repeatedly and Missy providing something in between.

Scene Two: Couples: With almost the first half hour over, the action moved on to showing the gals pairing up; starting with Monica and Brandy in sexy lingerie. They were good at their chosen career with Brandy trying to compensate for her age by driving home a harder act than Monica's sweet routine. Erika joined in for a moment to snack on Monica's crack (I can't say that I blame her) but she retreated to the next scene for a lot more action. The pairings weren't important since all of them showed some heated fun and Taryn finally got some time to shine. The best couple scene of the movie was easily Kami and Missy going at one another since it was the most extreme, had the most footage, and had the largest toys with the most ATM (ass to mouth). Essentially, their chemistry, performing skill, and ability to convey a sense of passion were off the charts.

Scene Three: 4 Girl Orgy: Began on a high note with Taryn, Kami, Missy and Vivian competing against Brandy, Monica, Erika, and Amber. The first team was louder, rougher, and more sexually aggressive while the second team seemed to lose out in the editing process. They eventually combined into one big heap of bodies that fluidly moved about to sample whomever they wanted to at a given time, even using a wooden stockade to control Missy. This went on for most of the show, with the permutations of action not quite endless but close enough that fans of lesbian orgies should be pleased to check them out.

Summary: Cousin Stevie's Pussy Party 14 was worthy of a Recommended from me for all the ladies, the replay value, and the technical qualities as much as the decent extras. Porn journalist notables like Mark Kernes, Luke Ford (at least he looked a lot like him), and Gram Ponante and others were in the background, presumably as judges since they weren't introduced this time. I'm not going to disclose the winners although in my mind, Kami Andrews and Missy Monroe were easily head and shoulders above the rest of the gals with Monica Sweetheart providing some nice girl contrast to their extreme antics. I know that editing, camera work, and a host of other factors limit the home viewer's ability to see why one gal won over another but that is the fault of the editing process more than anything else. In all, there was a lot of replay value but I hope Stevie works out the direction he's taking the series since this one seemed to be a transitional effort (still good but not quite there).
