Extras: The only extras on the first disc of the set was a single filmography, a cast list, and a biography for Erik Everhard. The best extra of the second disc was the lengthy bonus scene between Pamela and Erik Everhard that lasted well over a half hour long, including a full set of sex acts shot in POV fashion (not just a blowjob). It showed her skills better than her scene with the others did. I also liked the 32 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showed how little knowledge of chemistry pornographers (other than Steve Holmes) have when one was afraid that a helium balloon would explode if Steve's cigarette hit it (Helium is a noble gas, incapable of explosive combustion folks: brought to you by "Dr. Science" Don Houston). There was more sex, lots of nudity, and a sense of fun that is often missing in BTS features these days. Watch it after the movie though since some of the scene set ups were revealed and you'll want to maintain the illusion to stroke off to. There was also a cumshot recap, a photogallery, and a trailer for Erik's next release along with the rest of the movie.

Audio/Video Quality: Canadian Beaver was presented in the same 1.85:1 ratio non-anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Erik Everhard for distribution by Evil Angel. The fleshtones were very accurate, the composition of the shots enhanced the look of the gals, and the lighting was pretty decent too in most scenes although this was definitely not the same kind of porn Erik shot for his previous company by a long shot. If you've seen any of the traveling movies made by Seymore Butts or the Shane's World people, you'll have an understanding of what to expect, with Erik generally doing a better job of it in most ways. There were no compression artifacts or video noise either so the DVD mastering appears to have been done pretty well too. The stereo English audio was more of a basic matter though. The dynamic range was okay and the separation nonexistent but I could hear all the moans and groans well enough for my tastes.

Body of Review: Erik Everhard has a pretty loyal following these days due to the manner in which he seems almost animalistic and driven when engaged in sex with an attractive lady. This was likely the reasoning behind the invitation extended to him to join the Evil Angel Empire last year, which he did after leaving his long term association with Red Light District and sister company Platinum X Pictures. Thankfully, his first release under their banner showed he was willing to expand the "sex on a generic couch" approach that worked, but only as a basic porno can do, with the title Canadian Beaver as the result. The show had Erik in his native land of Canada picking up gals with the help of his friend Zeina, going all over the place in order to get off with talent not seen a million times before. Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used and the ladies were not bad at their profession:

Scene One: Zeina Heart, the gorgeous brunette featured on the left hand side of the front DVD cover in white stockings, was up first in an apartment that looked very similar to my place in terms of cleanliness. Her lean body, thick lower lip, and playful demeanor were all working in her favor as she started off the scene by sucking on Erik Everhard's penis; asking him if it was okay. Of course he replied in the affirmative though she teased by stopping there until they went to the airport to pick up Steve Holmes. This happy reunion led to the guys enjoying her services in the back of the SUV with the trio sucking, fucking, and feeling one another up as Erik held the camera for some POV footage. It was a cramped scene but better handled than many similar efforts by other companies, and something I wish Erik had done more of during his stay with Red Light District/PXP. They continued to go at it once they were inside the apartment though, with her sucking one off while the other screwed her energetically. There was anal, vaginal, blowjobs and taste testing and though it wasn't the hardest scene I've seen from Erik in the past, it was fun to watch.

Scene Two: Briana Devil, Vanessa Gold, Zeina Heart, Erik Everhard, and Steve Holmes, were up next as Zeina took them to Bar G-String, a strip club in Canada. It looked to be a slow day and the strippers had little to do as the men made catcalls to the stage dancers (as Zeina jerked the guys off at the table). The ladies were the multi-colored hair gal on the center of the cover, then the blonde on the right hand side, with the action turning into a free for all on the stage as the three ladies attacked the two men in all sorts of heated ways. It was mostly oral and vaginal with some limited lesbian action and swallowing to finish it off. The gals were all active at some point in the scene though it the scene served as notice that Erik wasn't going to limit himself to a bunch of formulaic couch sex scenes in the future.

Scene Three: Patricia Petite, Myriam, Pamela, Erik Everhard, and Steve Holmes were up next in the large hotel suite after Zeina helped the two guys pick up some escorts in the lobby. Sadly, she didn't stay to enjoy the fun but the three gals (as seen on the upper left hand DVD cover) knew their trade well enough to insist on getting it on in the master tub of the suite. It was good, clean fun as the five went to work on one another and I was happy that they introduced themselves initially but the relative strengths of the gals varied quite a bit. Some were better at oral, others at actively riding, and I guess my biggest issue was how lacking in balance parts of the scene were. As the scene progressed, there was a lot of bareback anal sex going on but the men did most of the work so that limited the heat for me. Patricia, the gal with bright orange dyed hair, took their loads into her mouth at the end of the scene, presumably to swallow them down. The first couple of hours of the movie over, this wasn't a great scene but it was certainly a very good scene in terms of them all mixing it up, if not pure sexual heat.

Scene Four: Lea, India Summer, Zeina Heart, Erik Everhard, and Steve Holmes, were up in the last scene from the first disc of the set as Zeina opened the door to invite the men inside her fancy place. I loved her outfit and India's ass was awesome but the whole set up looked good to me. The large living room allowed the guys to pair off with a gal or two of their choosing, with the ladies stripping out of their restrictive outfits before too long in order to play with the men (and each other), though I wonder how many times Erik is going to showcase his love of Calvin Klein underwear before they start fussing at him. As in the previous scenes, the men were the most sexually active partners of the scene (thankfully not with each other, despite what a guy named "Art" would beg for in the forums here) and the oral with vaginal sex took up most of the screen time here. If you like taste testing by women and a less sexually aggressive cast, you'll find this one to be even better than I did (I liked the action but not as much as I would have if the ladies were more into the scene). It ended with some cumswapping for those who care, and the kind of swallowing action most of you favor these days.

Scene Five: Destiny Vicious, Naika, Zeina Heart, Erik Everhard, and Steve Holmes finished out the last scene as shown on the second disc of the set. The ladies were flashing them from another car in a parking lot, leading them to a marina where the group all got to enjoy the better part of an hour together on a small boat. There was a lot of tease on the craft too although the best sex took place once they left the dock and got out away from public. The sex was the same kind of thing with oral, taste testing, handjob, vaginal and lesbian tricks on hand, ending with the pop shots to the mouth as expected. Compared to some of Erik's releases on the couch that he made at RLD/PXP, the technical values were weak but the show always looked better than similar scenes by Seymore, Shane, and other travelogue acts have provided over the years. In all, there was more raw energy on display here, with a typically sharp picture, although a lot of the footage could've been tightened up with more editing if a cleaner look was desired.

Summary: Canadian Beaver was not the best work I've seen from Erik in recent years but it had more of the fun factor that wasn't always present in his works at RLD/PXP and that's a good thing. There were times when I wanted some of the cast to submit to the old way of doing things but this was definitely a nice change of pace form the kind of action that earned Erik a place on our Blue Room column's Spotlight Series. I think a rating of Recommended is fair for what this one offered (as well as what it didn't offer) from the renaissance man himself, while admittedly showing a lot of fuck for the buck with less known ladies worthy of your attention. Give it a look and your worries that Erik might've jumped the shark will disappear, although I hope he doesn't give up on his roots totally given some of the technical issues present this time.
