Extras: Most of you will likely prefer the five bonus scenes (this was another case where none of them had the lead star, Stefani Morgan, in any of them but this being the gal's first movie, there was a good reason this time). My favorite extra designed for the DVD itself was the 14.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature credited to Victoria Woodhill and Ben Hoffman. There were two photogalleries (one starring Stefani Morgan), a short text biography of Stefani Morgan, a positions room, trailers for movies like The New Devil In Miss Jones, Who Do You Love?, Desperate and Where the Boys Aren't 17, some advertisements (that can be skipped at the front of the DVD: thanks to Vivid for listening to our pleas), and a true double sided DVD cover.

Audio/Video Quality: Star was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Paul Thomas for Vivid Entertainment. There was a lot of grain this time, partially due to the lighting and partially due to the way that Paul likes his movies to have a "film look". The video noise was obtrusive some of the time and this was definitely not his best looking title of late. There were no compression artifacts though but the composition of the shots was mixed in terms of making the gals look their best. The 2.0 Dolby Digital audio track was hollow with no separation between the channels but I could hear the vocals well enough to know what they were saying.

Body of Review: Paul Thomas is the most experienced director at Vivid but critics sometimes claim that is a fault with the company rather than a compliment for the man. I've had mixed feelings about his past work since he can do a great job and do a lame job, depending on what kind of budget he has and how much he cares about a project. Today's review is on Star, a feature about a pop star from Texas on the road to promote his latest album, and the girls trying to get in his pants (primarily Vivid newcomer Stefani Morgan in her second scene in porn). The back cover said this about the show: "Adult's most awarded director Paul Thomas joins Girls Gone Wild's biggest superstar Stefani Morgan in a comedy as big as the Texas landscape in which it was shot. Star! Nick Manning's birdy, the smarmy rock star visiting the little panhandle town where groupies like Stefani and her horny friends are easy pickings. And even if it takes two anals, they'll get on his show and in his pants before the second encore! You're about to witness the emergence of a major new star, Stefani Morgan. Don't miss Star. This kind of show doesn't come through town very often…" Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that the movie seemed to run over budget and was cut accordingly:

Scene One: A Small Town Boy: Stefani Morgan, the all natural cover cutie in her first adult starring role, played a not-so innocent young lady in a scene where she seduced boyfriend Trent Tesoro out of the bathroom and into the living room for some heated fun. Scene Three: Audition: Dillan Lauren, the lean brunette hardbody with the enchanting face, was up next in the office with Steven St. Croix as she offered to trade her sexual skills for a place on the show with the star (played by Nick). This led to a straightforward vaginal screw that worked except for the number of close ups and way she looked at the camera. The facial was limited and the results of the action mixed but I like watching her nonetheless.

Scene Five: A Big Ass Eagle: Stefani Morgan, all naked in the bed with Nick Manning, was rewarded for saving him from the bad guys (though her bruised arm stuck out a lot more this time). He was the sexual aggressor and she passively laid back while he sucked and licked her body until it came time to give him a little head. It wasn't a bad blowjob but it seemed like she had limited experience and energy to put forth, limiting the heat of the action. The good news was that she seemed more enthusiastic about riding his dick in her pussy (and Nick wasn't nearly as talkative as usual). There were only a couple of positions before he rubbed out a load onto her face.

Summary: Star had some decent sex but the plot elements seemed to run into some significant problems along the way. The movie appeared, at times, to be shooting as a comedy (Nick's bad singing is always funny) and then alternating as a drama. I was also disappointed that Gia Jordan didn't get a scene or it was edited out for some reason if she did but Stefani's scenes showed again that she has some untapped potential worth keeping an eye out for. The extras were decent and the very short movie was probably best described as a Rent It unless you're a fan of the cast, wanting to see the Girls Gone Wild starlet Stefani Morgan au natural in her second porno.
