Extras: For some of you, the best extra will be the bonus scene from Britney Rears 1 so I included my recap of it down below. I prefer original content in my porn so for me there were better extras such as the six Behind the Scenes segments including: Press Conference, Photoshoot, On the Set, Making the Music Video, Director/Producer Interview, and Out-takes and Fuckups. In all, there was 82 minutes worth of such footage, complete with extra sex and a lot of the hard work by those who made the concept work (Jeff and Scott in particular). The bitchy make up artist (Lisa Marie) had a point about her craft enhancing the look of the ladies (at least she was too polite to mention names) but there were a great many anecdotes worth paying attention to. There was also an option to watch all the non-sex parts of the movie continuously, lasting about 19 minutes. This was followed by the music video I Wanna Get Laid and a couple of trailers. The last special extra was a photogallery; followed by generic Hustler extras (6 trailers and their usual commercials).

Audio/Video Quality: Britney Rears 2 was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Will Ryder for release by Hustler Video (instead of VCA Pictures like last time). Will has had a fair amount of time to improve his technical skills and he has done so, likely with the guidance of Jeff Mullen (insider joke), making this release look a lot better most of the time. The lighting was almost always solid, the resulting levels of grain minimized, and the composition of the shots was far more favorable to the ladies than the previous release in the series. Some of the editing was rough and in need of more work but the overall visual appeal of the movie was pretty good (certainly better than I originally expected). The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo English, with plain vocals and some decent music adding to the parody of the show. The song was even more irritating than a "real" Britney Spears song (though I actually admit to liking some of them) but too similar to the first song that played on a number of radio stations as a "goof" song (which is part of the point; pop music typically songs alike). I think Jeff and Scott might've missed their calling in this regard, writing catchy jingles for advertisements or pop hacks.

Body of Review: Britney Rears 1 was a smash success by porn standards, propelling an already established performer in a completely new light as a parody of pop singer Britney Spears. To some extent, its success was the result of a highly aggressive marketing campaign, with "Britney" becoming the darling of the Howard Stern Show and at least a hundred radio stations playing the pop parody song at some point or another. In terms of positive press for the porn industry, the movie was certainly the type that should be rewarded (there were numerous mainstream articles) although the sex was far from special, no matter what anyone tells you. Well, the sequel is out with Britney Rears 2: I Wanna Get Laid! and I can honestly tell you that it was better in every way. The extras were solid, the sex included some very heated scenes, and the amount of fuck for the buck substantially improved this time as the parody spent most of the time focusing on the lip synching controversy (okay, it wasn't exactly a timely issue for Britney Spears but this is porn after all). Here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Jenaveve Jolie, a major brunette hotty in a shiny purple outfit, was up first in a scene with Barrett Blade inside the mansion. She's an excellent choice to start out the movie given her sexual skill, looks, and ability to perform as though she's getting off. This couch scene was no different as he went down on her as she showed how flexible she is and then popped inside her pussy before she did some PTM. The oral was playful and showed the skill I mentioned earlier, with her deepthroating better than ever. She was a very active ride as she impaled herself on his cock, even giving him a titty fuck before they went back tearing into one another. Scene Two: Eva Angelina, another gal that is on the short list for quality, wore her glasses and took care of James Deen on a couch up next. This was another chemistry filled scene with plenty of replay value, making the movie better so far than the entire original flick.

Scene Three: Jessica "Britney Rears" Sweet, the gal on the front DVD cover, was up next as she cuddled on the couch in the game room with Sascha. Her large, all natural breasts were impressive but her performance was similar to her first movie in the title role so after watching two of the best in porn, this was kind of a letdown. Her fake moaning was too off the wall and her oral skills were really rough (initially). I'm not saying I'd kick her out of bed but you'd think she would've picked up some skills after 50+ movies under the name Jessica Sweet. In her favor, as she warmed up she did seem to pick up the pace a bit and even a cold mechanical ride is better than what she has offered in the past. With some more tweaking, she could be a good lay on camera but she was still too self conscious and any parts where she seemed to liven up were edited into parts where she fell flat. Even the limited anal was such that she seemed to be performing on command as instructed rather than having fun. The ending facial was pretty good though and I had mixed feelings about the scene when all was said and done.

Scene Four: Jessica "Britney Rears" Sweet, in her pink "bubble gum" crop top, was up next at a press conference with the lovely and skilled Shy Love and bald Scott Nails. This was an interesting concept as the trio ended up on the floor with both gals double teaming his cock and balls. Kapri was totally unappealing to me (I like black gals just fine but not when they have boyish bodies) and Nikki seemed to be elsewhere during the scene, both weakening it and detracting from what could have been. As much as I think Jessica was not all that special, this was definitely a filler scene in all senses of the word.

Scene Six: Nadia Styles, a gal that looks a bit like a younger version of Stockard Channing, was next outside during the daylight with studly Jean Val Jean. Initially, Sunny was left off to the side and I thought that was a mistake since she's one of the fresher gals in porn these days (and a good choice to maintain the Britney Rears franchise now that Jessica has moved on). Summary: Britney Rears 2 provided more sex, better extras, and even better performances by a largely better cast. It still had some rough edges but even the technical values were better and the only relative weakness was how much the novelty wore off in the past year. In essence, the clever writing on a sequel has to be a lot better in order to instill the same sense of fun and humor; something that was not quite the case here. It was undoubtedly better written than the original and the overall package was well worth a rating of Recommended for entertainment value alone but a third volume in the series is going to have a lot of hurdles to overcome (outside of Jessica leaving the franchise-what a knucklehead!) to achieve the same level of appeal. In all though, it was a very cute porn parody of pop singer Britney Spears and I can see why it is destined to sell more product than any other title at Hustler this year.
