Extras: The best extra for most people will be the bonus scene from Addicted starring Cassie Courtland and Lee Stone. It wasn't the best big of boning on record for the two but it was pretty decent. I just with it had been made exclusively for the show. For me, the 10.5 minute interview with lead Celeste Star was the best extra made for the DVD. She was given ample time to discuss her role in the show, plans for the future, and show some sexual conduct with a montage of action added into the feature. There were a handful of trailers, a photogallery, and a double sided DVD cover too.

Audio/Video Quality: Crush was presented in an anamorphic widescreen color presentation with an approximate aspect ratio of 1.85:1 as shot by director Ethan Kane for release by Digital Sin. The most notable thing I can speak to initially is that it was heavy on special effects and light on straightforward sex, something many of you are going to want to know about. The lighting was a mixture of spotlights, strobe, colored gels, and all sorts of tricks used to convey a sense of style that many will either love…or hate. There was substantial slow motion and rapid editing to instill a sort of montage effect to many scenes that I liked at times but found how a little went a really, really long way. There was some grain and pattern noise but in favor of the visual presentation, it was not heavy with either detracting factor most of the time. If you're looking for something besides gonzo or alt-porn, this may work for you much like many of the recent movies from Digital Playground. There were no compression artifacts and the overall visual appeal wasn't bad. The audio was presented in a 2.0 stereo Dolby Digital with a loud, droning, music track that overwhelmed the vocals in most cases but did not completely eliminate them. I suppose this is a compromise between the times when the vocals are cut out in favor of music but the music itself could've been a lot less generic for me too. There was a sense of rhythm to the music that wasn't bad and future efforts might prove to be a lot better if the rough edges can be taken off.

Body of Review: Digital Sin has long been one of my favorite DVD companies in porn thanks to some very appealing features, vignettes, and series of directors that appeared to know what they were doing. They were an early adopter of the DVD format (and gearing up for the high definition formats now I'm told too) and set the pace for the competition in the first few years of the medium. Their latest stylish offering is Crush, a movie by new director Ethan Kane, best known for his work at Ninn Worx, bring a similar sense of style with him to Digital Sin. The movie focused on Celeste Star as a model full of insecurities that was given precious little dialogue as she maneuvered in and out of the scenes of the flick, with only one truly starring her. I think if she had done more than masturbate in a few scenes, fans would be more forgiving of her lesbian-only stance but I liked the "pretty porn" presentation more than a little, largely based on a wonderfully attractive cast. Here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Celeste Star, the attractive brunette on the front DVD cover with the awesome eyes, was up first as she was shown trying to become a model in the big city. She had a stylish montage and some limited dialogue as photographer Otto Bauer shot her and reaffirmed she'd be a big hit. Instead of him nailing her though, Celeste was shown stripping off her clothing stylishly on a spiral staircase and eventually hooking up with another popular hotty, Holly Morgan. Both gals did some masturbation with the slow motion action that marks Ethan's previous works at Ninn Worx, with the ladies getting a taste of clam from one another soon enough. Holly's fishnet top buzzed with pattern noise and the music took over the vocals (you could hear the vocals but only slightly). The fingering present was appealing too and eventually the metal colored vibrator came out. It wasn't the best opening scene in memory but it should suffice for fans of the two gals.

Scene Two: Daisy, playing a schoolgirl in a darkened forest at night, was stylishly lit and edited with loud music as she took care of Marco Duato/Banderas. Daisy is certainly exotic enough to appeal to me and if not for the special effects, I think I would have enjoyed this one substantially more. The streamers told me that she didn't care how messy it got as long as she got him off. She rode him vaginally with lots of hip grinding, bouncing on his meat nicely in the process. Scene Three: Alicia Angel, a thin little brunette with a pretty face and form-enhancing lingerie on, was the focal point of the next scene after Celeste Star was given a second chance to tease on an outdoor staircase by a waterfall. The music was too loud and the editing kept losing the sense of continuity she could have had but as Otto Bauer joined her in the background, her masturbation seemed to take my mind off the effects (as it was supposed to). Alicia took her place, then started sucking him off and the vocals were back enough to make out what was said, essentially that the music wasn't as big a detractor as it had been. This was another scene with some replay value but still hampered by the effects (both visual and auditory).

Scene Four: Tiffany Rayne, one of the hottest young ladies in porn these days with her mane of light hair, perfect ass, and beautiful face given the stylish treatment the other ladies had been given in the earlier scenes. Celeste was in the background masturbating but it was still Otto Bauer offering up the meat stick for her to play with. If you like the use of wind machines and spotlights in porn, you'll adore this one too as she was made to look very seductive in her fetish blue & black PVC corset/dress. The black thigh high boots were appealing too as was her vocal act when it was allowed into the movie, with her actively riding Otto's cock in doggy to show her perfect ass grinding on his cock. The anal was not her best work (she wasn't given a chance to ride his shaft as effectively) but I'd be misleading you if I said that she wasn't the best fuck of the movie for me. Scene Five: Franchezca Valentina, a curvy brunette fairly new to porn, was up last with studly Mick Blue. The tease here relied primarily on her ability to disrobe with a seductive look, as the editing put Celeste back into play again (most of the scenes had her edited in lightly). The throatfucking wasn't bad and the pounding of her pussy reminded me of Tiffany's swordsmanship, though her ultra-glamorous look was a bit off-putting. The scene seemed long on tease and light on action though, even the facial ending up largely on her chest (no swallowing). If you like stylish porn, some would say artsy fartsy porn, this was a tribute to Michael Ninn, Andrew Blake, and numerous others in the field but never quite as good in terms of deciding which way to go (it almost came off like someone trying to combine the best of both worlds but not quite managing to do so).

Summary: Crush will probably suit couples or those looking for something more stylish than the dominant genre of the day (gonzo) and managed to convince me that a rating of Recommended, while slightly on the high side, still seemed fair given the attempt to be something different yet strokable at the same time. The tease was not always as effectual as possible and the ladies could have been put to better use more than a few times but I thought Ethan's sense of flash could really work so much better if given more of a chance to evolve. Tiffany Rayne looked especially good but all of the ladies were choice picks for me given the plethora of pussy available these days and each of them was showcased in a pleasing manner. The levels of fuck for the buck might have been amped up some more but I think it's well worth checking out for most of you.
