Audio/Video Quality: Barely Legal #59 was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen (letterboxed) with an aspect ratio of about 1.85:1 as shot by Andre Madness for distribution by Hustler Video. The lighting was solid though, limiting the grain, video noise, and other factors dependant on lighting. The composition of the shots was decent, typically enhancing the look of the ladies, although some of the editing could've been tightened up. The fleshtones were accurate and I wondered why Hustler Video didn't provide the higher quality anamorphic widescreen since it would've been easy to do. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English stereo as expected. The vocals were okay, although the levels were greatly in need of being raised substantially, but at least there was no cheesy porn music track to contend with. I didn't hear any major separation between the tracks and the dynamic range but elevating the levels would've helped me enjoy a few of the scenes a lot more.

Body of Review: Clive McLean was one of the most respected men in porn for the way he treated people and the kind of vision he had for youthful women. Unlike others in the field, he relied not on circus act sex but on showcasing gals as plainly as possible, preferring to let their physical appeal sell his product. He was in charge of Hustler's various Barely Legal series until his untimely passing, with his wife and others taking over the role of director after he left this mortal coil. Today's review is of the latest release in the series, Barely Legal #59, a selection of five scenes by gals younger than me (though none of them seemed to be 18). Here's a look at the vignettes, noting that no condoms were used though there were some technical matters to deal with (audio problems, equipment seen popping into scenes, and limits on the skills of the ladies):

Scene One: Backstage Pass: Penny Flame, the cute, mid-20's stoner seen on the upper right hand corner of the front DVD cover, was up first playing a groupie in search of a backstage pass from security guard Jerry. She claimed to be 18 years old and he fell for it, giving her something more than a pass if you catch my drift. I'm a fan of hers and can overlook the age gap since she played a convincing teenager (better than some of the others too) but the scene looked really low budget to me. I actually enjoyed the active vaginal ride that she gave the most though since seeing her ass bob up and down was a treat to me (even though, if not especially because, she did not do anal). It ended when he jerked off to her abdomen though why she kept her sneakers on the entire time struck me as odd.

Scene Two: Just Jillin': Mia Rose, the lean hotty seen on the right hand side (second down from the top), was up next as she admitted to masturbating all the time (initially in a public parking lot, then on a bed). I've long called female masturbation "Jilling off" as opposed to jacking off so it was good to see someone else get with the program too (I'm not the first to use the term though). There was precious little tease when Jack Venice jumped between her legs to go down on her mechanically. If lizard licking is the type of oral she liked for real, I didn't get a sense of it as she seemed too mechanical in the way she accepted his routine mannerisms. Her blowjob was nothing great but at least she showed a spark of energy missing initially in the scene. She was very active at riding his cock in her pussy when she was on top, yelling out and otherwise turning up the heat, despite his lame performance. Scene Three: DMV Girl: Chloe Morgan, the youthful gal on the front cover (third down on the right hand side), really needed her drivers license badly given that she seduced mope squad member Brad Baldwin for an extra point on her test. Like some of the others, she's already been in a dozen or so movies but still looks fresh to me, especially given her appreciation for cock of all sorts. The oral was slower as she savored the taste for a few minutes, downing the modest member fairly well. His own oral was weak though the sheen of sweat covering her body was a nice touch. Her ultra petite body, some would say boyish, will appeal more to some of you than it did to me but once she warmed up she wasn't a bad ride. Scene Four: Military Man: Ashley Gracie, the cutie featured on the left hand side of the front DVD cover, appeared as old as Penny as she portrayed a gal on the prowl for a military guy shipping off to Iraq. Seth Dickens was the guy she found, taking care of him on the bed as he claimed to be shipping out for a repeat visit to the desert paradise (his Marine fatigues were the wrong type though). These two moved around a lot, causing troubles for the cameraman, but even though the vocals were substandard, I got the impression that he loved her taste as he dove down on her like a man truly on the verge of shipping out. She gave him a good hummer and eventually rode him actively once she was on top. Her breasts were kind of floppy but otherwise, she was a fine piece of poontang that was fun to watch. His load went to her mouth but was tiny and she actively sucked him off post pop, marking another decent scene.

Scene Five: Momma's Friend: Amber Ashley, the redhead on the lower right hand corner, was up last as she tried to get rid of her obsession for Steven St. Croix (playing her mother's "friend") by actually having sex with him. She claimed to be inexperienced and proved it well enough as she sucked him off like a practicing newbie. He sucked her feet and went down on her fairly well though, proving that a guy old enough to be her father could provide decent stimulation. She was far too passive though and while some of you may enjoy that and her skinny frame, it simply didn't work for me. The pop was strong for him and went largely to her abdomen, finishing out the movie with a whimper.

Summary: Barely Legal #59 was similar to the kind of show that Clive McLean would have directed in most ways, with the exception of some slightly weaker technical values. I came close to elevating the rating but ended up giving it the Rent It it deserved largely due to the age issues, technical values, and limited extras. Still, if you're a fan of the cast and want to see them act as though they are 18, you could do worse and some of the ladies do appear to possess substantial potential in need of tapping so adjust your rating accordingly. That said, I do appreciate that Hustler has taken to crediting the cast better than they used to, giving fans a better idea of who's who in the process.
