Extras: The best extra was the 36 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Jake Malone and others that showed off a lot of additional sex, nudity, and humor; also providing some interview footage with Jake Malone frequently hanging around (he was the second cameraman for the movie). It was a great extra and added some value for me to enjoy the movie all that much more. There was a short, 3 minute long, set of outtakes with some additional hardcore footage, 12.5 minutes of photoshoot footage, a photogallery, a cast list, a cumshot recap, and some websites in the double disc set as well.

Audio/Video Quality: New Whores on the Block was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot for DVD by director Manuel Ferrara for Evil Angel. This being his second release for the company, I figured it would look similar to the last though in coming months I'm led to believe that there will be some improvements made too. The colors were fairly solid, the fleshtones accurate, and the lighting almost always decent; making the picture look decent as well. Lighting varied by the scenes and was spottier than previous efforts but still seemed to convey the sense of heat fairly well. The amount of grain and video noise were fairly light as a result so while it wasn't the best I've seen from Michael, it was better than many gonzo productions. There were no compression artifacts or video noise noticed during the scenes but the strength of the visuals was how the composition of the shots almost always enhanced the looks or perceived passion of the scenes. The scene shot in Kylie Ireland's downtown dungeon was especially hot in terms of the visuals though the audio suffered as a result of the brick walls reflecting the audio harshly. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo English with minimal separation between the channels and a standard dynamic range, making it nothing special in this sense but not bad either.

Body of Review: Manuel Ferrara and Erik Everhard may be the newest directors at Evil Angel but they are far from the newbies on the block given their proven efforts of recent years. Manuel has the least experience of the crew there but his latest movie, New Whores on the Block, was a decided better DVD than some of their more established directors have been releasing of late, providing a number of heated scenes with a lovely crew. The movie focused primarily on newcomers to porn although some of the women have made more than a few scenes in their burgeoning career. Here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used and that there was no doubt that Manuel was shooting for someone other than his former home at RLD/PXP:

Manuel has shown yet again though that he has the kind of right stuff that fans appreciate, marking the movie as a solid effort, even if not a perfect one.
