Audio/Video Quality: Virtual Sex with Mercedez was presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Joone for Digital Playground. The lighting was stronger this time in an apparent effort to enhance Mercedez's look that the muted lights of some virtual sex releases would not handle as well. Personally, I prefer the harsher lights since they allow for the viewer to see every nook and cranny of the gal with crystal clarity but that's a notion that not everyone agrees with. There were no compression artifacts and the clips were advertised as being shot on HD (high definition) so perhaps future releases will enhance the visual portions of the movie. The audio was presented in the usual 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround stereo in English. I could hear everything she said and the music in the background of a few sections (tease and stories) was generic enough. For the record though, there was little separation between the channels and limited dynamic range but since the vocals all came from a single source (Mercedez), there probably wasn't a lot that could've changed that fact.

Body of Review: One of the most popular sub-genre's in porn these days is the point of view (POV) offering where the illusion of the gal in the sex scene having sex with the home viewer is elevated through the use of the camera work (providing the mind's eye of the action). Most companies have been offering at least a few such titles, even Digital Playground with the recent release of Jack's POV, where director Robby D. shows the world how it's done right. In a variation of the theme, there are two companies that rose to the top of the market in the related virtual sex genre; Digital Playground and Digital Sin (with some others trying to jump in such as Anarchy Films). Each offered up a different way of looking at the subject with the same basic format taking hold and lasting even today, years later, of having a single gal do a variety of acts on camera. This was likened to the popular videogame experience where you were allowed to follow an adventure with some limited choices of action (often called a "rail" game since you were confined to what amounted to a set of tracks with various forks in the road). Today's review is on the latest effort by director Joone (he wasn't credited but it looked like his established works in the field though to be fair, someone told me it could have been Robby D. at the helm given the absolute clarity of the picture this time), with the release of Virtual Sex with Mercedez.

If you've watched these type of DVDs in the past, you'll know that they have ranged from the technically awesome My Plaything Jenna Jameson 2 to the career making Virtual Playground Jesse Jane. I haven't seen all of the titles from the companies but these two serve as excellent examples of the genre and fans of the ladies will appreciate them both. The last volumes of Digital Playground's series I checked out were Virtual Sex with Teagan Presley and Virtual Sex with Sophia Santi, showcasing those attractive ladies like never before. For her part, Mercedez is a busty and curvy brunette that left her former contract just in time to make this title for fans though she was never my favorite gal at Vivid (by a long shot). That said, here's what the back DVD cover said of this volume in the series:

Here's a brief look at the types of action offered up, noting that the loops for each option could've been longer (always the case for me):

1) Strip: Mercedez does a limited hip grinding dance to generic music as she talks dirty and plays with herself in a skimpy outfit consisting of red & black bra and panties. There wasn't an option to make her talk dirtier here or provide another camera angle but she looked better than most of her movies given the clarity of the lighting and camerawork.

2) Stories: Mercedez shakes her curvy body to a more upbeat tempo while a voice over talks about some of her fantasies. I liked the fishnets, the pearls, and the stripper cop outfit (though there were clips of her in a variety of outfits edited in). Claiming to like figures of authority, she told her real life experience of having sex with cops and her bosses.

3) Foreplay: Mercedez offers up her body for four major types of action:
a) Fingering
b) Vibrator
c) Titty Massage
d) Ass Massage
This was accompanied by Mercedez having a spot where she gets oral or has an orgasm. The main weakness of this section is that the attempt to keep the identity of the lady partner a secret led to no actual oral taking place on Mercedez's lovely pussy. As with other volumes in the series, you could change the dynamic of the action by selecting the "naughty" button, causing Mercedez to talk dirtier if you like. There were also the two camera angles that were shot at the same time in order to offer true multi-angle visuals. In all, a nice selection of loops to select from for fans of the gal.

4) Sex: Mercedez gets the good old hot beef injection from Scott Nails. I know some of you are going to complain that you don't want a real life guy boning your fantasy gal but the fans of the series have been very vocal about not wanting an anonymous female using a strap on dildo as in some of the previous releases in the series. Scott did a fine job here and short of using mega-stud Cody Bangs as in My First Porn 6, he was the best man for the job. Okay, the main acts here were:

There was the general option of naughty or nice again and a pop shot button so you could shoot the gal's load at your command. I know that the fake pop shots are the biggest point of contention in the genre. Considering how the sex in this volume takes place with studly Scott Nails, the "real" pop shots seemed better than the lame CGI pop shots used in the past. They still didn't look like Scott was busting a nut but they looked far better than the pop shots of the past; making it clear that the company has been listening to feedback from the fans. In all, this was a nice selection of choices and Scott seemed to get a decent performance out of Mercedez, something of a rarity for her when she was at another company from what I saw (sorry, I call them like I see them).

Fans of foot fetish, anal and titty fucking will probably appreciate those areas getting some decent coverage too (although especially in the footjob material, the pop shot looked like it came from a tube beneath Scott's cock). Was the show "Provocative! First Rate! Unabashed Titillation! An Intense Erotic Experience! Revolutionary!" and "Flawless!" as advertised on the front DVD cover? Not really but it made an excellent example of a virtual sex release surpassing the usual expectations of a contract star and fans of Mercedez are going to love this one a whole lot more than her recent works elsewhere.

Summary: Virtual Sex with Mercedez is a tribute to fans of the busty Latina porn performer who's now out of contract. Having watched her in movies such as Where The Boys Aren't 17, Who Do You Love?, Coming On Set, Diary of an Orgy, Before I Wake, and So I Married A Porn Star; I can safely say that she tended to be a passive partner when it came to screwing on camera but had a look that was undeniably sexy. I haven't seen all of the Virtual Sex volumes in the past but she seemed well suited to the limitations of the genre and Scott Nails was the perfect partner for her to work with. The technical matters were exceptionally well handled and I figure a rating of Recommended was fair for fans of the curvy cutie. In short, Virtual Sex with Mercedez is the best way to play with the Latina porn sensation, proving once again that Digital Playground is the leader in the field of sex simulators.
