Extra's: These days, few companies are offering substantial extras so it was with great surprise that a copy of Britney Rears 1 was included in the DVD package. I applaud this marketing plan since it accommodates the masses who might not have picked up a copy last year of the movie which was well worth checking out, especially for free. This extra was far more than you'd usually get but what about unique content you ask? Okay, this is where the show really shines all that much more with a 50.5 minute long Behind the Scenes featurette by Bill Diehl and Gary Garver. The amount of footage was incredible as the cast and crew set out to make this release even bigger than the admittedly fun Britney Rears 2 that I ranted about earlier this year. There was more sex, more nudity, and more of how the movie was crafted out of the basics than I think I've seen before; making it worthy of wannabe porn directors to learn some of the work behind the show. This was followed by almost ten minutes of footage On the Hustler Jet where Larry Flynt's private jet was a prop for the cast, an 11.5 minute interview with lovely Hillary Scott, a 16 minute short on making the music soundtrack, a 12.5 minute interview with Will Rider and Scott David (the director/producer combo responsible for the successful series), and another 14 minutes of BTS footage but this time in an even rawer form that was completely unedited. Then there were trailers to Britney Rears 1, Britney Rears 2, and Britney Rears 3; a short replay of the main menu (which I had no clue about), a slide show, trailers to Hustler's A List and Beaver Hunt 3, and some spam for Hustler.

Audio/Video Quality: Britney Rears 3: Britney Gets Shafted! was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Will Ryder for release by Hustler Video. Okay, as the series has progressed, the quality of the visuals has also improved and this volume was the best yet. The lighting was very good and that all but eliminated the grain and video noise from the scenes. The 70's theme of the show was as authentic as I can remember it from so long ago with the weird lighting on stage and the psychedelic colors on the clothing. The composition of the shots was better too and the editing showed the most improvement of all the other aspects of the visuals in my opinion (while not as flashy, editing is very important in this type of production). The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo English, with plain vocals and some decent music adding to the parody of the show. The music was all original (though the ending credits played the Britney Rears theme song) and showed a lot more work than any porn title I've seen all year thanks in large part to significant resources being devoted to this aspect of the movie. The 70's themes were once again addressed in an accurate manner, far more so than some of the wannabe rockumentaries and music based shows up for awards. The music was good enough that credit should be given the professional musicians that wrote, developed, and played on the score; Big Richard Black, Freak Juice, Carlos Rojo, Al Salas, Jeff Mullen, Maria Assanova, and Tina Tina (the last two on vocals).

Body of Review: Britney Rears 1 was one of most notable porn movies to combine a pop music parody with some decent sex, a factor carried to even further extremes by Britney Rears 2. Music is so rarely considered a factor in porn that those of us with decent sound set ups shrug when we see the types of movies that win awards in this area; knowing how low the bar is set by trade magazines and fan awards. That said, the marketing gimmick of the original Britney movie was strong enough to open a great many eyes in the business so it was no wonder that the sequel continues to sell like crazy but in an effort to push the concept even further, Britney Rears 3: Britney Gets Shafted! was made with a different dynamic in mind. Rather than rely solely on a gimmick to sell the movie, director Will Rider ramped up the movie in a couple of ways; providing better, more original music than you'll find in porn while getting better sexual performances by selecting an all new, improved cast. One of the best choices in this regard was replacing the former "Britney" with hotty Hillary Scott, giving up the slight resemblance to the pop star Britney Spears in favor of much improved sexual skills (always a great choice). The movie was a light feature with Britney playing with a time machine bought off of Ebay that propels her and the lovely Jasmine Byrne back to 1974 where they promptly land roles on a Soul Train styled disco show. The parody aspects were weaker and as a feature, I'd have to say it suffered but the quality of the sexual scenes was ramped up more than a little bit and that should be the number one consideration of any porno, yes? That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Naomi, looking lean except for her wondrously round rump, and lean Kat; both wearing wigs and dressed in a manner that would have had them fit in at any disco in the late 1960's to early 1970's, were up first with studly Tommy Gunn. My biggest complaint was that the vocals were pushed into secondary status as the music took charge but given the thematic nature of the show, this wasn't as bad an idea as usual (especially thanks to the original score). Kat was the better cocksucker of the two ladies but Naomi impaled herself when it came time to ride and Kat helped her out as both actively played with Tommy's cock. The PTOGM that Kat continually did added to the fun and I was surprised the little Asian didn't partake in the vaginal romp. Still, both gals added to the energy levels and shared the wad he let loose, showing that no formula was applied to the scene. It was a good way to start the movie behind the scenes of the show where the gals landed.

Scene Two: Alana Evans, Melissa Martinez, and Victoria Sweet, were up next as the trio orally assaulted the cock of Johnny Castle after the filming of the TV episode they were recording. Scene Five: Jenna Presley, a very attractive brunette with a lean body and pretty eyes, was up next on a bunch of pillows outside by a pool overlooking some mountains with James Deen. Summary: Britney Rears 3: Britney Gets Shafted! had better quality sex than Britney Rears 1 or Britney Rears 2; both movies that a lot of fans appreciated. The technical values, extras, and amount of fuck for the buck were superior and the inclusion of the first movie as an extra was a great idea; earning the rating of Highly Recommended with ease. I'd like to see Hillary given more to do in the next volume of the series since she's a very talented lady proving that in the fine tradition of the Batman and James Bond movies, a better performer can come in and make the role her own. In short, Britney Rears 3: Britney Gets Shafted! works because of the fusion of music and sex that smoked the previous volumes as much as Jasmine and Hillary sexually leading the pack. I'd have preferred it if another spoof song sung by someone (Hillary or the two talented gals in the band) were used since that had been the primary selling point of the previous efforts but this was a winner all the way around. If this isn't on your short list for purchasing, you're going to miss out. Look for the extensive marketing to make the movie AND Hillary Scott household names in no time.
