Audio/Video Quality: Sorority Sex Kittens 1 was presented in the originally filmed 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by directors Jim Holliday & Michael Craig for VCA Pictures (shot concurrently with Part 2 of the series). The picture was blurry more than a few times, relied on a sense of raw energy rather than technical expertise, and had a wonderfully diverse cast as seen on the back of the DVD cover. The fleshtones were a bit washed out and occasionally out of focus but fans of classic porn understand the limitations of the genre at least as well as I do so take the rating with a grain or ten of salt. The audio was presented in the usual Dolby Digital stereo English but the vocals appeared to be looped in a few cases, the dialogue slightly out of synch at times, and it sounded hollow more often than not. The music was trademark Jim Holliday style as provided by Double Vision, perhaps an early iteration of Reno & the Rum Runners, with intermittent music punctuating the scenes from time to time.

Body of Review: Jim Holliday was known for providing "fluffy bunny" porn that concentrated more on lesbian action, scores of hotties having fun, and straightforward sex than the current circus act sex craze. His untimely passing a few years back was at a time when VCA Pictures was undergoing extensive changes and no one has even attempted to provide movies like he made in the interim (some of the recent VCA tribute titles have paid homage to the man but haven't achieved the right mix yet). Looking back to earlier Holliday flicks recently, I decided to revisit as many of his movies as possible so look for a series of reviews on these classics, starting with Sorority Sex Kittens 1. The movie had all the elements of a Jim Holliday flick, from the scores of insider jokes and weird plot devices to hordes of hunnies having fun. The back cover said it like this: "Eighteen years have passed and the Upsilon Sigma Sorority is still around making sexual waves at Lost River college. This time around, it's a case of disappearing dudes as the hottest studs on campus turn up missing, one by one. Are our oversexed sorority sisters behind it? Will their enemies discover their secret? Does a 13 girl orgy tickle your fancy? Have you ever seen a cast this big? Does a bear poop in the woods?" That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that most of the cast wasn't clearly identified so some reasonable guesses were made with who was who and that one condom was used:

Scene One: Madison, a brunette in the Tina Tyler mode, was up first as she blew Mike Horner in the cluttered bedroom. It wasn't overly explicit but he seemed to be having fun and after she nearly kicked his ass over a misstatement, it was his turn to go down on her hairy little box on the bed. She wasn't the most attractive gal of the cast (boy, is that an understatement) but she was wet and willing so he didn't care. This led to her continuing the dirty talk as he banged away at her pussy from behind as she demanded to know when he was going to come. She jumped back and he sprayed his seed all over the bed, leading him to be blindfolded and led away.

Scene Two: Victoria Paris and Melanie Moore a couple of ladies well past sorority age, were up next as they teased one another on a bed. This led to them pawing one another and eating each other out, seemingly getting into the moment more than a little bit though the action didn't last long before the camera cut away. I liked the tease of various women walking around campus more than this one but it highlighted the lesbian style of the day in terms of hair, short scenes, and a lack of formulaic positions that have become standard nowadays.

Scene Three: Lacy Rose, a brunette with a tiny set of titties, was up next as she demanded Peter North and Tony Martino play with themselves (using various common phrases like "beat your meat", "flog your log" and others) as she teased them in the dorm room. This led to her slowly blowing them before they orally attacked her in return. They then took turns screwing her; getting some pussy and ass from the little vixen with a condom used for the anal adventuring by Matt Ramsey (sorry, I mean "straight porn actor Peter North"). Both men popped on her stomach with Peter going last, with the short scene kind of cute but indicative of the times.

Scene Four: Selena Steele, one of the classic porn stars from her time, was up next as she came over to the frat to delivery something special to TT Boy, Peter North, and Tony Martino. She blew all of them with an unmatched intensity; using her hands and mouth as she sang for her supper. Her perfect ass went to waste except as eye candy but the men each got a few moments to ride her tight pussy before dropping loads (apparently, she was so tight that none of them could hold off). It was interesting to see the guys take turns rather than work her over all at once as happens today and the scene was fun to watch as Matt (Peter) had the longest bout with her before popping the largest load.

Scene Five: Bionca, a gorgeous brunette that ruled in porn years ago, was up next as she took care of geeky Tim Lake in the academic setting as part of a tutorial about life. She was in charge and instructed him through the oral and penetrative sex, with the kind of MILF fantasy that is more common these days. The slow, taunting nature of the sex was hotter than I remembered and she truly engaged the rod at all times; even if he couldn't hold off any longer than most of the men of the show.

Scene Six: Tiffany Mynx, Shayla LaVeaux, Melanie Moore, Stacy Nichols, Angela Summers, Ashlyn Gere, Alexis DeVell, Shawnee Cates, Teri Diver, Madison, Summer Knight, Selena Steele, and Kelly O'Dell, were up last in the infamous lesbian orgy scene. I could be mistaken about a couple of the gals but considering there were fifteen women in sexual roles and thirteen of them were in the living room orgy, I'm pretty confident on most of the names listed. In any case, the cameras did not try to catch everything going on. That's a mistake of rookie directors that Jim was always seemed to roll his eyes about. No, the goal was to convey so much going on at any given time that the scene had replay value with sex hot enough to provide repeated strokability and fun. Yeah, fun was clearly what the ladies had here with none of them phoning in their performance as modern porn is too frequently known for. The emphasis was on hands and tongues licking and stroking each other, making it an outrageous treat to watch although describing it is tough (it was like several mounds of flesh all doing whatever they felt like without any structure or rules). Whew!

Summary: Sorority Sex Kittens 1 can be found today for greatly discounted costs compared to when DVDs first came out and that makes it easier for fans of the master to pick up since the lack of extras, the technical qualities, and the length of the movie were all a big leap from what Jim provided towards the end of his illustrious career. I'm going to rate this one as a Rent It nonetheless though since it provided less of what worked in a Holliday flick but it still showed that he had a clear vision of what he wanted to showcase so don't listen to the haters that dismiss it as anything less than a nice early step by a talented director. In short, Sorority Sex Kittens 1 was light, breezy, and had plenty of raw energy to appreciate if you enjoy older style porn with a cast of ladies that were retired before most of the current crop of starlets were in elementary school.
