Audio/Video Quality: Insexts was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Philip Mond (director of Zazel) for distribution by Club Jenna. Those who've seen Philips limited smattering of titles made in years gone by know that he isn't prolific and he seeks to make porn something of a psychedelic experience with limitless boundaries that push our imaginations. He again succeeded in large part with this one although the solid lighting, interesting composition, and rapid style editing might have been slowed down a touch for better effect. It was what I'd call pretty porn, relying largely on style instead of substance but if you can get past the discothèque music, you might enjoy it. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English but the vocals were all dubbed (when I first heard Nick speak with someone else's voice, I knew for sure) and the vast majority of the movie relied on visuals supported by the score rather than vocals. There was no discernable separation between the tracks and I would have preferred a better audio track but it was an experience to listen to.

Body of Review: Club Jenna has been seeking to find a marketing niche to call it's own outside of the name recognition of their leading lady for some time now. Their main focus in this quest has been on stylish looking movies with blaring soundtracks but they surprise me from time to time and I consider their releases to be like grab bags of sorts. Their latest release is Insexts by director Philip Mond; best known for his stewardship on a movie called Zazel years ago. The back cover explained the movie like this: "Gina, an extremely attractive film producer, tries to persuade the world famous artist Vinny to create a movie for her. She sends her assistant Amber to convince him. She sneaks into his studio dressed as one of his fashion models. She disturbs the shoot and proposes that he work for her boss Gina. She throws herself and a lot of cash into the deal. The artist barely resists her and throws her out of the studio and tries to continue his work. He starts to hallucinate, what he sees though the lens frightens and arouses him. Beautiful images appear into his fantasy, mesmerizing creatures molded into tiny corsets, wearing glimmering wings, with intoxicating colors filling the screen. These seductive insects have an orgy that on one has seen before and that no one will forget." To me though, the plot and limited dialogue were far less important than the description made it appear to be so I wrote the following review in a slightly different style, noting that no condoms were employed here:

The movie started off with some watery footage of hotty Gina Mond swimming in her pool with little on her body but some plastic beads loosely knit together. Exactly why she was wearing such an impractical outfit is beyond me but it did leave little to the imagination and after telling her assistant to take care of hiring a specific fashion photographer for her movie (played by sweetheart Nick Manning); she started masturbating in and around her pool outside. The editing was MTV style but the underwater footage was a cut above what I've seen from Seymore Butts in terms of appeal so even the poorly dubbed audio track didn't get in the way of me liking it a little. The clear plastic dildo fit right inside her ass and she tasted it from time to time, though it looked like some of the footage was shot at different times (perhaps three sessions; maybe five).

The rest of the movie was full of a series of unconventionally weird vignettes that all blended together with the following people wearing a number of outfits, typically patterned after insects with large cellophane wings and plastic antennas, headpieces and corset styled breastplates; Gina Mond, Jenaveve Jolie, Jean Val Jean, Tory Lane, Grant Michaels, Alexis Amore, McKenzie Rose, and Nick Manning. The catch to the relatively short sequences was that the audio track was almost exclusively a thumping techno-styled piece that repeated itself or offered little in the way of variations. There were the standard oral and vaginal positions used but there was no distinctive formula and no set delineation between the scenes as the cast were all on a large set that provided no contrast (the green walls and props were garden-esque perhaps).

The gals kissed a lot, felt each other up repeatedly, and then played with breasts, pussies, and asses; also adding in some of the traditional cocksucking and fucking you'd expect of a modern porno. Tory and Jenaveve were my two favorites in the movie as they continued to treat the action as though an extension of their usual antics with a decided emphasis on oral action. The gals did use some toys and one of the scenes revolved around a bicyclist theme (with modified bikes that included dildos for seats) but except for the graphic nature of the scenes (you could see everything), the outfits could have come from a Las Vegas floor show in terms of their sensuality. You won't find a lot of anal, DP, and other circus act sex but if you're looking for what I call "pretty porn" this is definitely from the mind that director Philip Mond used to create Zazel from. Heck, there was even a short oral and vaginal scene between Nick and Gina (playing her own assistant Amber) in a car in an open lot. She actively rode him but it still seemed to be in the slow motion the artistic scenes were shot in if that matters to you. The movie ended with Gina and husband Philip (yeah, the old director of the film) screwing in a montage scene on the couch that included anal sex in a more traditional porn scene.

The dubbing gave me a headache although I mused that Nick's over the top abuse talk needed to be edited out as a personal joke. In terms of the vocals being excised from the majority of the sex footage, I wasn't too keen on that idea. Still, it was a change of pace from the typical gonzo or lamely acted features so I can't say that I wasn't up to watch something completely different. The lack of extras was balanced by the length of the movie and visuals were fetching in most circumstances with a less graphic approach taken than 99% of the directors in the field use so it may appeal to those wanting something different or new to porn. The chemistry between the cast members was a mixed bag of course and the gimmick of the pretty outlandish outfits may strike some as being pretentious but no more so than far too many others in the field that always seem to think their stuff is so much better than the rest of the market. If you're in the market for something like what I've described, consider this a Recommended though it won't be for everyone by a longshot.

Summary: Insexts was the most interesting release by Club Jenna since they opened up shop. That doesn't mean it's the best or most strokable flick to date but the movie was certainly something different for those who claim that all porn is alike. I rated the flick on the high side but if you're truly in the market for a generic gonzo release or want the latest feature, by all means look elsewhere while those wanting to explore the senses will check out Insexts instead. I'd be curious to know who commissioned this one given the type of flick the company has put out to date but at a running time of over a hundred and sixty minutes (much of it tease footage too), I'm not going to complain, even if it was a little on the light side of erotic.
