Audio/Video Quality: Nightshift Nurses 2 was presented in the originally filmed 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jim Holliday for VCA Pictures back in 1996. The picture was never blurry, but still relied on a sense of raw energy rather than technical expertise, and had a wonderfully diverse cast as seen on the DVD cover. The fleshtones were accurate and never out of focus but fans of classic porn understand the limitations of the genre at least as well as I do so take the rating with a grain or two of salt. The audio was presented in the usual Dolby Digital stereo English but the vocals appeared to be looped in a few cases, the dialogue slightly out of synch at times, and it sounded hollow more often than not. The music was trademark Jim Holliday style as provided by Dino Ninn, Earl Ninn, and Scott Reno & the Vancouvers, an early iteration of Reno & the Rum Runners, with intermittent music punctuating the scenes from time to time.

Body of Review: Cheerleader Nurses and Return of the Cheerleader Nurses were two of the early titles director Jim Holliday that showed he, like a great many other men, appreciated the medical ladies that wipe up, treat us, and otherwise care for us when we're sick. About ten years ago, he made a movie he long claimed "almost killed him" called Nightshift Nurses 2: The New Decade where he picked up the franchise from director John Leslie with the help of a guy named Justin Sterling (you might have heard of his wife) that showed the sexual misconduct taking place at a wacky hospital that I'd like to sign in for some day. The box cover said it like this: "Jim Holliday, that auteur of the erotic and the obscure, has finally got around to creating a sequel to one of his most popular hits, Nightshift Nurses... And fortunately it's been worth the wait, packed with an all-star cast. This offbeat comedy centers around a hospital with such a reputation for caring that perfectly healthy people will fake illness just to get some of that special treatment for which it is famous. And once you get a glimpse of how the nurses attend to their patients' needs, you'll want to check in, too. Utilizing a radical new therapy called repeated libido deployment. The staff is pushing the barriers of the sexual frontier to heretofore unprecedented heights – and creating yet another classic adult feature in the grand tradition of Jim Holliday. Best of all you don't need insurance or Medicare to check in. And once you do, you may never check out." Here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used back then:

Scene One: Shayla LaVeaux, looking even better than I remember her in her prime, and Anthony, playing a doctor, were up first as he took her temperature and checked her symptoms the old fashioned way; feeling her up and having sex with her. He rimmed her and she tossed his salad far longer (spanking him and rubbing his asshole as if his name were Kurt) before he fingered her ass and followed through with his cock. Scene Two: Sindee Coxx, Kim Kitaine, and Nick East, were up next as the ladies fussed at him for being ill. This didn't mean that they neglected one another; there was plenty of lesbian action too, but the emphasis was on a short oral scene for all of them to enjoy.

Summary: Nightshift Nurses 2 was better than the John Leslie original by far from what I remember of the flick but you have to remember that Jim Holliday had a certain style that typically either appealed to your sense of the absurd or it didn't with little middle ground to speak of. If you like retro-porn that was considered the "Alt-Porn" of its day, Nightshift Nurses 2 will have the requisite fuck for the buck, replay and stroke value, and wonderful cast like we rarely see put in a single title these days due to budget concerns. While his later movies were longer and more jam packed with extras, this one was definitely worth a rating of Recommended for all it had to offer fans.
