The Movie:

Joanna Angel's latest directorial effort if Joanna Angel's Guide 2 Humping (or as it's referred to in the film a few times, Joanna Angel's Fucking Guide To Fucking which was the original title for the film). The premise behind this one is that Joanna Angel is hosting a few seminars where she'll teach her students the ins and outs of sex. Whoever gets the best mark at the end of the class gets the chance to try out their technique on her.

Most of the Burning Angel regulars are here like Kylee Kross, James Deen and the always funny Tommy Pistol and there are a few lesser seen performers here as well like Hayley Paige (who we should see more of) and Chapel Waste (again, more please!). In between sex scenes we see the students and their teacher in the classroom and we get to sit in on Joanna's lessons, all of which prove to be pretty funny. This is one of those rare porno movies that really does do a great job of mixing up the sex scenes with the non-sex scenes, which just adds a lot more to the entire production. In short, it's really hot, and it's a whole lot of fun.

The DVD

Video:

For the most part we have a nice, stable picture on a well-authored DVD. There aren't any compression issues or edge enhancement problems and the picture is clean, clear and quite detailed with nice color reproduction and decent flesh tones. Unfortunately the video quality for a couple of the scenes uses the 'hidden camera' angle that gives us a voyeuristic look at the action. Also as a result of this truly bizarre technique is the fact that the whole frame isn't used, instead, we see some sort of self applied round matte in the corners of the picture. We saw this used for Cum On My Tattoo - it didn't work there and it doesn't work here either. Thankfully only one or two scenes are shot this way, everything else looks good.

Sound:

Thankfully the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans and yelps and yells. There is no background music used anywhere during the feature aside from the opening credits and the levels do tend to fluctuate quite a bit from scene to shining scene but aside from that there isn't much to whine about here. The audio is fine and the soundtrack, courtesy of Buckcherry in a few spots, sounds quite nice.

Extras:

The first disc contains chapter selection, a star index, and an audio commentary track with Joanna Angel, and the rest of the cast. Most of this track is just the performers laughing at the movie and talking about how funny it is. They all seem to find Pistol really funny (and he is) but they don't give us a whole lot of information about the movie itself. It's all in good humor and there's a lot of joking around on the track which makes it a fun listen, but don't expect to learn anything. So while there isn't a lot of movie specific info in here they do cover Jewish funerals, strap-on sex, Trent Reznor, the pros and cons of deep throat blowjobs, Mexican food, and the pros and cons of anal sex.

The second disc starts off with a Behind The Scenes documentary which gives us a look at both the sex scenes and the non-sex scenes that make up the movie. There are interviews in here with the male and female performers as well as some of the crew who worked on the project. We see them getting ready for their scenes and getting the classroom and the other locations set for the production. We Tommy Pistol complain about the mirror he's looking into and doing his hair, we see some of the outdoor footage used in the into being shot. The first day of the shoot is primarily people getting ready and a lot of goofing off. The second day we see some of the actual sex scenes being blocked and shot, which continues to the third day. We see one of the girls, Kylee, cleaning her pussy out and getting ready for her strap on scene and we even see Joanna take a piss. It's all amusing and goofy if a little long winded at over and hour and ten minutes in length.

From there we're treated to an amusing blooper reel which runs for five and a half minutes and which consists primarily of the performers flubbing their lines in the non-sex scenes. These are pretty funny and worth checking out if you find bloopers funny. Up next is a selection of interviews starting out with Joanna herself who talks about directing and starring in the movie and how she changed the title on the feature around a bit and played with various ideas before settling on the version of the movie we have on this DVD. Pat Homily, the cinematographer for the film, is also interviewed and he talks about working with Burning Angel and how it's more fun to work with the company than a lot of the other porno moviemakers and he discusses his career behind the camera. Assistant Director Doug Sakkman is up next, sitting beside a mock up of Joanna who is there in full on XXXorcist make up, and he too talks about how he got his start with Burning Angel and how he loves his work (and why). Mike Pullen, who played Brad (the gay football player) in the film, talks about his work on the feature and how he worked as a production assistant on the movie. Nick Danger also appears here and he talks about how he had nothing to do with the movie at all. This material runs just under thirty-two minutes.

Rounding out the second disc are trailers for the feature, Bang My Juice Boxxx, Parkin' Lot Pimpin' 2, Sorority Sex Kittens – Kappa Kappa Sex, Interactive, Aphrodisiac, Backwoods Of Memphis, Taboo 8 and Liquid City 3 as well as a nice slide show of fifty eight hardcore photos set to music, an internet link and a phone sex advertisement.

Final Thoughts:

Five hot scenes featuring some of the cutest girls working in front of the camera today combined with some truly fun humor and a clever, playful concept earn Joanna Angel's Guide 2 Humping the ol' highly recommended stamp. It's a shame that they continue to use that odd camera technique but other than that this is an excellent release with some nice extra features as the icing on the cake.
