Extra's: The Behind the Scenes feature lasted almost 6 minutes long (looking like it was shot during a dual filming of this one and Car Wash Angels 2) was great as it showed some action and fun with the time flying by far too quickly. There were also three lengthy DVD scene introductory segments called the Jim & Jill Show that was funny (the segments being Love Doll, In 'n' Output, and Shine My Shoes). The basic idea was the pair sat down and verbally sparred with one another, offering words of wisdom with one another in support with the segments lasting a total of about 10 minutes. There was a four minute long interview with Jill Kelly that proved to be prophetic in some ways (though her admission that it was the "Jim & Jill" show rather than the other way around as she claimed later). There were some minimal Star Bios, a trailer for Eye Candy Refocused, a photogallery, a bit on the multiple angles used, and a jump to the scene bit too. For when this came out, those were awesome extras folks and still hold up to this day.
Note: There is reportedly an Easter Egg that leads to a bonus scene but I couldn't find it.

Audio/Video Quality: Sweet Summer Sex Kittens was presented in the originally filmed 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jim Holliday for VCA Pictures back in August of 1999 (filmed at the same time as Car Wash Angels 2). The picture was crystal clear and had a wonderfully diverse cast as seen on the front DVD cover. The fleshtones were accurate thanks in large part to the flat and plentiful lighting, eliminating grain and other visual defects in a manner I wish contemporary companies would at least consider. This was another one of the early Holliday flicks that made great strides to cleaning up the picture and camerawork substantially and should be recognized as such. The audio was presented in the usual Dolby Digital stereo English but the vocals appeared to be looped in a few cases, the dialogue slightly wooden at times, and it sounded hollow less frequently than previous volumes in the series. The music was trademark Jim Holliday style as provided by Scott Reno & the Vancouver/Reno & the Rumrunners (featuring Scott Reno, Reno Scott, Ed Monton, and Cal Gary). The music was all original and actually fit in the action, with the lyrics working better than average for the action; the kind of breezy and fun stuff I always liked about Jim's later efforts.
Note: The first two scenes were unplayable due to some defect that wouldn't go beyond Tabitha's first hummer, allowing me to skip to the third scene and backtrack a bit to see part of scene 2 (about 25 minutes in). Nothing I did let me fix the problem, a reported mastering problem from years ago. The DVD mastering must've been off in other ways too since the disc wouldn't allow the scenes to be accessed directly and then skipped, returning to the main menu as a result (it was definitely a quirky disc) and was also well under the advertised 3 hours on the back cover.

Body of Review: Jim Holliday was notable for a great many quirks but his desire to put his vision on the small screen superseded just about everything else. He liked very specific ladies, specific sex acts, and specific ways of presenting them; only deviating from his set path when pushed by someone like Jill Kelly, whom he held in high regards. The next title in my marathon of Holliday reviews is the DVD mastering fiasco known as Sweet Summer Sex Kittens; the title being the fourth in the series of the Jim and Jill Show but known for having troubles playing on many players (mine included). The cover put it like this: "SWEET SUMMER SEX KITTENS picks up where Trash Talkin' Coeds leaves off...or does it? At the end of COEDS, Jim Holliday said goodbye to Jill Kelly, turned his back and slowly walked away. As #4 in the Jim and Jill Show (or is it Jill and Jim show?) begins, Holliday is by himself on Zuma Beach. This on-the-road show features 8 kick ass sex scenes with introductions ranging from Zuma to the ultra mysterious Zzyzx, from Calico Ghost town to Las Vegas...12 girls...7 blondes...5 brunettes...The series definitely gets hotter and more interesting with each new outing." If you buy it, make sure there's a liberal return policy since I recall this having issues even back when it first came out but here's a quick look at the parts I could see:

Scene One: Tabitha Stevens, the blonde on the far upper left hand corner, was up first as she slobbed the knob of manly Julian after his cross over to straight porn. Sadly, the DVD cut away to the opening menu shortly after this scene started (about 4.5 minutes into the movie) and nothing I did could get it to play.

Scene Two: Chloe and Felecia had an unwatchable scene on the lawn that included lots of licking and toys but it was not watchable due to the DVD problems (these two could light up a screen if given the chance).

Scene Three: Tabitha Stevens, the blonde mentioned above, gave the mighty Evan Stone a hummer before actively riding his rod in bed. She was talkative and fit, also doing anal better than many ladies do even today. The short scene ended when he rubbed out a load onto her foot.

Scene Four: Jill Kelly, having broken into the movie as a surprise to Jim in the opener, was up next in a scene with her boyfriend of the time Julian (he has since married Lanny Barby if I recall correctly) in bed. He went down on her, spending ample time on her pucker, before she blew him and took all he had to offer in her pussy. She was an active ride and the two shared some serious chemistry together as her fit, lean body bounced up and down on his meat pipe. He ended it by rubbing out a load to her chest and it was a lot of fun.

Scene Five: Gina Ryder (immediately above Jill on the front cover with three feathers covering her head), Violet Love (the redhead on the upper right hand corner), and Charmane Star (the Asian cutie on the middle of the right hand side of the cover), were up next in a lesbian ménage a trios on the lawn as they licked and sucked one another. There was a lot of foot fetish material here but it was otherwise a nice scene with some heat and chemistry shared as they did each other with tongue and fingers, skipping toys altogether.

Scene Six: Inari Vachs (upper left hand corner beside Tabitha), Violet Love (the redhead on the upper right hand corner), and Kieffer Sutherland look alike Devin Wolf, were up next in a mansion that had what appeared to be portholes to a large pond (I've seen it used before, mainly by JKP) which Jim said was worth about $5 million. There was a lot of oral by all three and Violet took the initial meat stick in her pussy, Inari saving herself for some powerful anal after masturbating while she watched them. It was a change of pace for Jim in terms of how it was shot but it provided some nice contrast. It ended with a titty pop shot to Violet with both gals giving active rides.

Scene Seven: Tracy Love, Victoria Evans, Jill Kelly, and Tabitha Stevens, were up next in a lesbian orgy on the lawn near a very small pond of sorts. The gals were wearing skimpy tops and blue jean shorts to enhance their looks, pairing off but eventually getting into a big heap of flesh with some foot fetish material, lots of toys, and great playfulness. There was a technical DP (toys only of course) and the sun was setting so they seemed to be trying to rush a bit too much but it was fun to enjoy more than a few times.

Scene Eight: Shayla LaVeaux, Allysin Chaynes, and Gina Ryder, were up last in a lesbian bedroom scene. Gina was especially hot and the action was pretty solid with a lot of licking, rubbing, fingering, and toys before the scene eventually closed out.

Summary: Sweet Summer Sex Kittens showed the return of Jill Kelly before she went on to form her own company not too long afterwards. Due to the technical issues and limitations, I felt obligated to rate it as a Skip It but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't strokable. Sweet Summer Sex Kittens wasn't one of the better Holliday flicks for reasons other than the technical matters though, even if some of the scenes were very fetching and replayable. Look for it at a location you can return it if your DVD player has issues with it or get it cheap and accept that you may have to forget about some scenes but it still had a lot for fans of the Master to enjoy.
