Extra's: The best extra was the 16.5 minute long photoshoot of the Stevens sisters billed as a Behind the Scenes feature. There was no interview material, no sex, and nothing but some comments by Tina and still photographer Laurent Sky (I believe it was him by his voice) praising the two and guiding them through the shoot). There was a photogallery, a fetish menu, a couple of trailers, and a double sided DVD cover (just covers on the second side though) as well but that was it.

Audio/Video Quality: Fresh Out The Box 5 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as (mostly) shot by director Tina Tyler for release by Mercenary Pictures. The lighting was flat and plentiful so the grain and video noise weren't issues here. Some of the compositional matters were only fair but in most of the scenes, she did just fine as she tried to balance the close ups against the medium shots that look better on this type of show, showing a bit of rough camera work in need of editing but otherwise a decent job by the talented lady. There weren't any compression artifacts and I thought the visual appeal was among the best of the series to date (I haven't seen all of them but that's my belief based on what I've watched). There were times when I got the impression that Tina was getting off to the action and forgetting her role as director but this actually added something to the fun of the scene. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English. There was a fair amount of generic music in the background but it never dominated the vocals and sounds of sex so it worked out fairly well, even without any separation and a very limited dynamic range.

Body of Review: Tina Tyler has long been a staple in porn, largely as a fetish gal though also showing skill on both sides of the camera in a wealth of genres. Her most recent work at Mercenary Pictures has shown her evolution to a solid, by the numbers approach that allows the performers the opportunity to show their stuff, unencumbered by artistic license as some directors feel compelled to provide. Her latest release in my hands is Fresh Out The Box 5; a series devoted to newcomers in porn that lack the polish and experience in the industry, hopefully providing a dynamic that shows raw talent rather then the same old screams, moans and generic porn moves most fans are familiar with. If we all wanted to watch the same old people boning, we'd let the producers know so this type of series is appreciated as bringing in new people, albeit with the limitations involved. If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Jade Russell, a busty 24 year old exhibitionist from Arizona, was up first with Marco Banderas/Duato, after giving Tina a short interview. Her look wasn't really appealing to me (the hair looked like she just rolled out of bed, begrudgingly) but I'd be lying if I said I would skip hitting it if given the chance. Her oral skills seemed much like Odessa's in that she relied more on her hand then her mouth to stimulate him. I liked the neon blue corset and black thong on her but he was clearly more talented than she was orally, leading to him doing most of the work in the vaginal penetration acts. She was okay once on top of him but most of the scene she was barely moving; providing the kind of sex I can get at home. It ended with a large load (Mario must not be working much) on her chest but was a filler scene for me.

Scene Four: Aqua Hazel, a 21 year old brunette in her second released scene, looked the part of a newbie as Brian Pumper came up to her on the office couch. That's a pretty advanced move for the gals though I admit I was appreciative for it as the curvy duo sought to compete with one another with Lex in a bed. Summary: Fresh Out The Box 5 was not the strongest release by director Tina Tyler and Mercenary Pictures that I've watched lately but fans of newcomers will find a couple of scenes well worth their time and a showcase for new performers far better than that offered up by Ed Powers and other industry veterans is always desirable. It might have only warranted a rating of Rent It from me but the Stevens sisters and Aqua Hazel made it worth checking out a time or two (perhaps more) so consider Fresh Out The Box 5 to be worth looking into if you like newcomers in porn.
