Extra's: The best extra was easily the 30 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showed some of the cast having extra fun before, during, and after their scenes (Jules' BTS footage is always heavy on additional sex though so don't expect a lot of watching the ladies put on make up and stuff). Fans will enjoy seeing the ladies when they weren't acting so much (they were more natural when they felt the main feature wasn't shooting) and it started with Teagan, ended with Amy, and had the rest of the ladies in between (mostly). The cool thing about it was how the aspect ratio was matched to the movie (it was clear that the first disc's scenes were shot in widescreen with the BTS showing those scenes caught as such, with the second disc's full frame nature shown too-it wasn't a mastering problem). Audio/Video Quality: Slut Puppies 2: 2 Disc Special Edition was presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen (yay!) AND 1.33:1 ratio full frame as originally shot by director Jules Jordan for distribution by his own company, Jules Jordan Video. The older scene starring Teagan Presley was obviously (and understandably) shot in full frame so I can't fuss too loudly at Jules for keeping the original aspect ratio but it's still a jarring change once the first few hours are handled so much nicer. The lighting was presented in a very pleasing manner that lit up the action in the scenes very well, limiting the grain and video noise a lot, and I appreciate that the anamorphic processing was employed on the widescreen scenes for those of us in the growing legion of HD and widescreen TV's to appreciate. There were a few scenes where things weren't quite as good but that was almost certainly due to the skill level of the talent given Jules' manner of coaxing out fine performances from almost everyone. So, in the scenes where the lighting was flat and stronger; the picture was as good as anything from Jules that I've watched to date and the minor tint or other issues were decidedly not worth worrying about. The grain and video noise were both lots better than usual; marking another positive visual improvement by Jules that was complimented by the compositional work Jules offered up that repeatedly enhanced the look of the cast. There were no noticed compression artifacts and while the picture wasn't the best gonzo I've seen; it was better than I expected, especially Teagan's scene. I still wonder what future releases using one of the true high definition formats (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) will do for the quality of the picture given his recent improvements over past works though. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English offering that really didn't use any separation in terms of the vocals (there was some potential to do so here too). The dynamic range was also kind of generic, an area that seemed slightly better than previous efforts and an area that Jules could easily improve to make best use of the great many home theatres in the hands of porn fans everywhere.

Body of Review: Jules Jordan is considered a leading force in gonzo porn these day, now distributing the works of others at Jules Jordan Video. He had humble beginnings and rose through the ranks by listening to the fans, proving that a responsive company will make money in even the harshest of economic times (the reported porn slump of 2006 was as much due to the product dumping on the market as bootlegs and down loaders, no matter what you hear). I haven't seen many of his older works but what I have seen leads me to believe that Jules has grown by leaps and bounds in his work, never more clearly in evidence then in his recent release of Slut Puppies 2: 2 Disc Special Edition, the sequel to the well received Slut Puppies 1. I say this because the movie contained a scene with uber hotty Teagan Presley taken from a few years back; perhaps her last before going under contract to Digital Playground. This provided the means to compare the older work and newer work without the digital manipulations of the material as done in many recent compilations to smooth over differences. In short, his anamorphically enhanced new scenes are so much better in terms of lighting, composition, and even his ability to get the best performances out of the ladies that I'm less willing to shell out the money to go back to his roots and see what the fuss was all about (maybe if he reduces the price a bunch like the mainstream world does, I'll consider it). In this case, every scene was good or better, some reaching outstanding status, though the puppy theme was only truly employed once. Here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used, not even with Teagan:

Scene One: Amy Ried, the hotty featured on the lower middle of the front DVD cover, was up first in her white fishnet top and tiny thong that left nothing to the imagination. The lighting was slightly lower then normal, giving her a slightly red haze about her but she knew how to masturbate and tease well enough that I hope she returns to porn some day soon. In all then, this DVD set was worth a rating of Highly Recommended or better for raincoaters and fans of gonzo that subscribe to the notion that more is better as well as better is better in what is sure to be a top seller.
