Extra's: My favorite extra was the full length audio commentary by Jim Holliday, Monica Mayhem, and Katie Morgan. Jim led the trio in comments but "helium voice" Katie was so cute and Monica added in a few pointed comments from time to time. I also really liked the extended phat cuts for Violet Blue's opening scene and Ryan Conner's highlight scene as they added some decent footage to the mix and you could watch it incorporated into the movie or simply as bonus, extended scenes. More sex is always a good thing, especially in one of Jim's flicks. The 13.5 minute Behind the Scenes feature by Wit Maverick (shot for this one Melted Pink, and Sorority Sex Kittens 6 at the same time with footage from each) was hilarious thanks in large part to the editing and the antics of Rob Spallone. The cast and crew had a lot of fun and it was evident from looking at Jim that his medical problems were catching up with him but I have to hand it to Wit and the folks at VCA for allowing some of the comments to make it into the feature. There were also some minimal Star Bios, trailers for movies like Floss, Sorority Sex Kittens 3, Little Town Flirts, Eye Candy Refocused, Perfect Smiles, LA Fashion Girls, a photogallery, a bit on the multiple angles used, and a jump to the scene bit too.

Audio/Video Quality: Summer Camp Sun Bunnies was presented in the originally filmed 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jim Holliday for VCA Pictures back in June 2002 (filmed at the same time as Melted Pink and Sorority Sex Kittens 6 with the assistance of "ramrod" Rob Spallone taking over from Evan Stone). The picture was crystal clear and had a wonderfully diverse cast as seen on the front DVD cover. The fleshtones were accurate thanks in large part to the flat and plentiful lighting, eliminating grain and other visual defects in a manner I wish contemporary companies would at least consider. This was one of the Holliday flicks where few budget considerations came into play, coming off as great looking if not the best the man had to offer at this stage in his career. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English with the vocals very solidly captured and the music still a cut above the pack as far as I was concerned. The music was trademark Jim Holliday style with Reno & the Rumrunners with Jan, Derol, & the Steamrollers on back up duties this time. There was the normal range of music here for those who care but the movie seemed to be more of an after thought or filler in between the other movie made at the same time.

Body of Review: Jim Holliday shuffled off this mortal coil far too soon for my tastes thanks to medical issues related to diabetes but his work at VCA Pictures lives on to provide a glimpse into the mind of a guy that some called a twisted genius with an ego the size of Chatsworth. I would tend to disagree with this assessment since his numerous audio commentaries explained his point of view, showing that he knew what he was doing and understood why his critics were so hateful. I liked his stuff for many reasons and while it wasn't all classic, it largely followed a number of rules that Jim established for his movies, rarely deviating except for specific reasons. Back in June of 2002, he made three he shot three flicks; including Summer Camp Sun Bunnies: Special Edition (the subject of this review), Melted Pink and Sorority Sex Kittens 6. The fluff bunny story aside, the sex was pretty enjoyable as a stroker, and fans will appreciate all that went into the movie. The back cover described it like this: "Experienced camp counselors seek renewal certificates from the infamous Camp Dump, but the owner's two spoiled, snotty nieces screw with the girls at very turn. Over 20 of the hottest current porn babes decorate the desert setting where the movie was shot... Eye candy deluxe and sex as scorchingly hot as the relentless, sizzling desert sun... another winner from Jim Holliday, the undisputed master of all-star cast epics." If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used in all the male driven scenes:

Scene One: Violet Blue, back when she had lightened hair, started off the movie with Mark Ashley in bed before the credits. The oral was especially heated and she went to doing anal. Especially back in the early 2000's, many gals doing anal did it like they were in tremendous pain but Violet seemed to relish her role in the movie, bouncing on him in a couple of positions very hard. The chemistry between them was solid and the scene, while short, was very solid.

Scene Two: Ryan Conner, a blonde with a bit of junk in her trunk sporting a slight MILF appeal, was up next in bed with Mark Ashley. She was lying on the bed on her stomach with no panties on, attracting his attention with her wonderful ass. He started licked her asshole which turned her on so she started slobbing his knob with practiced ease as he felt her up. He then started hammering away at her as she moaned just enough to make it believable but not so much to make it faked. The vaginal was kind of passive since he was on top but when they moved to anal, she was really bouncing on his rod hard. When he eventually popped, he coated her face like crazy.

Scene Three: Felecia, perhaps the best known lesbian in the porn world for years, and busty Lita Chase, were up next in bed. The ladies were having fun with licking each other, moving to toys as Felecia took over. It didn't last long but it was quality lesbian action at its best.

Scene Four: Casey "fourth name change" Pink, a gal that under any name was never the hottest gal in porn, showed that facial beauty isn't everything as her body seemed ripe for the plucking (and fucking) by Alex Sanders on the sandy dunes. He went down on her as though she was the best tasting hotty in the world and she reciprocated with a very capable hummer before they went to boning vaginally. The vaginal was the best but she seemed to be pretty good with the anal too, however short it was before the facial pop.

Scene Five: Katie Morgan, a delightfully attractive blonde with a helium pitched voice, and Petra, a gal with a similar body, were up next as they had some lesbian fun together in bed. It was short but soon cut away to curvy Monica Mayhem and "biker boy" Marty Romano going at it in bed. He ate her and started tapping her pussy, with Katie and Petra watching part way through. The initial screwing was pretty hard core but Monica was too passive for my tastes and I adored the idea that Katie jumped in with Petra to take over (with the gals sucking him off before riding him). Each gal got some good loving before Marty grabbed Katie's head (pissing her off) and blew out his load on her face; hitting her eye. He had a little bit of splooge left for Petra, with a lengthy bit of eye candy from the extended cast as they applied body paint to one another outside in the full sun.

Scene Six: Tanya Danielle, Katie Morgan, Petra, and Ryan Conner, were up next by and in the pool as they went down on one another in a lipstick lesbian scene. I would have preferred a huge, Jim Holliday styled lesbian orgy with all the ladies from the body painting scene to participate but the gals seemed to enjoy the tender side of the lesbian acts that Jim focused on so much. I liked that the bikinis were left on for much of the action and the camera work emphasized plenty of tease footage with tongues.

Scene Seven: Petra, looking more like Jennifer Love Hewitt then anyone else, was up next on the couch with Alex Sanders. He played a hillbilly with a crush and made a deal with her to lay off the camp counselors if he "fucked her real good" and she accepted. He spent some time sucking her feet (which was done in small ways earlier but never to the extent that Holliday used to use in his later flicks) and moved his way north shortly afterwards, even sucking her ass as he fingered her. She blew him with some decent energy in return and they proceeded with a vaginal ride that was pretty good, if not the best of the movie. His pop, it being the second of the day, was a lot smaller this time but sufficient for the task at hand.

Scene Eight: Monica Mayhem, wearing fishnet stockings and a pink top that left little to the imagination, was up last with Felecia in the dining hall. Felecia seduced her and served to be the giver most of the time, orally stimulating the Australian in the slightly darker than average scene. Monica gave some oral too but it seemed to be far less anxious and the Stacy Valentine comparisons on the commentary seemed a bit forced for me.

Summary: Summer Camp Sun Bunnies by director Jim Holliday for VCA Pictures was a lot of fun and provided a solid amount of choices in terms of the three versions of the movie on the DVD. This added value for me as did the commentary, the BTS, and the huge cast of hotties that served almost as a time capsule for the state of the industry when this was shot, earning the movie a rating of at least a Recommended or better, depending on your personal tastes. In short, Summer Camp Sun Bunnies: Special Edition was not the biggest release in Jim Holliday's career but for the type of quality porn he shot, there was no doubt it was a winner for fans in search of some material to inspire hand to gland combat.
