Audio/Video Quality: Shane's World 29: Frat Row Scavenger Hunt 3 was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by Chris Streams for Shane's World. The series is supposed to look like it was shot by an amateur; something like many other Pro-Am series, and it did in virtually all scenes. The lighting would wash out the fleshtones, the camera would lose focus, and the composition of the shots varied at times but the raw energy of the show remained intact as the series tends to be good at. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio was decent but I didn't notice a lot of separation between the channels (the center channel provided pretty much all of the sound) and the dynamic range was about average for the series with solid music by ArtBox. The technical values in general were once again decent but a bit more work might help them even more in the future. This being a much older volume in the series, it is easy to see why it looked and sounded like it did, and all the criticism about technical qualities aside, it conveyed a sense of heat and spontaneity better then most flicks shot back in 2001.

Body of Review: Chris Streams has become one of my favorite directors this year for his work elsewhere but I recently found out he was at least partially responsible for some of my favorite classics from Shane's World too. One of his earliest works for them was Shane's World 29: Frat Row Scavenger Hunt 3, a title that pit two groups of professionals against one another as they tried to finish a long list of twisted acts. If I hadn't seen the youthful Streams at the end announcing the winners, I'd have suggested my pal was lying but there he was in full glory so I ate my words. In any case, at this point in the company's history, they had made national headlines several times already, gaining a cult status that follows them to this day. The back cover said it like this: "We went to one of the rowdiest colleges to see how wild they really were. As soon as Team 1 pulled up to frat row, we knew we'd met our match. This video has more blowjobs, hand jobs, and crazy antics than any of our other scavenger hunts! When the teams weren't out tearing up the town they were fucking each other's brains out. So, tap the keg and get ready - these girls are out of control!" For me then, the amount of sex and extras took a slight back seat to this as a time capsule of one of this year's best directors, though the fun factor was off the scale too. Here's a quick look at the scenes and some of the antics of the movie, noting that condoms were not used and no amount of detailed explanation would truly work to explain how cool this was.

Scene One: Sunrise Adams, one of the cutest contract gals ever seen at Vivid, was up first in bed with Tony Pounds. The sex followed some of the formulaic rules of porn but seemed to be spontaneous in other ways, as the two orally stimulated one another on the bed in the motel room. The camera work by Chris Streams was creative and lacked some of the quality he employs now but managed to show me the roots of where he gets his talents from. The spotlight effect used to light the scenes back then by the company was a pain at times but proved to me that it really was from Shane's World and not a knock off as others trying to steal their thunder have attempted in the past. For her part, Sunrise wasn't very active at screwing (like her oral) but she was captivating all the same. The pop went to her ass cheeks and lower back, ending the scene.

Scene Two: Calli Cox, always the bundle of energy and spreader of joy that she was, joined curvy Bobbi Barrington, Tony, and a couple of the frat boys in the communal shower. While not exactly having sex, it was fun and lucky Rock got to make out with them. I was amazed that Calli's calls for volunteers to make out and get oiled up were met with few takers but it was fun nonetheless.

Scene Three: Sunrise Adams, the hottest looking gal of the cast, was up next in bed with Tyler Woods as he ate her out to nice effect. It wasn't quite like a regular porno and I almost believed she was getting into it, even when he started nailing her wet pussy. She was much more active this time too and the scene might have been short but it was well handled with great replay for fans that might have found her mainstream porn work a bit dry. For those who care, it ended with a facial that she did not shy away from in the slightest.

Scene Four: Calli Cox, one of the leading cheerleaders of the show, was the focal point of some handjob action, making out, and other playful antics, as the Team One crew were out in the limousine going to different fraternity houses to accomplish their given tasks. One of the guys got to drill Calli with a clear dildo as he put on his "Jay" routine (from the Kevin Smith movies), getting everyone else in the room horned up as hell.

Scene Five: Calli Cox, Bobbi Barrington, and a number of college guys were up next as the ladies let them drink booze off their (the gals') naked bodies. There was more to it then that but it was great fun and infectious, even for a non-drinker like me.

Scene Six: Venus, a dark haired professional with a glazed look but elevated physiological response to sexual activity, was up next with Tony on the bed. She kissed him a lot and played with his nipples as he felt her ass up during a section billed as a sex break, with her soon blowing him and taking a few moments worth of screwing in her pussy before he popped a modest load.

Scene Seven: Sunrise Adams, Venus, and some bald guy jumped in the team two limousine after the cops ran them off for being double parked. They had a long list of items to accomplish; enticing him into coming with them on the promise of making out but soon finding both gals slobbing his knob. Sunrise did a fine job here and Venus was fun too, even if they goofed on him after he left.

Scene Eight: Bobbi Barrington and Tony Pounds, were up next in a sex break that seems to have taken place either before or after the festivities of the scavenger hunt took place. The oral was slower and ore seductive and they appeared to almost be a real life couple the way they took their time getting each other off or at least warmed up with the oral and straight sex. I didn't really like her moles here but they weren't focused on too much and the action was pretty good here; ending with a facial.

Scene Nine: Venus, Sunrise Adams, and another hapless mope were up next as Venus practically jumped him on his bike to make the proposition. The popsicle in the pussy was cute and rest of the tidbits were surprisingly arousing, with the other guy getting into the fun too.

Scene Ten: Calli Cox, all juiced up from the group shower scene (the second one mind you) was up last as she engaged Tyler Woods on the bed. The two seemed to be into one another and it was great that Sunrise shared the moment when the gals double teamed his meat. In all, this scene was one of the best in terms of full sexual contact; not surprising considering the mixture of the two ladies in the scene (Calli's energy and Sunrise's looks.

Summary: Shane's World 29: Frat Row Scavenger Hunt 3 showed director Chris Streams proving to elevate the Shane's World series higher then usual in some ways, even if the DVD release seemed somewhat rushed compared to several of the contemporary volumes before and after this one. Still, thanks to the fun factor, the strokability, and the silly antics of the ladies, Shane's World 29: Frat Row Scavenger Hunt 3 earned a rating of Recommended from me. Good work!
