Extra's: The first extras I really liked were the bonus masturbation features. The first starred Karlie Montana and lasted 13 minutes and the second lasted about 10 minutes and starred Celeste Star. They were shot on video and seemed far less stylish then the movie itself, each gal showing a different set of skills that fans will likely appreciate significantly more than most lame extras these days. Next was a set of alternate endings to some of the scenes, with low vocals but still able to project differing dynamics to the movie had they been chosen. They weren't just a minute or two so they also added value. The 6 minutes long Behind the Scenes feature by Dic Tracy was too edited for my liking but it served to show that the cast and crew had some fun, with Devan enjoying himself a little too much. There was also a photogallery and trailers to Deep in Style, Krystal Therapy, Ashton Asylum, Chanel No. 1, and others.

Audio/Video Quality: Altered Minds was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 (letterboxed) color as shot by director DCypher for release by Club Jenna. Shot in HD, the movie actually looked very crisp and clear in terms of the picture, despite the darker nature of the sets used in the scenes. The fleshtones were accurate and the level of detail provided was quite high for a modern release but it wasn't substantially different than most mid range porn offered these days at higher end companies like Club Jenna. The composition of the shots tended to favor the ladies, showing marked improvement from his last few movies. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English offering, not the surround sound bandied about online, and for the most part, it provided a standard porn experience. The vocals were easy to hear and the music seemed to fit the movie far more readily than many of the recent releases by the company.

Body of Review: DCypher has probably written more porn screenplays than anyone else in the industry, many of them award winning (regardless of who's name was credited) but his work as a director and internet pundit over the last few years has elevated his status in the eyes of many, resulting in his new contract with Club Jenna. Given their reliance on flashy vignettes lacking much depth, his employment came at just the right time for them, just as their resources seem the perfect opportunity for the talented director to expand some of his thematic displays. While I don't claim to understand everything he provides as adult entertainment, he often gives folks enough that they can interpret the stories in several ways, made even easier with his first release for the company, a scorching tale of darker themes called Altered Minds. The movie served to showcase the skills of contract hotties Jesse Capelli and McKenzie Lee as they showed a lady trying to figure out her place in a world gone wrong. The cover put it like this: "A high class sex slave owned by a wealthy and powerful man escapes his pervasive jealous and controlling behavior by exploring the decadent fantasies of her subconscious with her evil doppelganger. The further she allows herself to slip into her wanton daydreams the more control she loses until she eventually gives herself over entirely to the darkest elements of her libido in an attempt to gain her freedom." If that sounds as interesting to you as it did to me, you're almost sure to appreciate the action, albeit as a solid alternative to the usual fare from Club Jenna. Here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that there were no credits for the performers but most of them were well known enough to fill in the blanks and that only one condom was used:

Scene One: Riley Shy, a redhead with brilliant blue eyes, was up first after some minor tease sequences; masturbating in earnest as she dug for gold inside her pussy. It wasn't a long act but it served as a sexual opener with Jesse Capelli getting a few rubs in herself before the scene ended.

Scene Four: Jesse Capelli, the hotty featured on the left hand side of the front cover, was up in a lesbian scene with cutie Carli Banks on a modeling runway stage while scores of extras watched dispassionately. The ladies really cranked up the heat and while I know many of you aren't into the lipstick lesbian action from the company, they seemed to be getting off as they licked, sucked, and fingered one another into oblivion. Jesse was a better giver than receiver but I thought it was among her best work with a woman to date.

Scene Five: Cassie Young, Brooke Banner, and Ben English, were up next in a stylish tribute to slavery. The ladies were chained sex slaves with him in his top hat and tuxedo acting like a rich man of yesteryear until the ladies worked his cock over. They initially took turns blowing him, proving that sharing if caring, but seemed to get greedy as they wanted him inside of them. Her gloves and other accessories were pretty heat inducing too but it was her demeanor that really stoked the fires of the scene; fanning the flames as she inhaled his cock deeply while trying to get him off. Summary: Altered Minds by director DCypher for Club Jenna was full of the kind of ladies you'd love to meet if you had a large wad of cash on hand and they were feeling charitable. The action varied a lot according to the theme of the particular scene but the movie proved to be a giant step forward from most of the movies released by secondary directors at the company, earning a rating of Recommended. The direction allowed for the movie to serve not only as a good stroke flick but as an entertaining one as well, addressing deeper themes that few in porn seem willing or able to do these days. The ending was decadent (there were alternative endings for the squeamish) but Altered Minds was clearly the first volley of quality for Devan to prove yet again that all porn doesn't have to be lowbrow.
