Extra's: The best extra on a porno is always extra sex so the inclusion of two full scenes, lengthy and all new scenes at that, should surely be on the top of your list of solid extras. The first was a bonus scene lasting over 30.5 minutes starring Jasmine Byrne (soon to be called J-Ho) taking on some guys. The second was an even longer 33 minute long scene with Victoria Sweet and the crew. I detailed both below for your reading benefit and most fans will like them a lot. There was also a Behind the Scenes feature lasting about 25 minutes, apparently shot by Jake Malone in part, that had interviews, some photoshoot material, and more sex. If you're a fan of the cast, you'll like the feature a lot for what it had to offer. There was a related 23 minute photoshoot as well, allowing the ladies to pose for the stills that were captured on the cover and in the photogallery. Audio/Video Quality: New Whores on the Block 2: Special Edition was presented in 1.85:1 ratio letterboxed color as shot by director Manuel Ferrara for distribution by Evil Angel on his company label. I would've greatly preferred the movie to be in anamorphic widescreen (the process adds a lot of detail to the picture on widescreen televisions) but that trend hasn't hit Evil Angel yet so I'll just have to wait. This being his fourth or fifth release for the company, I figured it would look similar to the last one though in coming months I'm led to believe that there will be some improvements made too. The colors were fairly solid, the fleshtones accurate, but the lighting was not the best this time; making the picture look decent but not as good as some of his older work. Lighting varied by the scenes and was spottier than previous efforts but still seemed to convey the sense of raw energy fairly well. The amount of grain and video noise were low to moderate as a result so while it wasn't the best I've seen from Manuel, it was better than some gonzo productions. Jake Malone, Juan Cuba, and Manuel himself worked the cameras but these scenes were not really up to par compared to some of the trio's other works of late. There were no compression artifacts noticed during the scenes but the strength of the visuals was how the composition of the shots almost always enhanced the looks or perceived passion of the scenes. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with minimal separation between the channels and a standard dynamic range, making it nothing special in this sense but not bad either.

Body of Review: Manuel Ferrara has been one of the most surprising newcomer directors in gonzo over the last year thanks to his ability to translate his sexual charisma onto the small screen with numerous women in his productions. Now that he's in the big leagues with a distribution deal at Evil Angel, the length of his movies has increased substantially and the extras have been ramped up considerably as well, with New Whores on the Block 2: Special Edition being his latest release to make it my way. The title would make one think the ladies in the cast were all new to porn but that was simply not the case, each seeming to have plenty of experience with a cock, but the scenarios were often funny and the heated performances better than average so I thought most of you who have enjoyed Manuel's previous efforts would like this one too. If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

The double disc set provided ample space to leave the scenes less compressed but the simple fact is that the lighting and work on the front end probably couldn't be fixed in post production. Still, the raw energy from the scenes and splendid performances made up most of the lost ground so I rated it as a high end Recommended, even if I wondered what happened to the picture more than a few times. In short, New Whores on the Block 2: Special Edition showed that these whores might have been established professionals but their ride on Manuel's block was well worth the trip.
