Extra's: The best extra by far was the 40.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. It had a ton of footage of starlet Justine Joli but also the others gals and the crew that contributed to the movie (with a fair bit of the director getting in on the fun too). If you're a fan of Justine, the BTS alone will merit buying a copy of the movie as it had significant stroke and replay value but I admit to being a fan of the BTS stuff in general so your mileage may vary. There were also two trailers, a photogallery, and a fetching slipcover for the DVD case.

Audio/Video Quality: Corrupted By Justine Joli was presented in the same letterboxed 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color it was shot in by fledgling director Heidi Joy Pike for release by New Machine/Corrupted Pictures. Industry veteran Dick Logan actually worked the camera and edited it, a testament to the wisdom of a director who hires people to handle the aspects of directing they are not up to speed on. The camera spent a lot more time on close ups than I would have personally preferred and some of it showed how fluid (as in bouncy or motion sickness inducing) the camera tended to be but the lighting was solid and that limited the grain, video noise and other related elements substantially. Shot on video, the only thing about the lighting I wasn't keen on was the washed out look some portions had that wasn't edited out. Otherwise, the composition of the camera angles tended to enhance the look of the gals, making it a nice early attempt by the director. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 224 Kbps bit rate, but the microphone placement was not optimal for capturing the vocals in most cases. This led to hollow sounding talk more often than not and a problem a great many movies shot in recent years seems to have (though this was worse). The music wasn't a factor and some polishing up on future efforts will go a long way to making it better on several levels.

Body of Review: Heidi Joy Pike has been in porn for years now in one capacity or another. My earliest memories of her are from her stint working with John "Buttman" Stagliano though her lengthy stay as a senior editor at AVN were far more eventful in terms of her public profile. Not having met her in person myself, she always seemed to generate controversy at the industry icon, leaving me with the distinctive impression that most people in the industry either really liked her or really hated her with little room for walking the fence. I have friends on both sides of the matter so absent something specific to go on, I'll remain neutral and suggest that we let her work speak for itself. The work in question is her debut as a director for New Machine/Corrupted Pictures with Corrupted By Justine Joli, a showcase title for Justine as a hot lesbian out to convert others to her form of physical pleasure. Now I know the common logic is that reviewers and editors are piss poor choices to convert into directors (at least barring some experience behind the camera or education in the field) but it has been done successfully before (Jim Holliday being the first example coming to mind) and I like to see what newcomers have to offer before passing judgment on them. Well, if you like a fusion of lipstick lesbianism with the real thing or are infatuated with the lovely Justine Joli, you're going to find this one an exceptionally heated flick with some rookie technical errors but a lot of raw energy to compensate with. If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were needed since no men had sex here:

Scene One: Justine Joli, the hot little redhead on the front cover, was up first in a masturbation scene on a large bed. The camera was a bit too close to properly cover the motion of the movement but Justine was looking as sweet as ever as she stripped off her lacy black panties to taste them and begin rubbing herself. This led to some expansive pink toy plunging deep inside of her pussy and her tasting it, ending the rather short scene. To me, this served more as a warm up than anything else but I'm sure her fans will be delighted, regardless of the technical issues the scene had.

Scene Two: Justine Joli, wearing a light pink corset and matching accessories, walked in on cutie Lexi Love who was naked with her ass in the air on a lounger in the house. Our heroine immediately went to work licking the gal's ass and other genitalia, the smile on Lexi's face telling me all I needed to know about how it felt to her. The lesbian action continued with Lexi as a giver, putting on a cool little hand mounted vibrator as the two went into a 69. The sheer contrast between Justine's milky white skin and Lexi's darker tan was enough to work for me but unlike some of the lipstick lesbian antics I've grown fond of over the years; this struck me as a valid attempt to provide something more fulfilling. Fans of foot fetish will undoubtedly appreciate the amount of it used here (I'm neutral on the topic), as will toy fans but I found the scene to be a very nice surprise with a lot of chemistry and heat to it.

Scene Three: Justine Joli, playing third wheel to Jack Lawrence and his girlfriend Ashley Steel (a cute blonde with a lean body), was up next in a scene catering to fans of conversion; the process by which a lesbian supposedly "converts" a straight gal to the wonders of lesbianism by talent, skill, or sheer ability. Jack sat the scene out as the ladies did the deed on the couch but in fairness to the illusive concept, just as Neo-Cons can't "convert" gays to become straight, neither can Justine or other lesbians convert straight women to their way of life. Still, as lame as the concept is, the scene was well played and I never had any doubt that both of them have long been enjoying the fairer sex as a main means of passion (despite the wooden attempts at acting otherwise). The licking and toy use were slightly different this time; still equipped with great toys but using them a bit less blatantly. The face sitting and other oral were just as warm as the last scene with my favorite shot being Justine's face jammed up Ashley's ass before Jack walked in. It was less passionate than the prior scene but a nice addition to the show nonetheless.

Scene Four: Justine Joli, hanging out with brunette gal pal Jenna Presley by a glass table, were chewing gum as Justine put her moves on Jenna while they discussed their relationship. Justine wanted to have her cake and eat it too (maybe the operative word should have been pie though) but no sex took place at this time, waiting until after Jasmine's scene to pick back up. Okay, the scene picked back up after the Jasmine scene with Justine coming back home to Jenna, wanting to make up her extra curricular activities to Jenna as passionately as possible. The tension was caught well enough and the basic sex tricks were largely the same so I had little to complain about as they roughly worked each other over. The plentiful bruises on Justine stood out a lot more than I would have liked and the camera again spent too much time on very close shots but I thought the energy between them was solid. A respite from the toys might have proved to be a nice change of pace but I know many of you like them and this is one area where I think real life lesbians are not as active in (I'm pals with a number of them and they almost universally aren't into male phallic symbols to get off with). Still, it ended the movie on another high note and served the dynamic well other than that.

Scene Five: Justine Joli, bringing home uber hotty Jasmine Bryne, to meet "mom" in the form of tranny Wendy Williams, made out up stairs on the bed after getting a dressing down by Wendy. Justine dominated Jasmine, spanking her fine ass and taking off her clothes before the gals started pawing each other viciously in order to get each other off. The scene came across as shot a bit sloppy (much like the first scene) but it had some decent raw energy and Justine wielded her strap on dildo very powerfully on the curvy Jasmine. I wish the bondage accessories Justine put on Jasmine were used to better effect but this is one scene where I'd like to see the rematch as Justine was largely the giver this time. If asked whether or not Jasmine got off a few times, I'd have to answer in the affirmative, though something was missing from the scene other than just the unbalanced sexual dynamic.

Summary: Corrupted By Justine Joli by director Heidi Joy Pike for release by New Machine/Corrupted Pictures was probably the best release from the company I've seen in a very long time, maybe forever. I acknowledge that I find Justine an attractive lady with substantial sexual charm and the others were not slackers in that regard either (though some were clearly better than others) but even with the lack of technical polish, I think director Pike can safely say that she has some modicum of talent worth pursuing. I'm sure someone or other will fuss at me for saying so but I reiterate that I have no particular axe to grind for or against her. Granted, when shooting a lesbian flick, the lead can make or break you (had Heidi made this one 9 years ago, it could have starred Felecia and come out largely the same) but the scenarios and variations on the specific sexual dynamics were enough to convince me that someone was paying attention to detail on the thematic end if nothing else. As an "All Girl Odyssey" it worked and despite my personal preference for technically perfect porn (at least comparatively speaking), Corrupted By Justine Joli was a solid first attempt and easy to rate as Recommended. If it had better extras and was polished up a bit, it would have been rated the next step up the ladder, not bad for a newbie director. Good work!
