Extra's: The second disc was clearly the place to find the best extra in the form of the lengthy featurette called The Girls of the Asian Love Palace. If you saw the first volume in the series, you'll know how heavily that extra (don't worry, this is a new one) factored into the rating of the DVD set and this was the case here as well though it was far shorter in length this time. The 15.5 minute long feature was a montage of the ladies of the cast as they teased, danced in various states of undress, and masturbated in a heavily edited special with a droning music track. I liked it but it was far from the kind of extra the original volume provided, leaving way too much space on the disc for my tastes. The first disc also had some fine extras with a 16.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by David sporting a number of interviews, photoshoot material, and extra sex being a solid opener for me. This led to a photogallery and trailers to shows such as Test Drive, Teradise Island, Sexxxpose: Tiffany Taylor, Sexxxpose: Lexie Marie, Sexxxpose: Britney Skye, Sexxxpose: Nikki Benz, Reign of Tera 1, Fashion Underground, Desperate, Collision Course, Tera Tera Tera, and Domination, a true double sided DVD cover, and a coupon for a 15 day trial membership to Club Tera's website that looked pretty interesting.

Audio/Video Quality: Reign Of Tera 2 was presented in a letterboxed (non-anamorphic) widescreen color presentation as shot by director Spyder Jonez for Teravision. It has been awhile since the first volume in the series and Spyder has definitely been taking some time to learn more about crafting a movie, admittedly making some mistakes along the way. The good news is that he's learning, and his desire to push himself is in marked contrast to others in the industry that demand the glory first without taking the lumps and devoting the time & energy to making it happen (K.L. comes to mind). The editing was a bit rough and the camera work seemed almost as if two people were working the camera; one that knew what to shoot and the other trying to figure it out as he went along but in all, I thought it was a decent looking flick for fans of Asian action. The fleshtones were accurate, the lighting typically plentiful, and the composition of the shots such that the performers were made to look their best. I'm a bigger fan of gonzo at this point in time but there were numerous nods given to the genre in how this was shot, offering one of the best looking Spyder directed movies to date. The DVD mastering was pretty solid too with minimal edge enhancement and no noticeable compression artifacts seen on my large screen television. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English. The vocals were too low a number of times and the music was set too high (I'm not a fan of techno-thumping music in this kind of porn either) but I could hear the performers dirty talk and sex noises well enough so aside from some issues with the dialogue, it was also pretty good to listen too on average.

Body of Review: Spyder Jonez has been called a lot of things over the years, many of them unfavorable, but he channeled his focus into making his wife an even bigger star as well as gave both of them a company to be proud of with Teravision. The market the company seeks to serve is not the dime-a-dozen gonzo offerings or the generic vignettes that are also in favor with companies that make porn on the cheap. Instead, Spyder and his wife Tera Patrick have explored trying to make different kinds of porn; from features to stylish couple's titles that you wouldn't be embarrassed to watch with a girlfriend. Their latest collaboration is Reign Of Tera 2, the sequel to Reign Of Tera 1; a movie that served notice to a lot of critics that Tera Patrick was far from over. The story is about a brothel run by the two, catering to an exclusive crowd that prefer Asian action, this time offering up a murder mystery as a side plot. The cover said it like this: "In the second installation of the decadent "Reign of Tera" series, Tera Patrick gets back in action with her first ever boy-boy-girl scene. We find her back at the Asian Love Palace, Mr Jonez's high roller Asian whorehouse, where every imaginable fantasy is fulfilled. Sex, jealousy, drama, and even murder leave everyone in this lust filled XXX thriller wanting more..." If you're a fan of Tera, you'll want to see this one, despite the limits of the story. That said, here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Roxy Jezel, a sexy little English gal of Asian descent, was up first as the new gal in the brothel; getting her test drive by Spyder Jonez himself. I'm not going to say that he's their best stud but the wisdom of using him with such a petite gal is that he looked huge working with her and he seems to have been working on his performance ability in front of the camera as well. For her part, Roxy is a class act and noted performer that can elevate any scene to new heights as she is well versed in the art of gonzo sex (better than most of the industry, in fact). Together, they showed a lot of energy and even chemistry; something I wasn't prepared for but gladly appreciated. The oral was warm and the penetrative hammering he gave her while she overacted was a lot of fun, her aggressive sexual style shining in the process. She did plenty of PTM and her oral didn't stop at the front of the scene, making it a solid opener for the movie's sexual action as well as the impetus for the plot to move forward. It ended when he rubbed out a load of population pudding onto her face, angering Tera in the process.

Scene Two: Tera Patrick, the feature star of the movie plastered all over the cover, was up next as she turned her anger at Spyder into a heated lesbian scene with Charmane Star. Their skimpy outfits slowly came off during the warming up part of the scene on the daybed as the gals pawed each other all over. Tera has not always been a great fan of gal pal antics so I was pleased to see her hitting her stride too, showing that she has indeed come a long way sexually since the wooden performances she used to give all too often. I like enough to be truthful about her track record and admit that I haven't always been a fan but while she still has a way to go to reach her full potential, she has become much more accessible of late in such scenes (as long as they're with the right person). Charmane gave the better head of the two, eating cookie like the cookie monster when she took charge, with Tera sticking to sucking the large dildo as she plunged it deep inside Charmane's pussy. The gals worked the toy on each other, including at the same time, more evenhandedly so I will still have to wait for the day when Tera embraces eating out a female as much as I do/ There were some mechanical moments to the scene as well but on average, it served as solid stroke material for aficionados of lesbian pairings. Even though Tera wasn't completely into the action, I saw the look in her eye that told me she at least had fun, a marked step forward as she improves her craft like Spyder has been doing, Charmane always giving her all (as usual of course).

Scene Three: Tera Patrick, fresh off the last scene, was up next in what was inaccurately billed as her first guy/guy/gal scene ever in front of the camera (IIRC, she did one in Forbidden Tales and I clearly recall the one from Jack's Playground 25 now that someone asked me about it). Her partners were stud of the year Tommy Gunn and distant runner up Jerry as they found her charms too much to resist when she made them that offer they couldn't refuse. They slowly stripped off her robe in the throne room where she ruled the brothel, sucking her titties as though infatuated with the idea that they would be a first for the star. That led to her slobbing their knobs in a close up, working each over very skillfully as she went back and forth from one to the other. I'm not going to say she was the best cock sucker in porn but her reigning status as one of the few "big names" currently making scenes made it that much more special and she proved to be very talented indeed. She got some oral loving too but as much as I wish I was the one between her legs, I was more interested in seeing her work the meat pipes presented her, especially Tommy's as his appeal far outweighs that of the scores of lesser performers in the jizz biz. The scene continued with her sucking off Jerry as Tommy tapped her cookie from behind in doggy style, pounding away until it was Jerry's turn at bat. Tera was good enough to stay actively engaged in blowing one while riding the other, showing an active riding style that I found especially stimulating compared to her older scenes. It ended too soon for me but even as it ended with the men rubbing out loads to her chest, I felt that Tera was proving her critics wrong (again) about her sexual value as added into a movie, albeit with the caveat that the advertised action was not her first such scene. Scene Four: Nautica Thorn and Lucy Thai, both dressed to the hilt in sexy lingerie, were up next with the tag team of Tommy Gunn and Jerry; though after the scene they just had, I'd have been surprised that they could stay awake. The gals handled their work differently than Tera in that they seductively but aggressively tore into the cock, rubbing and sucking the men off almost as if trying to cause an early pop shot. The gals did manage to savor the taste a bit but they were on fire and did not take the time to really enjoy the cock as they worked the men over heatedly. The passion of the action alone provided a different kind of energy and while I'd rather spend time with Tera (for exclusivity alone), Nautica and Lucy would make nice runner up rides too. The aggressive riding style the ladies employed served the scene well, Nautica proving to be my favorite of the two with the scene ending as they took the facials. I will say that the penetrative action was shot almost as if for softcore most of the time but it was strokable thanks to the passionate performances provided.

Scene Five: Nyomi Marcela and Kaiya Lynn, another couple of Asian gals that fit the brothel model of the plot, were up last with detective's Scott Nails and Alec Knight in the glamorous room where lots of action took place. Both ladies were as skilled as I would expect of real professional hookers at a brothel but lacked some of the drive the secondary cast ladies in the previous scenes had. Scott was also a lot better in terms of sexual performance than Alec, making it an okay but weak-by-comparison scene, the ladies sucking cock with precision and a mechanical aptitude that would work better if a viewer were there in real life more than viewing it at home. The screwing was similar in the dynamic, everyone doing their job but lacking the spark needed to translate into the kind of enthusiasm you'd hope to find in a porno like this. The gals did taste testing of cock from each other and the scene ended with the expected ATM during the anal; cumswapping the semen to finish the sexual portion of the show.

Summary: Reign Of Tera 2 by director Spyder Jonez for Teravision proved that Tera still reigns supreme and it serves as a fine sequel worthy of Tera's charms. The technical qualities were a step forward, the ladies were in fine shape (especially Tera, Roxy, and Nautica), and the action was suitable for plenty of stroke sessions with decent levels of fuck for the buck. In all, Reign Of Tera 2 was worth a rating of Recommended or better by me, serving as a decent sequel to Reign Of Tera 1, though my buddy Rob seemed to like it even more than I did, giving it a better nod. If you're a fan of Tera Patrick, this is the best title out of the month, serving to show her increasing boundaries as both her and Spyder push forward to offer more of what the fans want, rather than having her fall into the kind of contract gal status where she does less as time goes on.
