Audio/Video Quality: Devon Does Baja was presented in the standard 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by freshman director Devon in her debut at the helm of a Shane's World title. The way the company works is that Devon used their production crew to instill the same kind of quality while taking charge of the basic decisions rather than work the camera as other directors seem to do. This time, the lighting and editing were again pretty good, eliminating the grain, video noise, and other issues related to lighting. There were a lot of silly parts that I'm glad weren't edited out as they made it more fun to watch; part of the standard dynamic of the company road trip movies. The composition of the shots weren't always designed to enhance the looks of the ladies and make them appear as hot as possible but these were some of the choicest picks that could have been made; no enhancement really needed. The DVD showed no major compression artifacts or mastering issues (the bitrate hovering around the 5 Mbps mark) and looked like a great release overall for the company (shame I again can't credit anyone as director for it). The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps and like many other releases by the company, the vocals were almost always hard to hear with no real separation noticed or major dynamic range to speak of as with the noisy party titles the company puts out these days.

Body of Review: Devon is perhaps best known as a large chested contract gal that spent the majority of her career under contracts that limited what she could do and whom she could do it with. Last year, she decided to change things up and wound up at Shane's World; both as their newest director and performer. If that sounds good to you, you'll be happy to know that despite some rough edges, it was one of the best debut releases by the company to date, putting to rest the internet rumors to the contrary. The sex was not formulaic or predictable, the cast seemed to be having a lot of fun, and while I enjoyed the playful demeanor of the cast in their sex scenes, their off screen antics added a lot of entertainment value as well. The technical matters suffered a bit from wind noise and the need to get footage shot in public places quickly, but Devon showed a spontaneous side that she was unable to display in her past work, making it a lot different a movie from what I've seen of her in the past. In short, the road trip to Mexico captured in Devon Does Baja was the kind of change of pace that makes the company one of my top picks when looking for something truly alternative to the generic porn dominating the market today.
