Extra's: There were some decent extras offered up this time, including my favorite of the bunch being the 21:52 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Kylie Ireland. There was some interview material, additional nudity, and a sense of playfulness amongst the performers and crew that served to establish the movie as being a bit rushed but fun for the cast and crew to make. It began with Eli confirming with Kayden that it was her "first movie", though she has reportedly been in other movies in the past and/or has done internet work. The name of the movie was changed and the others interjected their own commentary but Kylie did a good job of capturing a variety of interesting material (Penny's zany humor adding the most fun but "dorky" Julie giving some funny moments too). Most of you will appreciate the five unrelated bonus scenes (I outlined most of them below); $2 Bill starring Lanny Barby & Evan Stone; Wild Poppy: with Dasha and Dillion Day; The End Game, with Monique Alexander and Joel Lawrence; Lacie's Life starring Lacie Heart and James Deen; Groupie starring Tawny Roberts and Evan Stone; but they were mostly from older flicks and looked poorly mastered so your mileage may vary. There was surprisingly no biography for lovely Kayden Kross, but other standards like the two photogalleries, a second side for the DVD cover that showed four new titles released on DVD (instead of the less explicit version of the primary cover as the company has used for years), some spam (including a front commercial that could be skipped by remote control), and trailers to movies like Debbie Does Dallas Again, Dinner Party, Sexy Young Thing, Colors, and Illicit.

Audio/Video Quality: Kayden's First Time was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Eli Cross for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience in porn runs a broad range inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD in 1080i, though presented in the SD format. The lighting was reasonably well handled (with minor exceptions as in parts of the scenes), limiting the grain, video noise, and other distracting flaws seen all too often in porn these days; the movie shot in a stark manner to augment the feature aspects of the movie. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were not always optimal this time, the saturated look giving me the impression that some of the crew were new to each other. The fleshtones were not as accurate this time but the DVD mastering was well done, making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality, the bitrate hovering around 4 Mbps. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital (192 Kbps bitrate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty generic. For some reason, the levels were lower than usual but aside from the added background noise from doing so, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: Eli Cross is one of the most well rounded directors in porn thanks to his background at AVN and as Kylie Ireland's main squeeze/production assistant. While he is now under contract elsewhere, he made a few titles for Vivid Entertainment that often provided some heated sex, albeit limited by the audience the company caters to. His latest release from the company is Kayden's First Time; the Vivid debut of beautiful Kayden Kross; their latest contract gal. I prefer experienced gals since their sexual energy tends to be so much more interesting but those of you wanting to see this former stripper turned performer get her shot, this is the place to go, a few pictures of her can be found at My 2006 Photo's if you look for them. The boxcover said it like this: "Kayden Kross was always a star. We just didn't know it. And then we found each other. We rushed her to the set. And she jumped on Manuel Ferrara like a seasoned pro. That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that Kayden was the only one using condoms:

Scene One: Penny Flame, one of the zaniest gals in porn that still manages to be a hotty, was up first in bed with muscular tattooed Derrick Pierce. There was no tease or build up but the dynamic she projected about being into the sex was very appealing as she slobbed his knob. Scene Three: Kayden Kross, the major hotty on the front cover, was up next with lucky Manuel Ferrara in the living room. They were on a mattress pad and she was anxious to do her first scene but didn't want to wear him out. He reassured her that he was a professional and would have no problems doing it all over again; nearly causing my bright green eyes to explode with envy (kidding!). The two did some oral on each other and Manuel was clearly the more skilled at it but she responded as though enjoying the action more than a little. Summary: Kayden's First Time by director Eli Cross for Vivid Entertainment might not have been his best work of last year but as a fan of most of the ladies present, I enjoyed it more than a little bit. Kylie, Julie, and Penny have long been proven quantities in porn with the newcomer appeal of Kayden certainly adding in some fun too. The levels of fuck for the buck and strokability were high enough to warrant a rating of Recommended, the standard package of extras and minor technical issues not weakening it in any significant way. In short, Kayden's First Time wasn't a bad debut for Kayden's Vivid contract and if you like gals that haven't been in dozens of titles, she may be just what you need to launch your seed.
