Extra's: For most of you, the bonus scene between Julia Ann and Ian Scott from Around The World In Seven Days will be the best extra. I prefer unique material but I described the scene below for those who haven't seen it. Personally, I enjoyed the 18:23 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Mark Stone (edited by Jef) a lot more as it had interviews with the key players of the movie and some additional sex footage. It wasn't Mark's best such feature of recent times but it did provide some stroke value and material for the fans. The extras also included the generic Wicked Pictures DVD catalog, a photogallery, company profile, Casino game, 7 Star Galleries, Award Winner and Nominations special, 3 Star Stat pages, desktop photos (all on DVD Rom), trailers to shows like The Visitors, Manhunters, Fuck, 1000 Words, Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre, and Sleeping Around, and a double sided DVD cover and slip case.

Audio/Video Quality: Rapture In Blue was presented in a letterboxed 1.78:1 widescreen color if was shot in by director David Stanley for Wicked Pictures. I would have preferred an anamorphically enhanced picture but even a company as well respected as Wicked Pictures sometimes drops the ball. The lighting seemed more natural than average for a porno, resulting in some grain, minor video noise, and shadows. The composition of the shots was good, enhancing the look of the ladies but sometimes showing too much propensity to move when a static shot would've worked better thematically. There were some compression artifacts but they really weren't a big issue for me as infrequent as they were here and the bitrate seemed to frequently hover in the upper 4 Mbps range so it could have looked worse. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English track, or 2.0 Dolby Digital tracks in Spanish or German. I'm not fluent enough in either of those languages to made definitive comments about them but they typically sounded funny to me; much like watching some of the old Kaiju movies from my childhood. The main track was showing a 384 Kbps bitrate (twice the normal rate for a porno) did have some separation between the channels but most of it appeared to be related to the musical score, which was very pleasantly handled; adding value and enhancing the mood of the movie more often then not.

Body of Review: David Stanley is one of the directors in porn that I sometimes think would be happier making small independent movies due to the stylish way he tries new things in his releases. He certainly has some talent on the technical and creative side of the equation but almost all of his movies seem to explore his personal quirks rather than cater to the porn loving audience. This is a mixed blessing of course but his titles for Wicked Pictures are known more for being movies with some sex in them than pornos with some story. His latest release is Rapture In Blue, a showcase piece for lovely Julia Ann as she explores her failed marriage and the causes behind it. There were some gimmicky story telling techniques used but it was the kind of light fluff that some couples new to porn might get a bigger kick out of than I did. The back of the box cover said it like this: "Sometimes in a relationship, somewhere along the way, things change. The once burning passion becomes a distant memory before it finally fades away completely. This is what Margot (Julia Ann) feels. So when she discovers her husband Darryl (Randy Spears) is cheating on her, she angrily demands a divorce. But that night, in her sleep, her dreams take her on a surreal journey. A journey that reveals the truth about her once loving relationship that will change her mind and her life forever. Sometimes you just need some insight, the kind of insight you can only get in your dreams." If that sounds interesting to you, here's a quick look at the short scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were plentiful here:

Scene One: Brooke Haven, the curvy cutie with the appealing face, was up first in a maid outfit as she serviced the head of the household, Randy Spears on the couch. The scene started with her helping him with his hairy backside, leading to a recuperative hummer that he enjoyed with the chaser being the vaginal ride. She was active in his lap, bouncing as her titties swayed in his face and her ass cheeks rippled, the couple trying a few positions before he rubbed out a load of population pudding on her chest. It was short but sweet, making me long for a lengthier version of the scene rather than one that fit into the movie quite so well.

Scene Two: Brooklyn, a fetching young lass with pretty eyes and a sword swallowing technique worth seeing more of, was up next in a darkened hallway with Frank Del Toro that lasted only a few moments before cock blocker Julia interrupted them and ended the scene. In that sense, it was more of a tease scene used to provide some edge (after all, what kind of porno would have a scene end way before the action finished, right?). In spite of the decision, I would have liked to see the couple finish in the car or something (even as a bonus scene).

Scene Three: Julia Ann, having been led around by her enlargened teddy bear (don't ask), and sexy brunette Roxy DeVille, were up next with studly Tommy Gunn in a representation of Randy watching porn on a large make shift TV set. Roxy was the focal point and got all nasty as she slobbed his knob, applying all sorts of kinky moves on his as she worked his meat pipe over thoroughly. Julia gave him a titty fuck too but her own oral was more indicative of the ice queen she portrayed in the movie, showing only a bit of her usual passion. Roxy took the vaginal pounding fairly well but Julia was passive as he banged her on the couch; some minor lesbian antics warming it up a little bit. The gals cumswapped his spew with a lengthy kiss and it was over before I realized.

Scene Four: Justine Joli, Kimberly Kane, and Randy Spears, were up next in what I guess could be best called a modified lesbian scene. The gals were focusing most of their efforts on pleasing each other with Justine doing a lion's share of the work on Kimberly, with Kimberly slowly jerking off Randy who seemed content to get whatever he could from them in return. As I write this after the fact, I think that Justine never touched his cock once (except maybe with her foot) but it ended with Kimberly giving him a footjob to orgasm.

Scene Five: Cherokee, playing an evil sexy nurse in Hell and doctor Eric Masterson, were then used to show the future where Julia was headed. They really didn't care much as Cherokee started giving Eric a messy hummer in the bed, her nipples showing a lot of attention if you catch my drift. I really liked Cherokee's ass in the air as the diminutive gal has always had a splendid backside, but her oral work was as good as I remember it (she hasn't been in a lot of porn lately) and the vaginal romp was also pretty decent but too passive most of the time. The scene closed out with him rubbing out a load to her awaiting mouth, none of it swallowed before the scene cut away.

Scene Six: Julia Ann, still inside of her dream wearing her gown, was up last in a darkened room with Randy Spears as the two came to grips with their past. The romantic moment of self exposition was okay but kind of clumsy in terms of the themes presented, working a bit only due to the acting skills of the pair. They were then in bed with a funny nod to the opening scene, the couple going at it with more passion than they had in their previous scenes here. She was an active cock rider this time and it ended with some oral and facial work before he finished her off with his tongue (spitting on it to make sure you'll be happy). It was a cute ending to a short but cute flick though not up to Stanley's better works.

Bonus Scene: Around The World In Seven Days: Julia Ann, the attractive gal on the front cover now sporting dark hair, was up first in a scene centering on a French kitchen with Ian Scott. She was in a black and white striped outfit that hugged her curves nicely and he was dressed up like a chef. Neither of them kept their clothing on for long and the relative lack of vocals compared to the music was slightly annoying but the music was at least fitting to the theme as he ate her out and she slobbed his knob in return. There wasn't much to the scene than a few positions and the lighting made the colors too saturated but she did look good and the ending pop shot, while minimal, wasn't too badly placed.

Summary: Rapture In Blue by director David Stanley for Wicked Pictures was not one of his best efforts to date but it was good enough to warrant a rating of Rent It from this reviewer. I like Julia Ann a lot and the other ladies were certainly skilled at what they were allowed to do but the amounts of fuck for the buck and strokability were hampered here for various reasons so the outcome was largely predictable. Still, as a showcase for Julia Ann's acting chops, Rapture In Blue wasn't a bad little fuck flick, even if not what I sense David was shooting for by his comments on the BTS.
