Extra's: I described it below but I like new extras that are geared towards the release in hand so I enjoyed the 18:41 minute long Behind the Scene feature by Jax (edited once again by Jef) more but I prefer unique extras in my movies more than most. There was more sex, nudity, and short interviews as Jax meandered around the sets of the flick, talking with cast and crew, spending a lot of time getting the inside scoop from director Randy Spears. There were also the usual photogalleries (7) and 3 Star Stats, the 2007 Promotional Reel, spam, DVD Catalog of Wicked Pictures titles, the usual DVD ROM material, and trailers to movies like Julia Ann Hardcore, Mobster's Ball, Gossip, Around the World In Seven Days, Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre, and Rapture In Blue. There was also a cardboard protective sleeve on the DVD case and a double sided cover for those who care.

Audio/Video Quality: Touched was presented in an appealing 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Randy Spears for Wicked Pictures (with Francois Closot on camera as director of photography). While filmed in high definition, it was down converted to a regular DVD (in the future, the HD version should look even better, much like the recent re-release of Cuddly Pines or Curse Eternal), so there was some minor grain in some of the scenes where lighting was minimized as part of the scene. The good news is that even in the dark night scenes, the visual elements were well handled, providing a lot more quality than most studios are capable of handling. The video noise was minimal and the composition of the scenes was extremely well taken care of (though at around 5 Mbps), enhancing the look of the ladies in nearly all cases. The audio was presented with numerous choices, the primary one being a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English track (in 384 Kbps) that balanced the vocals and music nicely. There was also a 2.0 Dolby Digital track in Spanish available for those who care but the fact is that the dubbing seemed humorous to me. Otherwise, the audio seemed to be another step in the right direction for Wicked Pictures, even though the vocals were almost certainly recorded in monaural or dubbed in later (not to mention limited in scope). Still, the music was well done and the overall quality of the audio was slightly better than average as well.

Body of Review: Randy Spears has been an icon in porn for so long that I have long taken him for granted as a staple in the industry. His work on both sides of the camera have drawn accolades with his recent directing for Wicked Pictures showing he has potential to continue his career behind the camera if that is what he decides to do. His latest work for the company was a showcase for the talents of both himself and Julia Ann; each in leading roles of a drama called Touched, where his ability to heal the sick goes far beyond his medical talents (ala: Phenomenon and other mainstream movies). While some of the dialogue was stilted and the theme was preachy, it was a cute little effort on the part of those involved, showing Randy's growing talents at telling a story that uses sex as an integral part of the show without the tacked on nature so many features appear to have these days. The back cover said it like this: "Physician Chad Evers (Randy Spears) has a secret he must keep from the world. He has the ability to heal with a simple touch. Torn between his need to help humanity and the understanding that he cannot heal the world, he hides behind his profession. But after Dr. Evers heals Sarah Blacks' (Julia Ann) mother, she quickly suspects that there's more than meets the eye. After medical school she becomes an intern at the hospital and in her quest for truth, she discovers a love for the gifted doctor. Now she too has the burden of his great truth. The truth is he can heal everyone but himself." If you are still interested, here is a brief look at the sex scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used and the plotted points were a bit rushed:

Scene One: Mikayla, a cute brunette with long hair and nice curves, was up first in the storeroom with Tommy Gunn. They had to make it a quickie since the Chief of Staff was on the lookout for unprofessional behavior; Mikayla dropping to her knees to blow the muscular stud with some titty fuck action as a bonus. He gave her a taste or two but the scene soon switched to the couple screwing in the darkened room, her over the top moaning a bit distracting as the 70's funky styled porn music droned on in the background. She was a moderately active cock rider and the sweaty couple seemed to look good together even if they had little chemistry for most of the scene. It ended when he tore off his rubber and rubbed out a small load of population pudding on her fine ass.

Scene Two: Lindsay Meadows, Gianna Lynn, Eric Masterson, and Barrett Blade, were up next in a mini-orgy on a living room couch. While I was still wondering how "six months later" (per the screen caption) translated into "a few years ago" (the dialogue about the time frame from when Randy saved Julia's mother), the two couples went to working each other over like high school teenagers. There was a kind of urgency in the darkened room, the ladies acting as though they were trying to ingratiate themselves with real doctors as the kind of "catches" that some women look for. They were all petting as the women went from jerking them off to blowing them aggressively, working the meat pipes as though genetically altered to do so with great efficiency and speed. I thought Lindsay looked better here but each gave up the mouth nearly as well as the other. This carried on for awhile and ended when the men jerked off onto the ladies' mouths, the gals kissing at the end though stopping just short of cumswapping.

Scene Three: Mindy Main, a really cute brunette that has been getting popular of late, was up next as a worker in the hospital that was a bit apprehensive about an afternoon bout with Tommy Gunn in the office. He worked all his mac daddy lines on her and got her to slob his knob for "a minute", this translating into a lot longer as he reciprocated on her cookie as she made loud noises on the desk. By the time he finished going down on her, she was begging for him to fuck her, the two bumping uglies in a few positions before the vaginal sex ended with the expected facial. I wasn't keen on her implants but she was an active rider and otherwise seemed to be very skilled at her career.

Scene Four: Julia Ann, the hotty featured on the front cover, was up next with curvy Demi Delia (Randy's significant other in real life from what I understand) on the couch. The two gals played lovers getting "one for the road" in bed as they stroked each other seductively. They wore similar lingerie (bra, panties, and garters) and they kissed like they were getting into it for real instead of the usual porn fashion. The oral and other lesbian antics were not the over the top kind so often found in a porno too; making it seem more fitting in the movie as tied into the plot. My biggest concern was how the scene was lit by candles, providing far too little light to capture the scene as modern porn is "supposed" to (in my world, I like to clearly see what is happening). I know the darkness covers up some of the age related issues but my personal preference is to see it all so while it was a decent scene, it could have been better.

Scene Five: Julia Ann, wearing a sexy bra & panty combo in bed, was up last with hairy Randy Spears as he lowered the boom on her about his condition. The dynamic was that she was supposed to make love to him like it was for the first time, the couple embracing tenderly but also showing some raw edge as they nibbled, teased, and savored each other orally for all they were worth. This was actually the kind of couples flavored scene that Wicked Pictures directors excel at since it relies more on chemistry than sexual athleticism; the vaginal screwing with the chest pop ending the heated pairing just swell. It seemed short to me but upon timing it, I got the impression that I lost track of time rather than the scene being too short; a good sign that it was properly timed and edited.

Bonus Scene: Rapture In Blue: Julia Ann, still inside of her dream wearing her gown, was up last in a darkened room with Randy Spears as the two came to grips with their past. The romantic moment of self exposition was okay but kind of clumsy in terms of the themes presented, working a bit only due to the acting skills of the pair. They were then in bed with a funny nod to the opening scene, the couple going at it with more passion than they had in their previous scenes here. She was an active cock rider this time and it ended with some oral and facial work before he finished her off with his tongue (spitting on it to make sure you'll be happy). It was a cute ending to a short but cute flick though not up to Stanley's better works.

Summary: Touched by director Randy Spears for Wicked Pictures was a title that fit in nicely with the type of smaller movies the company makes by all of its directors. To really shine, it should have had someone go over the dialogue a few more times, adjusting it to come across as more polished up but it was worthy of being Recommended for the audience the company tends to cater their efforts towards. The sex itself was not the kind you will find in gonzo extreme-fests but it showed a tender side that couples and those who aren't completely jaded should find appealing. In short, despite some minor issues that critics may find with the movie or its components, Touched showed some improvement by Randy as a director and gave Julia Ann a better showcase title than she has had in a long time (at least in terms of features).
