Extra's: The best extra was the 20:00 minute Behind the Scenes feature by lovely Tina Tyler. I like that she had an active role in the making the movie since her creative touches have long helped make a difference on various projects though this time, she was limited largely by the format. By that, I mean that the BTS was primarily a look at the photoshoots on the set but there were some cute observations to be found if you watch and listen closely enough during the minimal interviews. The other extras were minimal this time with a photogallery, a fetish menu, trailers to shows like Climaxxx TV, Black Reign, Lex Steele XXX, Silverback Attack, Ironhead, Manhammer, Top Guns, Superwhores, and Nasty Universe, and a second side to the DVD cover full of other covers.

Audio/Video Quality: Black Reign 10 was presented in a 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Lexington Steele for Mercenary Pictures. The lighting was decent but not great, eliminating much of the grain and video noise that some of the older works from the company were known for. The composition of the shots was decent and tended to enhance the look of the ladies most of the time; the crew working the camera most of the time was properly credited as Tina Tyler, Lex himself, and Mario Rossi. There were a few bits here and there that needed polishing up but it was well done overall. There were no compression artifacts and any edge enhancement wasn't noticed when I watched the flick; probably thanks in part to the bitrate initially hovering around the 7 Mbps range (though this varied greatly). The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English (using a 192 Kbps bitrate) with no separation between the channels and kind of limited music added in after the fact. The vocals were also a bit unbalanced as there were times when you couldn't hear them well at all and other times when they were as plain as day but as a fairly polished title by the seasoned veteran performer turned director (who was also working as a performer in 60% of the scenes), it wasn't as bad as some have claimed online.

Body of Review: Lexington Steele made his mark on the porn industry long before establishing Mercenary Pictures but his influence is still carrying him forward as the CEO provides some of the best urban porn on the market. That doesn't mean he sacrifices raw energy for polished technical values or focuses on the flavor of the month types the other companies seem to be constantly chasing, just making his appeal readily apparent for those of us wanting something different at times. The most recent title of his to make it my way is Black Reign 10, a series I last saw years ago with Black Reign 6. The series is best known as an urban showcase for women of color, typically showing curvy women with solid skills rather than overshot gals of limited appeal. That said, here's a quick look at the five scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Chavon Taylor and Alicia Tyler, both light skinned women wearing appealing lingerie, were up first as they received a lesson in playing pool from the man with a plan, Lexington Steele. They were physically appealing and showed a lot of energy, made easier by the fact that the men were all top notch talent and not the parolee types lesser companies feel obligated to employ (saving money in penny pinching fashion). The technical values were well handled for the most part and Black Reign 10, like Black Reign 6 before it, was well worth a walk on the darker side of porn for those of you that enjoy seeing black ladies having a great time.
