Extra's: The best extra was the 19:47 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Wayne Hentai and Tina Tyler. Most of the cast were given the spotlight at least a little bit, with some getting more time than others, as the feature provided some interviews, more sex, and a bit of additional nudity from the scenes that fans will enjoy watching. Tina was plainly in charge of the set, showing that she was indeed the director and not just a name on the box cover, offering up ideas to make the scenes look better as the performers looked to her for guidance. There were also some fetish menus, seven trailers to shows like Climaxxx TV, Black Reign, Lex Steele XXX, Silverback Attack, Ironhead, Manhammer, Top Guns, Superwhores, and Nasty Universe; a photogallery, and a double sided DVD cover (though the second side only had other covers).

Audio/Video Quality: Fresh Out The Box 6 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Tina Tyler for release by Mercenary Pictures (though the scenes started off with a black & white letterboxed approach, they soon fell back into full frame). The lighting was flat and plentiful so the grain and video noise weren't issues here. Some of the compositional matters were only fair but in most of the scenes, she did just fine as she tried to balance the close ups against the medium shots that look better on this type of show. There weren't any compression artifacts and I thought the visual appeal was among the best of the series to date (it seems to get better each time in most ways, even with a change in directors). For those who claim that Tina is just a name placed on the credits rather than the "real" director, it should be noted that she was heard and seen in the mirror as holding the camera and directing the action when needed. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English (using a 192 Kbps bitrate). There was a fair amount of generic music in the background but it never dominated the vocals and sounds of sex so it worked out fairly well, even without any separation and a very limited dynamic range.

Body of Review: Tina Tyler has been around porn now for years in various capacities, starting off as a performer and moving behind the camera over time. Her works have shown some promise as a director at Mercenary Pictures though I'd be misleading you to say she is their most consistent director in terms of technical skills or ability to bring out the raw heat of marginal performers. Still, she often adds some extra spark to her work that outsiders don't always understand so I picked up an older release of hers, Fresh Out The Box 6, for review this week. Like Fresh Out The Box 5, the dynamic of the five scenes was to showcase new gals that have only made a limited amount of scenes in porn; the gals having many of the rough edges that seasoned gals do not routinely display. I prefer women that show they like their work and whom they are working with more than brand new gals so you will have to adjust your personal ratings more actively than usual when reading reviews of this kind of thing but there was some likable stuff here too. If this sounds interesting to you, here is a quick look at the five scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Renae Cruz, a curvy 19 year old Latina, was up first giving an interview with Tina on the couch before showing she was no stranger to cock with Brian Pumper and Maui Kane. She suck started their hearts by alternating between them while her pink bikini outfit barely held her assets in check. Her energetic performance was much like some of her more recent work; the gal passionately working them into her mouth before they took turns with her pussy. She was mostly passive during the vaginal boning though her potential for active riding was displayed nicely once she was on top, the gal continually going back to oral as her blowjobs were her biggest strength. The scene eventually ended with the guys rubbing out loads of population pudding to her face, the gal appealing to me more than a little as a newcomer thanks primarily to her oral skills.

Scene Two: Jackie Brown, an 18 year old black gal with nice DSL's and a lean figure, was up next with Mario Rossi as the man savored the chance to work with someone less than half his age. She was dressed up in pink & black lingerie as he went down on her, the gal taking a disaffected stance towards his efforts on the couch (she kept looking at the camera like a deer in the headlights). Her own oral talents were fair as she showed some mechanical aptitude that lacked the finesse of a seasoned professional but it was clear that she was no stranger to cock in her mouth either. The oral was a mainstay of the scene since her passive vaginal technique only became active when she was on top. She was another one with untapped potential but both of the partners seemed to think giving over the top vocals was the best way to convince the audience that they were having fun (there was little chemistry between them but I did get the impression they were enjoying the action). Rather than end with a facial, Mario busted a nut on her rounded ass cheeks, showing it had been awhile since his last scene.

Scene Three: Jaylyn Rose, a chunky blonde white gal that reminded me of a stripper in decline, was up next on the couch with Lexington Steele and Marco Banderas/Duato after the briefest of interviews. I don't remember seeing her work before though she was built like a MILF that had pumped out several (or more) puppies in her day. The men pawed her a little but she was strictly business as she took turns engulfing their rods like someone with a lot less experience than the other gals to this point in the movie. The men guided her through the motions as her loose ass jiggled while bouncing on Lex and sucking Marco; the lady barely making the slightest of facial expressions as she continued her quest for fame and fortune. I'd have done her for a drink at closing time but given the ease with which she impaled herself on Lex, I get the impression that neither of us would feel any friction. I did appreciate that she became substantially more aggressive towards the end of the penetrative scene but she came across as putting up with the men rather than enjoying the scene, probably why she faded out of porn in the first place. The resulting pop shots at the end were directed at her ass and chest, her cumdodging status evident right to the end.

Scene Four: Jayden James, the 20 year old gal on the front cover, was up next in her third scene in porn, marking her first interracial with Lexington Steele as the two boned on a red couch. She had pretty eyes and strong legs (with a large birthmark on her thigh); the scene allowing her to tease a little before Lex walked in to cozy up to the gal to try and establish a rapport with her. They took it slow and I got the impression that she wanted to work with him, her implants drawing his attention the most. In terms of technical skill, she really wasn't all that great with her blowjob skills lacking and her largely passive vaginal abilities holding her back. In some ways, she struck me as minted for contract status or escort work but I admit that I liked the shape of her booty a whole lot. She used her breasts fairly well for a brief titty fuck too but a lot more could have been done with them if you know what I mean. Lex took care of business as usual though and it was a fair scene showing the newcomer work ethic; proving what I've long believed in that newcomers are not the best performers. The scene ended with Lex blowing out a huge load to her face, coating her like a glazed donut.

Scene Five: Leilani Lovitt, a 19 year old light skinned black gal brand new to porn, was up last as she sucked off Brian Pumper and Maui Kane in the living room. Of all the gals in the movie, she struck me as the most fluid in how she worked their meat pipes, telling me she had a lot more experience than they did even if not formally in porn flicks. The good side is that this was more appealing to me but the flip side of the equation is that she didn't seem like a newcomer so your mileage may vary more than ever with her. They took turns screwing her, with Maui commenting that whatever Brian was doing "down there" (vaginally penetrating her) was making her get even more enthusiastic as she slobbed his knob, something I couldn't see by the way the camera caught the action. The men took turns screwing her and getting head, ending the action with a butt shot and a facial as the men split up their loads.

Summary: Fresh Out The Box 6 by director Tina Tyler for release by Mercenary Pictures was a fair outing by the director that offered modest amounts of fuck for the buck, replayability and stroke factor so I rated it as a Rent It. A few gals showed lots of potential and promise but on average, even the best of them openly displayed too many flaws that held them back. In short, Fresh Out The Box 6, like Fresh Out The Box 5, will appeal mainly to those of you wanting to see unknown performers take their (failed) shot at generating a porn career more than the rest of us. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good an effort as Tina has been known to make when really applying herself.
