Extra's: For many of you, the completely unrelated bonus scenes from Dumb Blonde, Emperor, The Return of Tori Welles, Kayden's First Time, and Wet Nurse will be the best extras. They were not the best such scenes ever offered on a Vivid DVD but did add some value for me so you might enjoy them too. There were also trailers to Debbie Does Dallas Again, Tease Me, Cherry Bomb, and Flasher, as well as a biography for hotty Sunrise Adams, a photogallery, some spam, and a positions room too. For me though, the best extra was the 16:14 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Graham Crack Herr. It started off with the main dialog scene of the gals in a round robin discussion, soon having them flub their lines. The BTS then went all over the place with some gals getting little scene time and Sunrise closing it out by discussing her plans for the future.

Audio/Video Quality: Sex Addict was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was reasonably well handled but some of the scenes appeared to be over saturated and dark with others grainier than normal but much like some of the director's older flicks from a year or so ago that I liked so much. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were not as accurate this time but the DVD mastering was well done (if in a bitrate hovering around 4 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow is currently one of the most proven directors at Vivid Entertainment, providing something more than assembly line porn at a time when features appear to be making a small comeback. His best works tend to be those that focus more on a theme and a particular performer (usually Lanny Barby being the best) with the writing taking the back seat more than your typical gonzo. His latest movie for the company is Sex Addict, a story showcasing Sunrise Adams as she continues her comeback into porn after a moderate respite that some thought was a true retirement. The minimal story centers on the hotty as a nymphomaniac seeking therapeutic assistance in the form of a group therapy session, the resulting ending predictable immediately as she walked in on the group. Still, the lengthy movie showed some solid sex, an attractive cast of ladies, and will work for many of you better than the lower budget fare they tend to provide these days when not engaged in their yearly blockbusters. Here is what they said on the back cover: "Ultra hot. Sizzling. She's back and on fire. Sunrise's a sex addict telling her group therapy gang about why she left porn and why she got back in! By the time she's done, everyone's off the pussy wagon and back on the stick in Sex Addict, the return of a superstar. If you hit bottom, pray it's in her pants." A single condom was used in one scene but otherwise couples and hardcore enthusiasts alike will find a lot to enjoy here, albeit not as much as a gonzo if all you want is sex. Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action for those still interested, noting that Sunrise did a better job than many thought she would here:

Scene One: Caught Cheating: Cassie Young, a moderately curvy blonde with a lean body, was up first on the couch with Kurt Lockwood. She was in performance mode, showing no chemistry or heat but still making due as the guy felt her up and went down on her. She sat on his face as if to say what she thought of his skills and then started reciprocating with an enthusiastic hummer, embracing her established love of cock in a playful manner while he lounged around; paying attention to him as though he were the only thing she cared about. She then actively rode him until unable due to positional limitations, his cock hard enough to continue the scene if not exactly what most would prefer seeing work her over. There were some rough edges to the act too as he tried to coax her into a titty fuck without saying so, resulting in her looking at him like she didn't know what he wanted, but she did manage to keep the energy levels high although it was a shame one of the other men was not able to give her what she wanted in a more capable manner. The modest load of population pudding went to her face and mouth, the gal rubbing the remains into her chest before giving him some post coital sucking.

Scene Two: Doctors & Nurses: Penny Flame, playing a medical assistant, and patient Sunrise Adams (the featured hotty on the front cover), were up next in the examination room with doctor Mike Striker. His exam checked her out quite thoroughly, the nymphomaniac enjoying his attention as he probed her labia (though I would have liked to see her in stirrups even more). Moments after fingering her, he was eating at the Y and the trio was all getting undressed, Penny joining in on the fun when the procedure went from the standard exam to the more thorough one. Penny was first to ride the cock and I was surprised to see a condom employed here but she was aggressively impaling herself on the pole while Sunrise felt her up. Scene Three: Soft Pedals: Lisa Daniels, a busty gal with a bad attitude towards men, was up next in a lesbian scene with lovely Sunrise Adams as the two engaged in some floral work. After a minimal setup that included a few peek shots, the gals showed a propensity to appreciate the tulip more than any other flower, my hope that they spent some time on rosebuds increasing as the scene progressed. Sunrise went down on Lisa first, the role playing showing the seductive nymphomaniac a capable actress before the rest of their clothing came off and a large toy came out for them to work with. The red double headed dildo was inserted into both of them at the same time, the fake porn screaming weakening the scene with Lisa not showing nearly as much aptitude for girly love as Sunrise, who donned a strap on dildo (two scenes too late from the looks of it) to continue pounding her new pal. With minimal dialog between scenes, the pacing continued to show each scene getting nearly a half hour for those who care.

Scene Four: Video Nasty: Harmony, playing a cute, laidback therapist needing to "test" Marco Duato/Banderas, was up next on a couch as she gave him a lapdance while he pawed her slowly. The tease portion could have lasted longer but the curvy lass had a nice shape (she has maintained it well over her career) and I can't blame the muscular stud for wanting more from her. The chemistry between them was obvious (or she needs to teach acting to her peers) and the sexual action progressed naturally and seamlessly into her slobbing his knob with energy as he held her hair. This lasted a long time before she actively rode his cock with some intermittent PTM in numerous positions, the enthusiasm between both of them really well played until the anal action slowed them down substantially. It wasn't that she did not appear to like the anal but she did little of the work here as the bareback bandit boned her bowels boldly (say that five times fast). The scene ended when he jerked out the wad to her face, some ATM action noted if not for her enthusiasm than for her willingness to take on the meat pipe covered in ass juice and semen better than most.

Scene Five: Radical Therapy: Jana Foxy, Marlie Moore, Sunrise Adams, and Mike Striker, were up last as the group therapy session reverted to form as the quartet of sexual addicts kicked Gene out and played to their collective strengths in the warehouse of a room. The camcorder used to capture the three gals masturbating was soon full of images where the trio of twat tantalized each other, starting off as a lesbian encounter but soon including Mike in on the action. The rubbing, massaging, fingering, and toy play was pretty good and a split screen effect was employed to show Sunrise breaking away from her two pals to give Mike a POV hummer with some style. The scene moved away from that effect and the point of view action in order to capture her riding his cock but it was still a lot of fun for me, albeit not as full of replay value as possible but showing Sunrise's sweaty body to nice effect all the same. It would have been nice for all three ladies to get some cock too but at this time, that wasn't going to happen for all the obvious reasons (though the audio track could have excised the background noises better). Sunrise finished him off with a handjob that showed him pouring out a large load, the gal cleaning him up to taste the spew as though she wanted to do so.

Summary: Sex Addict by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment had some built in limitations but was clearly worthy of being Recommended for the amounts of stroke value, replayability, and fuck for the buck. This is a "must have" for Sunrise Adams fans and the limited amount of dialog will not get in the way for those of you that hate features. In short, director B. Skow proved that Sex Addict might not be completely addictive but it provided a solid platform for Sunrise to continue her comeback into porn. The technical matters and extras were a bit rushed but in overall terms, it was an enjoyable outing.
