Extras: The extras were actually good enough to save the release for me, something fairly uncommon these days, as I raised my rating to recommended because of them. Starting off with 87:42 minutes of interviews by “Bear”, a number of ladies were thrust into the spotlight, starting with Roxy. Learning tidbits of the ladies in their weak biographies was greatly enhanced here, mainly relating to their participation in the movie itself with a few giving some tease. The 21:08 minute long Behind the Scenes feature showed more photoshoot material than anything else, with scant evidence that Devinn was involved in the show at all. There was a photogallery, some trailers, spam, and a cardboard slipcase for those who care too.

Audio/Video Quality: No Man’s Land: Girlbang was presented in an anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1 ratio offering as credited to director Devinn Lane for distribution by Metro Interactive having been shot for Video Team. The credits listed Devinn all over the place but if she spoke during the production (be it the extras or the movie where men could be heard easily and frequently giving directions), I missed it so you can draw your own conclusions. In all her other movies, she was quite vocal about taking an active hand in all phases of production so my guess was that Anton was the guy in charge here. That said, the lighting was almost universally flat in the main portion of the orgy with some shadows in evidence in the two separate sections where the limited few had additional sex. There was little grain and the bitrate hovered in the mid 5 Mbps range much of the time; getting higher or lower depending on the circumstance. I saw no artifacts or major flaws with the picture but the tint was slightly off; perhaps intentionally on the part of the director. The editing and sweeping camera shots left something to be desired by me though I would not say they sucked donkey balls; just displayed some weaknesses that should not have been there. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps process. The vocals were slightly hollow, with no separation between the channels but no artistic efforts made toward the music either. In essence, it was a generic audio track that did nothing to help or majorly hurt the movie.

Body of Review: Devinn Lane has been around porn since the last millennia, starting her career as a gal that only did other women. She broke her onscreen cherry with the mighty Evan Stone in a title she herself directed, though it was apparent to almost everyone that she still preferred the touch of another woman. Having been removed from another company as director, she recently was reported to have found her works distributed by Metro Interactive while working for Video Team; a far cry from the land of Wicked Pictures where she made her name. Metro is very lesbian friendly though, one of their biggest recent efforts titled Babes Illustrated 16, so it looked like she would fit right in. Her first movie under the distribution deal is No Man’s Land: Girlbang: 2 Disc Set, continuing the tradition of one of the longest running lesbian series of all porn. This time, the focal point of the movie was Jenna Haze getting ravished by a bunch of women, set up in orgy fashion but not quite like most directors would provide. The back of the cover said it like this: “Jenna Haze is a girl who can't get enough... she wants as many hot girls as possible and she'd like them all at the time! No Man's Land Productions introduces a new word to the porn dictionary... Girlbang! Watch in delight as an orgy unfolds treating you to a close-up view of luscious ladies kissing probing fingers lesbian licking and non-stop female orgasms. Starring AVN award winner Jenna Haze and her 20 girlfriends!” If that sounds interesting to you, here is a general overview of the movie, noting that no population pudding or condoms were seen:

Okay, much like the now infamous Jenna Haze Oil Orgy, the show started off with Jenna getting a short interview in her skimpy undies before she joined the larger crowd of gash in the living room setting. The dynamic of the show was simple; small groups of ladies would leave to separate bedrooms intermittently with the larger group still going at it (albeit in smaller pairings) as edited into one another. There was little continuity to this approach since the first group, led by Eva Angelina and Audrey Bitoni, could still be seen on the couch even as they were cut to repeatedly; perhaps figuring that no one would notice. The distraction capabilities of the cast aside, it was too openly plain to see what was going on and the use of Joanna Angel going down on Jenna (with help by Sammie on the large ottoman) might have worked this scam better had they stuck to the extreme close ups.

The later pairing between Roxy DeVille and Avy Lee Roth in another room, smearing lipstick on breasts and getting each other off in a 69 that had then sucking on clitoris like it was cock was nicely done but the bouncing back and forth was troublesome since it distracted me from the heat the couple generated. The body at large showed the limitations of the camera as gals filtered in and out of the main stage (the ottoman) to do Jenna; all the footage heated but put together in a clumsy fashion. The same held true when Candy took her two pals off to the side room for some fun; there was no need to do so as the groups were all around the main room. Always finding the camera going back to Jenna getting eaten (or eating someone else) on her stated place, the amount of toy use was minimal until about 90 minutes of the movie were up; then they became the focal point of the show with ladies yelling out in false porn style at their enjoyment. The crew of gals seemed to come in closer for this part of the movie too, some anal taking place but not all that much.

See, once the toy use began in earnest, most of the gals sat passively on the couch and watched Jenna getting plugged, telling her what to do in a series of catcalls. The pacing was lame and many gals, like Sunny Lane or Alana Evans for example, were so under utilized that I started mocking them with my gal pal beside me. The movie could have been a real winner given such a cast but as it was, I felt obligated to lower my evaluation to a rental status pending my look at the second disc of extras that came in the package. The fact that it had replay value for fans of lesbian acts like myself was evident but this should have been so much more than just a group of gals licking each other on queue.

Summary: No Man’s Land: Girlbang by director Devinn Lane for distribution by Metro Interactive was far from her best work (if she really had anything to do with it) and I’ve enjoyed a number of the series by other directors more in the past but the replay value enhanced by the extras made it a qualified Recommended for me (subject to change). I liked the casting since it had some great gals ready to rumble and I thought the way the ladies could get small groups into smaller settings seemed like a nice way to add something, but the execution of the idea left much to be desired. Had there been multiple angles that allowed a fan to stay with a section of the main room or kept the side scenes together without editing; it would have helped but too many of the ladies simply had too little to do. Wasting talent when you are advertising such large numbers of ladies is worse than having a smaller cast (and I counted 20 altogether, not 21 as advertised but I could have messed up given the tantalizing twat present). In short, check out No Man’s Land: Girlbang: 2 Disc Set as well as Babes Illustrated 16 in order to get an idea what I’m talking about in terms of their relative strengths and weaknesses but consider borrowing copies first.
