Extras: The first disc of the double disc set had an informative cast list and list of the second disc contents (with a few websites listed) but that was it; reserving most of the space on the disc for the movie itself. The second disc had a lot more going for it, led primarily by the bonus scene from Anal Expedition 5 that I described below in detail. I really liked the 21:00 minute long Behind the Scenes feature too as it had the ladies giving anecdotes, extra nudity, and some photoshoot footage. There was also a photogallery, a cumshot recap, some limited filmographies, and a very nice 50:08 minute long series of Photoshoots of the ladies that I really liked a lot given the strength & diversity of the cast. The second disc also had some other features like 6 trailers for movies like Slutty & Sluttier 4, Fucked On Sight 2, Slutty & Sluttier 3, Anal Expedition 11, Evilution 1, Evilution 2, New Whores on the Block 2, New Whores on the Block 1, Evil Anal, Evil Anal 2, Evil Anal 3.

Audio/Video Quality: Bangin’ Black Boxes was presented in 1.78:1 ratio letterboxed color as shot for DVD by director Manuel Ferrara for Evil Angel. I would’ve greatly preferred the movie to be in anamorphic widescreen (the process adds a lot of detail to the picture on widescreen televisions) but that trend still hasn’t hit all of Evil Angel yet so I’ll just have to extol the virtues of the process on movies released by their competition until they get with the program. I’ve noticed that Manuel’s work for the company simply hasn’t been as crystal clear as some of his work elsewhere and this was one more such case. The colors were overly saturated in most cases and the fleshtones reflected this issue, but the lighting was not the best this time; making the picture look decent but not nearly as good as some of his older work or his best works at Evil Angel. Lighting varied by the scenes and was spottier than previous efforts but still seemed to convey the sense of raw energy fairly well, most scenes taking on a saturated or yellow tinted look that could probably be easily fixed in post production with the right crew. The amount of grain and video noise were low to moderate as a result so while it wasn't the best I've seen from Manuel (not even close in fact), it was better than some gonzo productions by weaker directors in the field. There were a few compression artifacts noticed during the scenes but the strength of the visuals was how the composition of the shots almost always enhanced the looks or perceived passion of the scenes; usually hovering in the lower 2 Mbps range. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps) with minimal separation between the channels and a standard dynamic range, making it nothing special in this sense but not bad either.

Body of Review: Manuel Ferrara has been one of the best directors distributed by Evil Angel in recent times, largely because of his ability to connect with the ladies and bring out their inner slut better than most others. He gets them to do things for him that his peers have to pay extra for, the difference between the dynamics clear in most cases (paying them versus them wanting to try stretching their limits). Well, he has tried his hand at a lot of niches and wanted to do some interracial with black women doing white men (different than movies like Racial Violations 2 and Jack in the Ass where black men did white women) and came up with the double disc set of Bangin’ Black Boxes: Special Extended Set; a series of five new scenes and a whole disc full of solid extras like a bonus scene from the old days when he worked at RLD. Manuel took part in most of the scenes and the ladies were always either very physically attractive or at very least sexually skilled, a diverse style of casting as few beside Manuel seem willing to try these days. If you think this sounds as good to you as it did to me, here’s a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were employed:

Scene One: Sinnamon Love, a curvy cutie was an ample sample of an ass, was up first as she was bent over on the middle of the floor with her ass in the air. Summary: Bangin’ Black Boxes by director Manuel Ferrara for Evil Angel had a wealth of extras adding value to the already appealing scenes but the visual aspects of the movie forced me to drop the rating down a full grade to settle on considering this one as worthy of being Recommended. The dark settings did little to assist in making the ladies look their best for the camera and the inherent issues involved in the way the colors seemed so saturated dragged it down a bit for me but the raw energy and quality of black coochy almost made up for it; so there was replay and strokability beyond what I expected when I picked up my copy. In short, Bangin’ Black Boxes: Special Extended Set was a winner that was in need of technical aspects being polished up, an area Manuel has been slacking off on but the totality of the circumstance still meriting picking up a copy if you like the genre.
