Extras: The best extra by far for me was the 54:42 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by “Spud” (a young Voodoo?) since it had a tremendous amount of footage serving as a time capsule for Jenna in her prime but also the rest of the cast as well. Chi Chi’s wild yelling & directing were captured in amusing fashion and there was a whole lot of sexual footage included here to augment the stroke value of the DVD. There was then 60:49 minutes of bonus scenes from movies including Coming From Behind, Emotions, It’s Not You, Last Girl Standing, and Shy; and trailers to Pay or Play, My Big Fake Wedding, Pipe Dreams, and Love Life; a short text biography for Jenna Jameson, a photogallery, some spam (including some at the front of the DVD you can skip, and a handy slipcase that looked like the cover.

Audio/Video Quality: Jenna’s Gallery Blue was presented in the original 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in back in 2002 by director Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment. The vignettes that made up the movie all had their own look to them but the general trend here was to have saturated colors, lighting effects, and a frantic type of camera in many parts of the scenes; all of which lowered the visual appeal for me. The action was generally captured well enough to see what hole was getting hammered at any given time and it was clear that the director was experimenting with some tricks along the way (especially if you watch the lengthy behind the scenes feature that lasts almost an hour) so your own strokability will depend on your threshold for such material too. The composition of the camera angles was not always optimal for the ladies and the bitrate hovered around the lower 3 Mbps range so there were some compression artifacts and other minor issues but the sexual tension of most scenes did add something less tangible in terms of the visual elements too. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English with the standard 192 Kbps bitrate but there did not appear to be any separation between the channels and the dynamic range was quite limited even if I could hear all the vocals in the movie. The generic music was largely appropriate to the specific scenes though so it could have been a lot worse.

Body of Review: Jenna Jameson may not be universally loved by all the varied people in the porn industry but it is difficult to completely envision exactly how deep her influence over the years was considering her ties to mainstream and the sheer fact that she was the most recognizable cross over gal, bar none, for a very long time. Even today, the mention of her first name is enough to stir the loins and excite the masses, so even in her semi-retired state of mind, her previously shot scenes draw a lot of attention. The latest title with a couple of previously unreleased Jenna scenes was shot by director Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment way back in 2002; the movie called Jenna’s Gallery Blue. Essentially, the title was a selection of five unrelated vignettes tied together by Jenna in a Rod Serling type of role but only very loosely. The back cover explained it like this: “For your consideration....Jenna Jameson....gorgeous...standing in a black room with black windows...a black void if you will....witnessing a surreal gallery of pure sexual debauchery, including her own long-awaited reunion with Vivid superstar Cassidey. Jenna's Gallery Blue. Where everything is a little left of center and nothing is ever quite what it seems. With the amazing Jenna in a rare, all-new feature role, beautiful Dru Berrymore, Cailey Taylor, Dee, Nicole Sheridan and more. You are traveling to another dimension...of sight...of sound...of Jenna. The signpost up ahead says...Jenna's Gallery Blue...” If you’re still interested, here’s a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that some condoms were used:

Scene One: Shadow Dancing: Jenna Jameson, the superstar featured on the front cover with brunette hair (shows when the picture was shot versus the scene), was up first as a stripper and the host of the vignette release as she danced behind an opaque screen while a youthful Cassidey masturbated on the couch. It wasn’t long before the pair hooked up, Jenna rubbing Cassidey’s perfect pucker and Cassidey moaning in pleasure as a result. They diddled each other as a warm up and then started tackling some oral loving, each giving as well as they received to an extent but Jenna was clearly dominant here. Scene Five: Sixties Swinging: Jenna Jameson, Dee, and Nicole Sheridan, were up last in a lesbian tryst on a bed supported by poles from the ceiling, giving it an Aladdin feel as if they were floating on air (Trading Spaces once had such a bed made in their show in fact). The brightly clothed hippy gals licked and fingered each other for all their garish make up and I hardly recognized the other two as they gave each other some modest amounts of gal pal fun. Face sitting, fingering, and none of the toys I expected ended the scene and the show both. It was far from Jenna’s best scene but as an unpolished (and unreleased) gem, I liked it enough to smile a time or two.

Summary: Jenna’s Gallery Blue by director Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment might not have been the best Jenna Jameson movie of the year and I can see why they sat on it for the very inconsistent quality of the vignettes but I’m reminded that a whole lot of people adore the famous performer and will want to see the movie just for a glimpse into her two scenes so I rated it as a Rent It. In short, Jenna’s Gallery Blue shouldn’t win any awards compared to the wealth of better titles by Jenna and Vivid that came out this year but loyal fans will at least be able to see what all the fuss is about as I did so give it a look (and it was amusing to see Dru bone him like she owned him with TJ; his transition to straight porn doing much better with that one in the vaults).
