As noted previously, John has long since surpassed the desire to show crystal clear visuals, preferring to focus his efforts on the kind of raw energy and rougher edged look that most of his peers only seem to fall into by mistake, though I'll be the first to admit I'd like his movies to revert back to a more traditional & well lit approach if at all possible. The levels of grain, video noise, and even pattern effects were okay this time and the action lost nothing due to minor flaws on the technical side (the movie was still hot but the bitrate typically hovered in under 3 Mbps and it showed). The composition of the camera angles showed some care put into them, making the ladies virtually always look their best, and this is the strength of John's directorial ability more than anything else (as a producer, he also tends to make fine selections of cast). The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio track (in 192 Kbps) was as basic as gonzo porn came be, with limited talking going on outside of John's own directions in the background. The cast could be heard moaning & groaning but this was definitely a limited selection based on audio quality.

Body of Review: John Leslie is one of the remaining legends in porn that hasn’t gone on to retirement gracefully, still showing he has what it takes to compete with his younger peers at Evil Angel in the movies he directs. I’ve watched the guy’s performances for the better part of 30 years, his directed flicks a quantum leap by comparison in many ways to his work in front of the camera. As much as I admire his better works though, some of his titles in recent years have been really hit or miss for me; taking the artistic approach further than my pecker cares to go on a regular basis. His latest DVD is Crack Her Jack 8, the sequel to Crack Her Jack 7 that I found on the weak side, a series that tends to show some nice ass but little special to recommend from my experience. Roxy and Chelsie’s scene was the top of the ladder here but depending on your tastes, some of the others showed some solid performances too. In short, Crack Her Jack 8 was a step up from Crack Her Jack 7 in most ways; not even close to the best work of the director but better than a lot of what you will find in the gonzo market if you aren’t huge on extensive tease and prefer a slightly artistic twist in your porn.
