The Movie:

There isn’t much of a story to DCypher’s The Sweet Spot but for those who won’t use the scene selection menu to get straight to the action, there is a fairly minute plot. Basically, there’s a club called, you guessed it, The Sweet Spot, where swinging couples can go to indulge their respective kinks. As we learn about the club we see, sometimes through flashbacks and sometimes through ‘here and now’ footage, five well performed sex scenes.

Scene 1 – Hillary Scott, Monica Sweetheart, Van Damage: Lucky guy Van is in the middle of a three way when this film starts. Monica is on her back getting fucked by Van while Hillary looks on. After a bit of that Hillary sucks his dick while Monica plays with Hillary’s goods from behind. Hillary climbs on top of Van and rides him reverse cowgirl style while Monica lets her tongue get some action by slurping away at the business zone. Monica gets on all fours and eats Hillary’s pussy out while Van fucks her from behind, then Hillary rides Van cowgirl style as Monica sits on his face. While the plot is completely inconsequential, the five scenes in this picture are all better than average, with the two involving Kimberly Kane really standing out. The emphasis here is on group sex so it’s best going in if you enjoy that type of action but regardless, everything is framed well and performers all look great and do their jobs with some pretty sincere smiles on their faces. Nothing here breaks any new ground but we are given a cast that is more attractive than usual and who deliver some quality performances – as such, The Sweet Spot is a better than average effort, one worth seeking out.

Note: Although the box art mentions the gorgeous Justine Joli and a few other actresses like Delilah Strong and Lux Kassidy, these ladies only have brief cameo roles – they are NOT featured in any of the sex scenes even if the back cover art makes it look like they are (a pretty blatant case of irritating false advertising, especially if, like this reviewer, you selected this one for the Justine Joli factor!).

The DVD

Video:

The Sweet Spot is presented in 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen though the interlaced transfer suffers from some heavy saw tooth artifacts any time someone moves unless you turn off your progressive scan option (a far too common problem with adult DVDs, sadly). As far as the transfer quality goes, it’s otherwise okay even if some grain is noticeable here and there. Colors look good and there aren’t any problems with compression artifacts to complain about. Some macro blocking shows up in the first scene and again sporadically throughout the picture but it isn’t constant.

Sound:

The English 2.0 Stereo track is fine and the soundtrack has some nice bounce to it. Dialogue is clear and easy to understand and levels are properly balanced.

Extras:

The only real extra feature on this disc is a behind the scenes segment (22:26) presented, like the feature, in anamorphic widescreen. Most of the ladies who appear in the film are interviewed on camera as are some of the crewmembers who worked on the picture. There isn’t much in the way of sex here though a nice little masturbatory surprise courtesy of one of the ladies is a nice treat.

Aside from that, there’s a still gallery, some cast biographies, some phone sex ads, a web link and some banners, and trailers for a few other Metro DVD releases.

Final Thoughts:

The transfer certainly could have been better and the extras are nothing to write home about but the five sex scenes that make up the majority of The Sweet Spot’s running time are rock solid. Recommended.
