Extra's: This being probably the premiere title of the year for the company, I expected a lot from it but aside from scores of trailers (14 of them), and a photogallery, the only extra worth a spit was the 17:28 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. It began with the ladies around a campfire discussing their anal exploits with a few short clips. This then went to another hilarious clip of Spyder feeling the heat from the ladies about the shooting conditions in the rain forest setting (even the crew chiming in to show what a hellish idea it was to do this, Lucy the most whiny of the bunch though considering her current living arrangements courtesy of the State of California, maybe a copy should go to her). I think it stressed the difficulties of what it takes to make such "pretty porn" happen, though I'd re-emphasize that Evan stick to the beaches in the future or move the shoots to locations slightly more accessible.

Audio/Video Quality: Teradise Island 2 was presented in a nice 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Spyder Jonez for Teravision to be released in this MPEG-2 encoded standard definition release. It was definitely an upgrade from the first volume in the series (that was shot at the same time) with accurate fleshtones, decent lighting, and markedly better editing this time. The camera work was similar but the editing enhanced it enough that the nearly two years between the volumes is almost understandable so my nod to those involved in this aspect of the production should be made loud and clear. The composition of the shots was not always optimal but Tera looked as good as expected and as my main interest in the movie, the way she was allowed to dominate the scenes made sense. The bitrate hovered around the mid 5 Mbps range as often as not and while it was less stylish than the works released by other companies, the lack of slow motion will be a major selling point to fans. There was some aliasing and occasional compression artifacts too but I only noticed them on my second viewing of the movie so more casual fans will probably miss the impairments altogether. The audio was presented in a standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English using 192 Kbps with the dominant aural aspect being a light musical score and the sound effects of the natural background. I prefer dirty talk and vocals but this is the standard for most similar efforts that have been around for a very long time so your mileage may vary. There did not appear to be any separation between the channels and the dynamic range was still limited on the aural components from the location shoots for those who care.

Body of Review: Tera Patrick has been a fixture in porn, albeit a very lovely fixture, for almost ten years now, her performance capabilities getting better with time. I briefly ran into her this January again and she looks better than ever though I've seen her output drop to almost retirement level since her last flick made it my way. Other than her great interactive title last year, Teradise Island 1 stands as her last big effort as the center piece of her recent career, a heavily flawed flick that tries to emulate her work for another company with slight modifications. Now that the second half of the adventure is available in the form of Teradise Island 2, a short erotica based release made way back in 2005 with the first part, I finally get to see some of the footage I longed for that was hinted at in the BTS of that earlier volume. I hate it when companies break shoots up like this and sit on footage for years but marketing a big name in the industry sometimes gives people the idea that less is more and if sales warrant the position, so be it. Like Teradise Island 1, Tera and her cast of former contract gals went on a safari to the exotic tropical paradises fans adore seeing them in; the crashing waves, waterfalls, and other visually stimulating aspects adding to the appeal of the cast. Though some promoted the first volume as a feature, it was better called a vignette or all sex release, the dialogue minimal as the cast enjoyed sex with each other. Director Spyder Jonez sure had his hands full with the technical side of things but this time, Teravision decided to go with an anamorphic look that appeared to add some detail on better equipped televisions, perhaps a sign of the forthcoming Blu-Ray version that will look even better. If you're still interested in what the scenes had going for them, here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Tera Patrick, the hotty featured on the front cover, was up first with blond Brittney Skye on a beach where they leaned against a nasty looking rock. The overcast sky looked almost surreal here with the camera work not quite getting it right but hungry Tera showing her previous aversion to lesbian sex a thing of the past. She fingered Brittney and once the music died down, their vocals helped make the scene reasonable as the waves smashed the beach and cove they were located in. Brittney was no slacker here when it came to eating out Tera either, lightly licking at the fringes as Tera squatted above her friend. Unlike some of the glamorous versions of beach sex, the pair got dirty from the dirt and running make up (mostly Brittney) but my only real complaint was that there did not appear to be a lot of chemistry between them, nor a whole lot of enthusiasm; even the strap on dildo coming out of nowhere without sufficient build up. Tera rode it more actively than she used to but she looked like she was holding back as well so the replay value was impacted a little for me but Tera did look most fetching.

Scene Two: Tera Patrick, in a black lingerie outfit, was up next with Jerry on a patio. I know people bag on her husband as being outgunned in his scenes with her but this was a bit of a waste by comparison since as likeable as he is, Jerry has no chemistry at all with Tera and the slumming aspect was not lost on me (best saved for a feature where the plot calls for it). Tera did benefit from her exotic looks being fully displayed from the get go though, dropping to her knees far too soon since the lack of tease really weakened the scene for me but showing her ability to shine all the same. She worked the meat pipe orally and with her hand nicely enough, Jerry going down on her well enough to elicit the fake moans common in porn. This led to the guy jamming his modest member inside of her moistened labia with her slightly bouncing back on him; not the most active ride of her career but strokable nonetheless. The foaming pussy displayed might have been better edited out (too much lube?!?) but the premium pussy recalling the dynamic of the song Uptown Girl struck me as Tera still seeking to find her niche as a performer. They moved into a few more positions and Tera did some PTM before the population pudding landed on her breasts, the hotty giving Jerry some post coital sucking to close out the scene. This appeared to be a filler scene of sorts since it was unrelated to the tropical theme but a filler scene with Tera in the lead is the kind of filler scene I can live with.

Scene Three: Alexis Amore, a curvy Latina with huge implants, was up next by a car overlooking the cliffs of the tropical location used for the majority of the movie. Her partners were Tommy Gunn and Kris Knight; both muscular and fit for servicing her needs. Without any build up or tease at all, she was sucking both men off in alternating fashion after the too brief montage; dispensing with the niceties for a straight out session of carnal activity, giving one head as the other tapped her cookie from behind. She was an active rider of cock, more so than any of her peers in the movie, and while she might not have the name recognition some of them had, she definitely elevated the heat a notch. Scene Five: Nikki Benz, easily the most popular gal of the movie after Tera herself, was up next in a stream of water as she teased (finally some tease!) though in slow motion. She frowned a lot, perhaps the sunlight in her eyes, and finally became an active anal rider just in time for the scene to cut away to the facial and ATM. Sheesh!

Scene Six: Tera Patrick, all nude in a secluded cove, was last up as she had some slow motion tease, leading to her working with her number one guy, Spyder Jonez. Despite what you may have heard, his rod looked nearly as big as the rest of the men in the cast and he brought the one quality to the scene that none of them could with her; chemistry. They were on a rocky shore where she was giving him a sweet hummer, his vocals barely discernable over the music as she engulfed his cock the way all of us would appreciate getting. This led to her actively riding the fully erect rod and moaning in an almost believable fashion, though the edits did not strike me as effective for handling the camera issues mentioned above. Tera was not as active when sprawled across a rock but at least she was showing some effort, handling the PTM as she jerked out his load onto her mouth and chest. It was her best scene of the movie, by far, and I only wish it lasted a lot longer.

Summary: Teradise Island 2 by director Spyder Jonez for Teravision was the company's latest attempt to showcase hotty Tera Patrick and as such, nearly succeeded. Tera was in half the scenes and if you're one of her devoted following, the movie is a "must have", though the hopefully forthcoming Blu-Ray version of the flick will be even better in terms of enhancing the visuals. For the majority of porn lovers though, the relative lack of extras, the technical difficulties, and the limited amounts of fuck for the buck render it best suited as a Rent It. In short, Teradise Island 2 might have been best combined with Teradise Island 1 to make a single movie rather than split off into two flicks, have a scene tossed in part way through unrelated to the tropical theme, and sat on for years while fans waited patiently. Check it out and see for yourselves but keep in mind that Tera makes so few movies these days that this fact alone might merit consideration for viewing it, even if just as a rental, just to see what the marketing hype is all about.
