The Movie: Devil's Kiss stars pretty Japanese AV performer Tsubasa Okina, a woman of fairly average build with pert breasts and a cute smile. Scene 1 - : Narration tells us that in the year 2XXX the IV World War began and after that, La Dolce Vita began. Tsubasa shows up on screen and electricity shoots across her face. Scene 2 - : We catch up with Tsubasa a few days later when a trio of men show up at her apartment and try to get her to drink Holy Water. She won't so they flick it on her and she screams and tells them that she can't take the burning in her body any longer. Scene 3 - : The strange narration tells us that Tsubasa is planning her revenge. Cut to a room where she's seduced one of the three guys from the last scene. Presented completely unfogged and in full on hardcore mode, Devil's Kiss, like most of the Kokeshi titles released recently, is little more than a series of hardcore vignettes though it should be noted that this title has a slightly stronger plot than the other Kokeshi titles this reviewer has had the honor of watching over the last month. There's a random but fairly cohesive story that runs from beginning to end and a few recurring themes as well. It's nothing to write home about but it does give the sex scenes some sort of context. speaking of the sex scenes, and let's face it - those are the real reason anyone is going to watch this in the first place, they're well done. Tsubasa is a pretty girl and performs with some serious gusto throughout the feature. She looks good in the various skimpy outfits she wears for brief moments in the picture and looks even better in the nude. She's got a nice body and a pretty face and looks like she's enjoying herself in the movie.

The DVD

Video:

The 1.33.1 fullframe picture is pretty solid. It's interlaced, but it's bright and colorful and contains very good color reproduction and natural looking skin tones. Detail is strong throughout and there aren't any problems with compression artifacts or heavy edge enhancement. This isn't going to win any awards, but for a shot on video gonzo-fest, it looks pretty damn good.

Sound: 

The Japanese language Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is fine, if a little shrill in spots. The dialogue is all in Japanese but there are optional English subtitles that translate the minimal amount of dialogue that begins each scene. The subs are riddled with typos however and often times they don't make any sense.

Extras: 

There are two strangely titled options in the 'Extra' (sic) menu, the first of which is ITEM (19:54) which turns out to be a non-subtitled montage of clips from what we can assume are other DVDs available in this same line. The other selection is PHOTO GALLERY (25:00) which is, not surprisingly, a slideshow set to bad techno music featuring Tsubasa in various stages of dress and undress. Some animated menus and chapter selection are also provided.

Final Thoughts:

The storyline is hokey but it delivers some unintentional comedic value. The real reason to watch Devil's Kiss, however, is for Tsubasa Okina, who is a seriously sexy performer with a bit of genuine screen presence and a nice, warm enthusiasm on camera. Recommended.
