Audio/Video Quality: Ass Jazz 5 was presented in the original 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jazz Duro for release by Evil Angel as the latest part of their Buttman Choice selection. I have really liked most of his work for them and was happy to pick this one up too, noting that the raw energy usually beats out the technical expertise by a wide margin (and Jazz had only dropped the ball significantly once or twice in the past; a solid track record these days). This time, the lighting was again a bit more off than usual with the camera angles often too heavily focused on close up action. I wasn't too keen on that approach being so common here as the angles did not favor the ladies when they were in action (it worked best for the admittedly pleasing tease portions). The fleshtones were tinted and the editing was weaker than usual, making me wonder if his assistant(s) took the day off when post production time came around. There were some compression artifacts and the bitrate for the video ranged from the mid 2 Mbps to the mid 3 Mbps (on the low side); resulting in mediocre visuals at times when the lighting wasn't quite right. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital enhanced English (standard 192 Kbps bitrate) with the ladies typically using some dirty talk to elevate the heat of the scenes. The ladies seemed to shy away from too much dirty talk though, with the music and vocals sounding distinctly monaural but for the encoding signifying their stereo status.

Body of Review: Jazz Duro has been one of the more ass oriented directors at Evil Angel for some time now, many of the new hires seemingly into a variety of circus act sex, ladies as a whole, or just wanting to do their own thing to stand out. The attention to booty makes him a favorite of mine any time he stays away from the rougher sex (which I like when the ladies in his scenes do seem as in titles released by others at the company). His latest release to make it my way was Ass Jazz 7 a series that has earned praise from a number of online critics, present company included, for the way the performers engage in heated sexual exploits to the benefit of all concerned. The company website described the three scenes like this: "Jazz Duro always impresses Buttman with both the booties that he delivers, but also with the consistently new, hot girls. This tape is no different, offering a number of hot new, Brazilian girls. In Scene 1, Jazz shoots the best Latinas in porn valley - Rebecca Linares and Luscious Lopez - in a 2 guy, 2 girl all anal festival that starts with the trademark, clear glass butt plugs and toys. Here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Rebeca Linares, a lean hotty from Spain with an aggressive sex drive, and curvy Luscious Lopez, were up first as they posed in fetishware that really enhanced their figures substantially. They teased the camera and were looking fine before they started playing sexually with each other, some toys eventually coming into play as they stretched their asses to prepare for the dicks of Will Steiger and director Jazz Duro. The generic couch setting was okay as it allowed the focus of attention to be solely on the ladies, though I would have preferred them to stay outside in the natural sunlight (where Luscious looked best in her red mesh attire and black thong). Bianca really didn't appeal to me physically (except for her ass) and her active ride largely saved the scene but it was a decided step down the ladder from the initial outing.

Scene Three: Monica Santhiago and Mila Pitanga, both dressed in contrasting rubber fetish attire as shown on the front cover, were up last and if you like big butts, they will satisfy you about as well as any of the other ladies in the cast. The lesbian tease was pretty warm here, the gals carrying on in their foreign tongue as the dresses got hiked up and the pussy play continued. The display of her firm the flesh was made it a better scene even as the shaky camera almost seemed to indicate that the director was jerking off. The ladies went on to show both seductive moves as well as a dynamic that showed them going from sweet to sassy with each other that I enjoyed a lot. Some anal beads helped stretch out the gals and a variety of toys were brought in for them to use by Roge; the ladies seemingly wanting to play more with him than anything artificial. It was a decent scene but lacked in a lot of little ways, making it only slightly more appealing than the second scene as far as I was concerned.

Summary: Ass Jazz 5 by director Jazz Duro for Evil Angel started off strong thanks to Luscious Lopez and Rebeca Linares but it soon bottomed out (pun intended) with two scenes that weren't bad but they really weren't all that special either when looked at as a whole so I rated the DVD as a Rent It. The lack of chemistry was the biggest drawback for me since I don't need a laundry list of tricks displayed to rate something quite high (ask the folks at Wicked Pictures...) and while every gal in the movie had a sweet booty, not all of them were equally talented at showing it off very well. In short, Ass Jazz 7 will satisfy the basic needs of the director's audience but only slightly compared to many of his better works, so see it before you drop the hard earned cash.
