Extras: The best extra was the 25:18 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that started off with an interview by John of Tiffany Mynx (Dex Magnum assisting in later scenes). The rest of the feature had some of the photoshoot material, some minor amounts of sex, and a bit of fun but amounted to a boilerplate offering with little material fans will need for their respective collections. There was also a cumshot recap, a photogallery, some trailers, and a true double sided DVD cover (as well as a coupon for a social website to meet other sexually active people).

Audio/Video Quality: Whatabooty #5 was presented in a nice anamorphic 1.781 ratio full frame color as shot by director John Strong for Red Light District in the MPEG-2 codec used for almost all standard definition releases. The lighting was good and that helped keep the grain, video noise, and other flaws to a minimum. The fleshtones were accurate and the camera work was generally good with the composition of the shots enhancing the ladies' looks most of the time. There were no serious problems with compression artifacts (though the bitrate was often in the lower 5 Mbps range) or significant shadows to contend with so I found the picture appealing (as will most people that like solid, flat, lighting as RLD is generally known for providing) and acknowledge John for doing a fine job. The audio was nothing special although encoded in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using 192 Kbps bitrate encoding and a sampling rate of 48 kHz. The processing done in post production aside, the vocals were seemingly recorded in monaural and the music not a big factor so it wasn't a problem but it wasn't anything worth extra points either.

Body of Review: John Strong has directed for Red Light District for some time now, one of the last company loyalists from what I could tell in our admittedly limited conversation earlier this year. John is a gonzo director more interested in heat and energy than technical excellence so it makes sense that he'd end up at the company, some of his previous outings really well handled. His latest title to make it my way is Whatabooty #5, the director taking the series over from Mr. Pete. The idea is to provide a sufficient amount of tease and hardcore sex with the emphasis being the ladies having large, ripe rumps. I'm not sure what John will offer in terms of changing the formula but I wanted to see all the same considering he had the chance to work with increasingly rare Tiffany Mynx. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Phoenix Marie, an average looking blond stripper with a decent derrière, was up first and she showed that the series was evolving as a result of a new director (what happened to Pete?). Her tease was without music and her panting gaps for breaths seemed okay by me as she crawled on the couch but far from a practiced bit of work even if her ample sample was welcome on my face any time. Summary: Whatabooty #5 by director John Strong for Red Light District was saved from obscurity thanks to the efforts of Tiffany Mynx and Claire Dames, both ladies providing the most consistent rides of the show (though Velicity wasn't bad and the others had the kind of curvy asses I have come to expect of the series) so I rated it as Recommended. The technical values were okay but seemed to be rushed (two scenes lacking the post production music tracks, some off camera comments heard in the background, other noises heard that should have been better handled as well as editing in need of repair) though in the end result, the replayability and stroke value were sufficient to give the nod, again thanks largely to the two top gals of the show. In short, Whatabooty #5 was a nice showcase for some mighty sweet looking ass, even if only half the cast did anal and the movie able to provide a couple of scenes that I could go back to repeatedly in my estimation for the kind of self loving we rarely talk about.
