Extras: The best extra here was the 30:07 minute long Bonus Scene between Louise Black and Nick Lang. It started with a lot of posing and tease by the gal, John making lots of comments as she followed his instructions. The tease led to each giving the other some head, a lot of fucking outside, and plenty of anal before the population pudding flowed to her face. The rest of the extras were kind of weak this time, containing a cast list, five short photogalleries, a popshot recap, limited filmographies of some of the gals, a biography for the director, and a set of four trailers to movies like Brianna Love: Her Sexy Fine Self, Naomi: There's Only One, Drop Sex 2, Veronica Da Souza: Some Piece Of Ass, Gobble The Goop, Crack Her Jack, Fresh Meat 22, and The Voyeur 34.

Audio/Video Quality: Crack Her Jack 9 was presented in the improved 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director John Leslie for distribution by Evil Angel in the MPEG-2 codec using 480i resolution. I appreciated the additional quality this provided me on my widescreen television set, making it more likely that friends of mine would be interested in seeing it too (with rare exceptions, similarly equipped friends of mine go out of their way to avoid what they call "fool frame" productions in favor of titles that look better on their new sets). As noted previously, John has long since surpassed the desire to show crystal clear visuals, preferring to focus his efforts on the kind of raw energy and rougher edged look that most of his peers only seem to fall into by mistake, though I'll be the first to admit I'd like his movies to revert back to a more traditional & well lit approach if at all possible. The levels of grain, video noise, and even pattern effects were okay this time and the action lost nothing due to the flaws on the technical side (the movie was still hot but the bitrate typically hovered in under 3 Mbps and it showed) but the overly saturated colors really did not help the ladies look their best IMHO. The composition of the camera angles showed some care put into them, making the ladies virtually always look their best, and this is the strength of John's directorial ability more than anything else (as a producer, he also tends to make fine selections of cast). The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio track (in 192 Kbps) was as basic as gonzo porn came be, with limited talking going on outside of John's own directions in the background. The cast could be heard moaning & groaning but this was definitely a limited selection based on audio quality.

Body of Review: John Leslie is one of the few truly stylish directors working in the gonzo realm these days, his credentials established years ago as a meat puppet turned director with scores of awards under his belt. His latest release making my way is Crack Her Jack 9, the sequel to Crack Her Jack 8 I reviewed last year. The movie is mainly a series of unrelated gonzo scenes but the little touches John puts into his work here help make it different than much of what you will find on the market at this writing. Here's what the company website had to say about the DVD: "John Leslie's latest fuckfest is chock-full of beautiful babes and rough, athletic sex! The fun begins with sweet, bubble-assed Jenny Hendrix and her pal Tommy Gunn, who applies some light B&D techniques and runs Jenny through the porn gamut with toys, hard vaginal pounding, anal sex, spitting and a cummy facial. Now, a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Jenny Hendrix, the curvy young lady featured on the front cover (spreading her ass cheeks and on the upper right hand corner), was up first as she masturbated in a comfy chair, her fishnet top, garters, and stockings looking quite fetching on her. The tease was pretty decent as she walked around the room to John's voice, the two carrying on a conversation as she started jamming large sex toys into her snatch. The moans appeared to be mechanical and pornish to me, Tommy Gunn walking in to place a BDSM bit in her mouth as she continued her performance. The anal that came afterwards was even less believable though and I was more interested in how she would wrap her lips around his cock to blow him. John helped work the blue dildo inside of Jenny as she slobbed Tommy's knob, the technical 69 and his oral fleshing things out but again, not in a convincing manner. Jenny rode his cock passively throughout the scene as well though, killing the heat for me even before the ending load of genetic juice landed on her face.

Scene Two: Alexis Love, the Latina seen on the lower right hand side of the cover with nice DSLs, was up next as she teased with a pocket rocket, running it down her titties and biscuit in the bathroom before she donned her sexy white lingerie. Her ass looked perfect here and her attire provided easy access to her nipples, the show on the bed with the clear dildo pretty warm to start things off with. The scene was far from perfect but it had a lot more stroke value than the previous scene for me.

Scene Three: Adriana DeVille, a lean brunette wearing a polka dotted outfit, and black Candice Nicole in red, were up next in a small bathroom styled setting with Steve Holmes next. He was feeling up Adriana and Nicole was stripping to show off her shaven snatch, a thunderstorm in the background roaring as the trio went to work. The fake moans made a reappearance here though and it was a mixed quality scene, Candice showing she was ripe and ready to do more before they shared his facial.

Scene Four: Jandi Lin and Melanie Scott, were up last as they engaged in some hardcore sex with Tommy Gunn, the set up being that Melanie was going to work Jandi over as her personal sex toy. Melanie brandished a riding crop and surprising Jandi as the gal admired a BDSM sex toy (some bondage gear for beginners). Melanie trussed Jandi up and disrobed her, the initial action being erotic but not as passionate as I prefer. The use of the vibrator to warm Jandi up wasn't bad, nor was Tommy's pounding pecker with the light verbal abuse by Melanie serving its intended purpose. The down side to the scene was that whatever mechanical heat might have been present at times, the personal chemistry between the trio was minimal and neither gal was an active rider of cock. The ladies shared Tommy's wad of spew at the end, offering him some post coital sucking and clean up, making it worthy of a single bout of pocket pool but not much more.

Summary: Crack Her Jack 9 by director John Leslie for Evil Angel was another mediocre effort in the series, this being perhaps his least focused volume in a very long time. The ladies were generally physically appealing but for whatever reason, they lacked most of the energy or passion I have seen in the past so I rated this one as a Rent It. In short, Crack Her Jack 9 was not as good as the action found in last year's Crack Her Jack 8 so while the technical matters were similar, the raw energy I'm used to John providing was simply lacking too much to get behind the title.
